CLIP DESCRIPTION:
George (Gary Sinise), upon much begging from Lennie (John Malkovich), tells the story about their future and the farm they will one day live on.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Gary Sinese directed this respectful re-telling of John Steinbeck's classic novel, with Sinese as the wily George and John Malkovich as the brutish, simple-minded Lennie. Set during the Depression era, the film opens as George and Lennie are running from a woman with a torn dress, who has sent a gang of ruffians to chase the two out of the county. After a long bus ride and a ten-mile walk, George and Lennie arrive at a migrant farm in California's San Joaquin Valley, where they seek work. George dreams of putting together enough money to buy a small piece of land where he and Lennie can build a home; he hopes that in California the two can realize their dream. Unfortunately, the foreman of the ranch, Curley (Casey Siemaszko), enjoys tormenting Lennie, while Curley's frustrated wife (Sherilyn Fenn) entices Lennie with her sexual allure. George warns Lennie to steer clear of Curley's wife, but Lennie follows her to a barn where a tragedy occurs and George and Lennie's dreams are shattered.

In this movie, George is WAY more patient and caring.
How do you know?
TheBrickMasterB because we’ve read the book
I think he's super patient and caring in the book, too.
So caring... kills him
Ghiafreak George killed him cause he didn’t want him to suffer eat the hands of Curley
Lennie: we gonna live off the fatta the land and have rabbits
Me: *cries*

Lennie is so innocent I cant help but smile.
Rainbow Cowdragon so innocent and adorable
Can you tell how he's innocent?
Rainbow Cowdragon so innocent? He committed three crimes, domestic violence, animal cruelty, and murder. Yesssssss totally innocent
He doesn't even know it.
Chisom Ololo so your point is?
In my opinion, this is the only book u study in english that is actually a really good and interesting book
Matthew Hampton private peaceful was pretty good
Ummm... private peacful? Hunger games? Chinese Cinderella? All of these my son has read in English (I have read them aswell) and these are far from boring.
In my personal opinion, I believe that there are other books out there that you read in English that are really good.
Matthew Hampton we just started reading it in english class and it’s goddamn good. Agree 100%
You obviously don’t read much
I wish there was an alternative ending where their wishes came true.
The gun ending was better
MafiaX Gaming fgt dont ruin it
the gun ending shows that life isnt all about a happy ending. it makes people realize life isnt always about Sh-ts and giggles.
By alternative, I mean optional so everyone is happy.
Lance Gong and I get to tend the rabbits..BANG
Someday I'll adopt a rabbit and call it Lennie
@123 456 tell that to my English teacher
Coral N We’re getting a cat soon and you just named it. 😭
Did you do it yet
Atherion Studios I wish 😭 still live with my mom so I can’t lol
R a l u I omg please tell me you called him Lennie 😍
John Malkovich is absolutely amazing as Lennie. This is easily IMO his best film cuz of the way he makes Lennie seem so real--just like how Steinbeck made Lennie seem real in the book.
you are right
There's a bit of Lennie in all of us.
I like how close it is to the book
Ye
AnimeAndRock omg army
ye
Not really
Ikr
The actor for Lennie sounds like Adam Sandler haha.
+LizardGeek I noticed that too.
+LizardGeek it's the guy from CSI NY but yea it does sound like him
It’s John Malkovich!
I didn't notice that until now
Omg you're right
Omg I like how lennie talks. Good acting. ^^
+Mai Chang You're one of those people who'd let him touch your hair.
+Lord Humungus lmfao
That's how Malkovich really talks.. shesh.
@@MrCrystalm8 you're one of those people who get mad af for letting someone touch your hair.
Martha Speaks you are one of those grown men that watch Martha speaks
Lennie is just the cutest
***** You're just the cutest girl I've ever seen.
Gilbert Alexander

