Lyrics:
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in twelve-thirty flight
Her moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say
"Hurry, boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside
Frightened of this thing that I've become
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
"Hurry, boy, she's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa

David Paich and Steve Porcaro!!! They're back!!!
Simon Phillips
the
MONSTER
Couldnt think of anyone better to fill Jeff's giant drumming shoes than the legendary Simon Phillips.
I absolutely love Simon’s dragged triplet fill at 3:29. Just a world-class drummer.
Yes quick and smooth
First 5 seconds of this video are already a masterpiece.
I thought the same thing! So tight, so good. My word.
Landing Simon Philips was a miracle
Simon Phillips on drums and Nathan East on bass!! Jeff would be on the side taking notes with a huge smile on his face if he was still around.
And also tears of happiness for Toto
Jeff Porcaro is proud in heaven.
As great as Simon is, he is a legendary... I still feel Jeff is the better drummer, his technique is flawless and he was a very unique drummer. I think Simon would have been taking notes from Jeff, in my opinion.
@@vincenzocarrozzo3384 I know Jeff love Simon drumming they are both great drummers
@@vincenzocarrozzo3384 I agree with you I'm a Drummer myself and Jeff is one of my Favs
simon phillips is unbelievable !!!!!
Yes I get the shivers from his drumming alone
Simon Phillips ladies and gentlemen.. Ultimate groove.
Nathan East is one of the coolest dudes and badass bassists on the planet.
Agreed. He was KILLER playing with Clapton.
Let me just say that David Paich sounds great on this. His voice has improved since he was young. Such a beautiful performance and we know Jeff is watching with approval from above
Ainsi que son frère Mike. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😮😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😮😮😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I could be wrong, but I hear just a little touch of autotune
@@muelesariocontra You're not wrong
As soon as this legendary tune starts, I get goosebumps and everything changes for good
Simon is amazing drummer, who’s career spans throught decades….he’s still on the top of the game….love him.
BRILLIANT !!!! I am African and a Nature Conservation Scientist, Always use this track before a big Conservation Lecture. I play drums as well. My favourite music track, Wish Jeff was around as well. Legend drummer !!!!
SImon's groove solid as hell!
Nathan East on the bass guitar...what a legend / Simon Phillips on the drums - Best time keeper on the planet
WOW! What a lineup! And I’m glad The keyboard duo David Paich and Mike Porcaro are back! Toto forever!!
You mean Steve Porcaro 😊
andrew.2511 yes! Steve Porcaro. My bad!🤗 thanks!
Simon Philips just adds that touch of class to an already great live band, and Nathan East on bass, absolutely amazing 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've listened to Toto for the last 40 years and I still can't get sick of it.
So TRUE! It started with that RIPPING beat on Girl, Goodbye. It remains to be seen if Luke will reconstitute Toto. Steve P. doesn’t want to tour anymore and David has had health issues in the past. I’ve seen them 7 times starting with the Isolation Tour. I love live music and my favorite live band is Toto!!
@@stringstroker22 7 times?!?!!
You lucky.. so and so !
I only got to see
them once in Brisbane Australia, on the Falling in Between tour, with Greg on keys and Lee Sklar on bass. Front row! A metre away from Luke. His pick went flying and fell right at my feet. It's been sitting in my wallet ever since😁
@@stringstroker22 ññ
Just one of the BEST bands ever.
Simon Phillips and Nathan East...doesn't get any better than that.
Yes, there is Jeff Porcaro and Mike Porcaro, but unfortunately they are no longer with us. R.I.P.
Best rhythmic session ever.
@@albertomaieli Absolutely !!!
Dynamic duo
Actually it does...the solo works of Simon are absolutely fantastic. Protocol, for example, is a great masterpiece on the jazz-fusion venue! 👍🏻
Kudos to the backup vocals. 👏
The Goat of Songs
RIP Jeff Porcaro...Simon Phillips damn good sub
That's probably the most energetic live version of this song I've heard. Nice!
What's your opinion about Yokohama 1999 performance?
@@L10Garcia 1991 was with Jeff on Drums is good to
@@L10Garcia its good
Without Jeff Porcaro and Mike Porcaro. Never!
@@L10Garcia anything with bobby at his peak is great
Phillips, East, Lukather and Polish fans are the best on the World :)
No one better than TOTO! Simon Phillips also-NO ONE better!!!
What do you call a ToTo concert without Africa? A riot!!!
These guys are still just as good as I heard them in the 80's, in Houston!
live version better than CD 😀
It could have easily carried on another 5 minutes and built up a more powerful ending.
I know people have an unfathomable love for Bobby (the original singer)... but for me Williams is by far the better singer/front man for Toto... he's actually in tune...
What an incredible band, made up of some of the finest musicians alive. You can never get sick of listening to Toto. 👍💓
Strongly agree
Funny you'd say that. About 2 weeks ago I thought I was sick of listening to Toto but it turns out it was just covid.
Two decades later, this song still hits me right in the feels.
20 professional artists in any band will make freight! )
It's true.
Nathan East definitely brought the sauce to this performance...
Imagine him and Mark King trading licks over this groove🤦🏽😭💯
This is the best I've heard Joe sing this version live and with Simon Phillips and Nathan East what more could you want.
