You have no idea how much I truly appreciate you providing this amazing tutorial! I play keys but I’ve always played by ear. Guess I never really sat down to try and nail this solo. But thanks to your detailed, yet, easy to follow tutorial on the solo part of “Africa”, I’ve got it covered. Thank you sooooo much for this! I am now a subscriber. Im a huge fan of Toto. Can’t wait to see what else you have! Cheers! 😊
This is so cool, saw a girl just today play this on on a regular upright piano, she played bass in left hand and the solo with right hand but seemed to hit All the notes you played with one hand,it sounded right anyway.
Again, thanky kindly. I'll be doing all right hand single notes, using a flute, with the marimba transposed down 4 steps on the other layer. Or maybe the other way around, haven't gotten to that part yet!!! Oh, and I'm transposing all this down a half; I have a headache, lol.
@@How2PlayMusic Finally cracked it...the solo is only only short but is so tricky to get the notation and timing right again thanks for the encouragement.
Dude - So awesome and so clearly taught. Thanks! How do you like the Nektar? I bought one this past spring break and have appreciated the weight compared to my 88 key weighted Fantom! Also the fact that it is bus powered for even working with iOS is amazing!
Good video, but you teach many wrong notes (right hand). Don't try to say im wrong, you just don't know how to exactly play this solo. Fingers that you use is not optimal to play easy. i've been playing keyboards for 23 years and i hear what's correct notes
Thank you for this! If I had only had you back in the 80s! Great fun and most detailed tutorial on this yet.
Thanks Blake! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thankyou but I'll be back I'm really just a curios guitar player from Michigan you teach really well
I am from Michigan! Just moved down here to Nashville area 3 years ago. I lived in a town called Vassar, near Frankenmuth.
Very nice playing and breaking it down! Thanks for breaking down both hands as well
My pleasure. I hope it helped!
Awesome job man!! Best Toto tutorial in youtube!!
Thanks Neil!

I think you are correct, because I think David just used his right hand for the solo & comps some chords with the left hand...

Are you layering a flute and Marimba for this part?
Yes I am. The original has just flute for the first part but for teaching purposes I used the layer all the way through.
Awesome now teach us the rosanna solo
Thank you so much.
perfect!
Thanks Vini! I am glad it helped!
@@How2PlayMusic you have the best tutorials, man! Godspeed
This was way too fast in my opinion, but thank you
I'm sorry. I'll try to go slower in the future. Thanks for the constructive comment!
You can always use the RUclips slow down tool, and it's good to make sure you know each part before continuing to take in the followings parts.

Send me a video so that I can check it out. Thank you.