Gilbert Alexander Well, stalker much. :P
+Gilbert Alexander Pervert weirdo
Ethan John Fucked up society we're in. Can't even compliment a girl anymore.
Lennie is absolutely adorable
Yeah thats what makes him adorible, his innocence
Nikhil Mareddy hahahaahahah
"The best laid schemes of Mice and Men often go awry" ~Robert Burns
was in a poem which was inspisred to make the book
He really is ❤️
I love the relationship he and George have
I love that George is still patient with Lennie even when he interrupts ☺️😢💗
I hope y'all did well on your English exams! :D
Good luck!
you guessed it girl
Lara got a c+ :-(, but at least i passed lol
B
I’m fucked
Every time I watched this scene, it makes me smile.
Personally, this book was the best book we ever have studied in our English, and when we first watched the movie in class, all of us were surprised at how close to the book it actually was. Still love the story, honestly.. We all had a soft spot for Lennie in our English class, and literally everyone was in tears by the time we reached the ending- Including our teacher, who'd already read the book through thrice with other students.
Jeez and i thought my school was the only one doing of mice and men
Apx Guardian and in the UK
We're doing it in Israel too
Apx Guardian I’m doing mice and men
I'm doing it as well.
Were doing it this year
Gorge is like lennies older brother showing him the world and it’s so wholesome after knowing the end this scene is so sad
John Malkovich does such a good job in this movie
Seth Williams yeh he does x
Agreed. He played an intellectually disabled individual VERY convincingly!
He is the boss
1:48-1:52 foreshadowing exactly what Lennie said right before his end. :(
John Steinbeck was a great writer, he represented a real image of California! He may have focused most of his novels in California, but he had clear representation of American society as a hole, Proud to say he was from my state.
they are so cute together, i love these two, gotta say these are my two favorite best friends
:p
+Rio The Lion your mother
wow guys calm down no need to be dickweeds
Watch the end 😊
Lennie, how did you get an office boss job in transformers 3?
Did your employers let you tend their rabbits?
Everytime I read Steinbeck's "Of Mice And Men!" I get all choked up inside.
Lennie is the cutest ❤️😘
But your a guy....
No homo?
HIS FACE IS NEXT TO A BANANA COME ON
Lennie is so amazing
George is more insulting in the book, But in this hes more caring and patient.
Best scene in the movie.I was watching this in school with my classmates, and I just started smiling.Something about dreams and chasing the dream always make me smile.
I don't mind this movie at all it's with knowing Lennie is gonna be dead, and Candy's dog shot. It can be really tearful.
R.I.P To the people who worked on both masterpieces from this, and 1939
WOW NEVER KNEW IT WAS THESE TWO ACTORS. I was a Boy when I loved this movie. Great Friends of Mine!
this is just so heart breaking to watch after you’ve read the ending. Can’t help crying 😭
Tell it like u done before George
Between Lennie and Forrest...
Lt. Dan has no shortage of friends with special needs. xD
Huh?
It’s not Tom hanks my g
@@angratessio that’s not what he said. Gary Sinise plays two different characters that have to deal with special needs people
This is an underrated comment.

Mr. Adam... educate these people!!
I love George!!! he is cute!!
Amazing acting
This was a kind hearted scene, the duo doing a conversation of their future adventures.
Such a beautiful and sad story. One of my all time favorites.
Sometimes I say this type of thing to my best friend cuz we're outcasts in our school but have dreams like George and Lennie :'(
+Dorfdude8 How are you outcasts?
Don’t give up on your dreams from back then, man.
This movie/book is very good, it shows how it was to live back then and when you had a dream, all we people have a dream deep inside, look at Lennie and his dream about the rabbits, he want to tend them, and its a strong will he has. Lennie is my favorite from this movie/book, because he is a very happy person with a strong will! :')
***** I know, but this was my opion on the movie/book.
The ending of this movie made me cry
Who else watching this because they have too for an english assignment
Met Gary Sinise while stationed in South Korea and had a short conversation. Great guy!
Lennie is funny as fuck. when he got shot and killed by George, its heartbroken
My english teacher says if we complete our essay on the book then we can see the film
This scene is so sweet! It shows how close they are😊
First time I seen this was a stage performance on television. With these same two actors.
God I remember when I first played Metal Gear Solid 5 and at the start of the second mission where you have to learn how to operate Mother Base, Venom says "Kaz, what should I do? Tell me like you use to.".
I was expecting Kaz to say "Well Boss, guys who live like us are the loneliest guys in the world. But we are going to build a base, we will have quaters for all our staff. And you get to tend the soldiers, Boss".
Lennie sounds like Adam Sandler in the Waterboy
Is It me or is George the same actor played by the guy who was playing lieutenants Dan from Forrest Gump?
Promit Hossain it is
Promit Hossain we watched this in my English class a few years ago, I brought up that Gary Sinise was in Forrest Gump, someone asked who he played and everyone was like "lieutenant Dan!" In the Forrest Gump voice.
Jess K.
Between Forrest Gump and Lennie Small...
Lt. Dan has no shortage of friends with special needs. lol. xD
Not at all the same actor.. Lt. Dan.. didn't have legs.. oviously.. George? Hes got him some legs..
Bartacomus Kidd 😂😂 yea! How tf is it the same actor if he ain't got legs
I’m 16 and did this last year. Cool how this great book has a special place in all students hearts. Past, present and soon to be future. I’m really gonna miss school when it’s done I know it…
I always imagined that Lennie would be more fluent/clearer voice.
Lennie is so adorable kdhdhsh
This movie, and also Death of a Salesman solidified John Malkovitch as an amazing actor in my mind.
watch burn after reading
Awwww, I love the Percy Jackson fandom (books not crappy films) and I can only compare Tyson to Lennie. They are both so cute and loyal and sweet awwww, whyyyyyy diiid the auuuthor dooooo thhaaaaatt toooo hiiiiim!
This is a really good film. There should be more than this.
I love Lennie so much ❤❤❤❤
Who doesn't?
This acting is so amazing
Great movie, I own it on DVD, when I first saw this I thought, “wow, he is HANDSOME!” Then I saw him in Forrest Gump and I was completely smitten. Good looking man! Loved him with that long hair in FG. He has such a unique look, like no other. Beautiful features and LOVE THE VOICE. I just heard about his son Mac. OMG…..absolutely devastating. I wish the Sinise family well and strength through this very difficult time. 💕💕💕💕💕💕
I deffo ship them
I've only learnt about "Of Mice and Men" when I was in Year 10 (2007-2008) at Archbishop's School in Canterbury of the United Kingdom.
these vids are useful! for my GCSE revision!!
the next time he tells it is the last time that part always get to me emotionally
Lennie is such little brother to George.
Lennie: We gonna give fatta the land Me: Wish you knew your death who did I spoil it for???Who else is only here for a test lets be real