Toto kicks ass. I could never get tired of their stuff.
Simon is so awesome actually the whole band is great
4:02 the chorister makes me die ..
This was always a tasty song, but that Nathan East Special Sauce made it even better! The dude's a legend among bass players, and he deserves every bit of his rep.
2023 and still listening to this beautiful piece😊
Man, this tour with Amy Keys is just brilliant!
I appreciate so much to be able to see real artists perform
Best band ever. God bless Toto!
This is the best version, forever !
I will never tire of saying it WHAT A GREAT BAND !!!
Really excellent !
2024 the best for ever
One of the most perfect songs ever.
Ah! The era of the Super Bands. Always loved Toto.
Such an amazing song
Wow..., Nathan East from Fourplay and Eric Clapton is truly killing it on the bass! 😄🥰
Nathan East is one of the best. Period.
one of the very best live renditions of AFRICA, a FABULOUS BAND. TOTO.
at 2:42..... the vocals, OMFG this is why they're one of my favorite bands
Joseph Williams......man you're the perfect vocalist of Toto. This is the perfect lineup. Of course Luke,David,Steve,Simon,Nathan...... what more can you ask for😍😍😍😍😍
As much as I love everyone in the band, I always keep eyes only on Simon :D.
Thought it was just me ... and I'm a guitarist/keyboardist! Porcaro is I tough act to follow ... but I'm pretty sure they have the right guy here ... yes?
Simon is legendary
I may be out of my mind but I honestly think Simon is better and even more legendary than Jeff. Sorry Jeff, no disrespect but Simon is beyond incredible. The Rossana shuffle is hard enough as it is then Simon, a right handed individual goes and plays it open handed! Like WTF!? Lol
One of the greatest songs ever written.
SIMÓN PHILLIPS 👊👏👍👌🎶🎵🎶🎼🎶🎵
This is so magnificent. Never gets old. What a band. Every single one of them is awesome. Luke’ is from another world. :-)
That's right! I totally agree with you.
This video is my favorite version of Toto's Africa!! I love it!
Nice to hear crowd follow Nathan’s line
Everyone created this song in the concert, not just the artist's song. But it's a song that everyone participates in. It's awesome.
Such a brilliant and everlasting song. Love it ❤
Love❤Simon on drums
And the musicianship is superb.
What a gorgeous bass solo, I love u grandpa Nathan❤️
Joseph Williams has an incredible voice, of course the whole band past and present are superb too.
At his age now,it is rare for singers to get such a high tone.
💥✨💥 UNREAL.. that synchronicity with the crowd. That ENERGY...!! 💪🏼
Wow!! That was butter smooth and amazing! Toto still rocking it! And the Phillips and East touch just topped it off.. Jeff would be smiling happily
Great song
Remembering Mike Porcaro
His face while playing bass is absoluetly sharp but I know he's enjoying it
Simon Phillips always play good, smooth and precise
Wow what a great version!
hands down!!!
GOD level musicianship
the drummer is amazing
Simon Philips. Que exímio baterista!!!
Simon Phillips, just absolute genius, been following him since I began drums!!
The golden voice of Joseph!
Simon is awesome , but Jeff was one of my favorites, both are awesome.
This lineup is just STELLAR all the way around. Back up singers AMAZING. Absolutely brilliant job all the way around on this one.
I love the atmosphere of this song!
The best performance of Africa i.m.o!
La batteria di simon è pura poesia
Simon Phillips ❤❤❤❤❤The Best ❤❤❤❤❤
Iconic song!
Been a huge fan and following Toto since day one in 1978! As with any band having lineup changes over the years, the original members can never be “replaced”. Nevertheless, Toto has continued to bring new and incredible talent to their stage over the decades! 👊🇨🇦
I was hooked when Georgy Porgy kissed the girls and made them cry!
@@KeePenneI've been a OG Toto fan since I was 16 years old.
This really sounded perfect than the recorded version
top notch recording

Arctagent 2019 before Perturbator this song was played and the crowd sung it word for word with pure love, passion and sincerity - This will forever be an absolute timeless classic that no matter what walk of life you might find yourself from we can all relate and enjoy this next level banger, thank you toto - the power of music brings all together!
what a simon🥶
A Toulouse en 2013 !, ce concert était magique !,toto était parfait et je mon souviendrai toute ma vie ..
Simon is a fantastic drummer. I first heard of him from the Judas Priest album 'Sin After Sin'
same as me
My favorite band of all times 💯🔥
No one ever mentions the black lady back up singer she is fantastic
they forget about her btw whats her name ?
Amy Keys ❤️
Black singer always the best
That the same lady that toured with Phil Collins?
Why does everyone always have to single out dark skinned people? Always bringing color into it! She's just the backup singer, do you say "hey that white guy on drums is pretty Good"? No? Then why do it for dark skinned people?! Stop being ethnoracist; leave color out of it. Please! May Almighty YAHWEH bless you.
best version live..masterpiece!
Люди , человечество - Радуйтесь и получайте кайф от таких мастеров ! Люблю этих музыкантов и их музыку .
Music ini asyik bangetttt...
