I installed the oem ford one. Was cheap and easy. Program it using forscan keeping my truck looking original. But that a good 2nd option for those that can use forscan
@@seangibson1921 nope. Thankfully they set it up where it’s plug and play if you don’t want the oem system. Oem uses the multiplex computer whatever they call it. I would guess this plug tees in with the wiring from that module.
Can you please make a video on how to do this on 2021 F150? They’ve changed the plug or connector, five months after release of 2021, the connector provided with the truck doesn’t work for ant after market and their oem is not available. Help!!
how would you test it or tune it? can you explain the different numbers on that screen and what they mean? i have the exact same truck and looking to install one myself
I just hooked up a trailer with brakes to test. The numbers on the screen show the sensitivity of the brakes. The higher number, the more the brakes grab
When i plugged it in (curt, with etrailer pigtail), and connected a 7 pin tester to my rear plug, the BK light was constantly on, instead of 12V...and nothing else came on when pressing the manual brake lever... What cpuld be the reasons? 2018 f150, all factory wiring (as far as i know)
That’s quite a bit more in depth. All of the proper wire should be there somewhere, you just have to tap into them. There should be a RUclips video somewhere on it.
Great video man it literally took me less then 15 minutes to do it all.
Finnaly a good video on this job, making it look easy. Thanks man!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. Good luck on installing

Great video.. straight forward... no rambling! Thanks for the info!
Thanks for watching Johnny. Have a great day!
Thank you, you saved me $170 , if your ever in Ohio I’ll buy you some beers:)
Sounds like a plan. Glad it helped!!
Great Video! so there is no need for programing?
Just what I needed, and to the point
Thanks for watching Josh. Git er done
The factory has to have the computer flashed to enable the oem one. Pretty crazy they are so cheap on a 40-60k truck.
Agreed. Interesting
So the forescan tool is not required for the aftermarket controllers ?

I’m sorry Marisol. We don’t have access to a 2021 f150.
I’ve got a 2021 F150 and Could use the same assistance.

What do you do if you only have the 4 pin connector in the back?

Question, is the display supposed to stay on after the truck is turned off?
I don’t think so
Does it work?
Sho does
Just go to a junk yard and pull a factory brake controller out thats what i did
Oem reeuires forscan