We're gonna live of the fatta the land George

I finished this book recently, you probably have too considering this comment was 2 months ago. This was such a good book!
I'm just starting it!
WackyWavingInflatableArmFlailingTubeMan you'll love it! this is one of the few books I actually enjoy. :) (i hate most books.)
Peter Nguyen It's already been spoiled for me in the school playground, but I guess i'll enjoy it anyway! xD
Were just about to start this book in English and I'm actually excited for once. Thankyou to my teacher that recommended to watch the film
This clip made me cry
Given what happens later on in the movie, this is both the most heartwarming, and heartbreaking scene. And I love it.
Lennie is just adorable!😍
I finished the book and movie, and lennie is just great, and in the movie.. i like George, hes just like how i thought of him
Of Mice and Men is one of my favorite books now eventhough it's really depressing. It's really well written with a very important message. I wanna see the full movie
It’s on RUclips my guy
omg i love the book, and this is even sadder than the book
You have no idea how many times I’ve watched this
I remember doing about this for English exams back in 2006 it's a great film
We were going to watch this in my English but we didn’t because IT MIGHT OFFEND SOMEONE
Ppl these days get offended over everything
WTF? I am progressive as they come but that is bonkers.
The best films are always adapted from short stories rather than full length novels
The ending is so so sad
Lennie ❤️
It sounds like lennie has a retainer. Toothing problem? Guess George has the money to help Lennie's teeth. Best friends! :D
I think he had some sort of mental/social disability, but they didn't understand that at the time, and he was just thought of as stupid.
when i feel bad, i look at this scene and iam good
John Malkovich is really special!!
Lennie sounds a lot different to what I imagined and George looks a lot different than what I imagined.
Lennis is awesome, im sad about what happens to him at the end. But this stuff never happened kn real life, this story was just to show what life was like in the 1930s
The ending is so sad......
The ending it's self was sad
That endings so sad in the book
It's really close to the book. That's great!
I miss high school so badly. Time to read this book again
I had happy experiences in high school also, and we also read the book Of mice and men
Other than the play, A Streetcar Named Desire, this was my favorite piece of literature we analyzed in school
I really love these kinds of movies. I don't know what it is about them that really intrigues me.
I loved the book and for once a movie actually follows a book well.
So true
lord of the flies movie I'm loo-kin at you...
After i learnt about the part at the end i couldnt go back to school and read this without dying inside
dang i jsut finished reading the book and watching and remebering the ending i have the feels
Lets be real the majority of us just want a good grade in english lol
me
John Malkovich finally gets to play himself, no acting needed.
I'm just watching this for English class because we read the book
recently saw the play last wednesday and it was fricking spectacular
