- I want to give you a rough overview of what we have done to transform the old Mercedes Benz 310, fire truck into a van for vanlife! The vanbuild took quite some time and brain cells, but we pulled it off within a couple of months. Very glad to have had so much help from friends!

Hey everyone, I'm currently thinking about a van to recycle plastic!
I would build in precious plastic machines to shred plastic and maybe even produce products. The idea is to drive around and clean up along the way.

Suggestions:
1. Always carry a tube of liquid silicon with rubberized patches for any holes that pop up.
2. Carry a small can if truck grease.
3. 2 tin of WD40
4. Extra wiring and fuses for the truck.
5. A hi-lift jack
6. A good solid shovel
7. Heavy duty wire cutters
8. Hoist with winch that can be mounted in front or back
9. Tire chains for mud n snow
10. Extra strong Pulley straps
11. Gorilla tape
12. Fog bulb lights (led fog lights blink in fog)
13. Halogen Bulb lights mounted on top n at the back
14. Dash n reverse cameras also good for security.

i have the same van but the 410d 1997 dobel tyres on back and its my dream to make it a camp van this are the strongest vans you can find easy to reper everything mechanic u can do self repear on all

Yeah man, exactly! They're so tough and will run forever! I'm super jealous because I had to sell mine. One day I'll have this kind of model again. Now I'm just rocking a normal Sprinter van haha.

i wold like to go somewhere wher not every one can go but in the moment because of the covid 19 my economi is not good and i have to wait to earn something more
if i wonna turn it intoo a nice off-road camper in albania is normally cheaper as in your state
with all the list that i have made i need around 5700$ to make it perfect
i think for you to make a campaign car from a sprinter you need mor than 30000$

Maybe good to change the connectors which link the shift to the gearbox. These tend to break easily. Nice van btw:)

surprised you didn't put a bathroom in it... Whenever I design a mobile home I always think about the bathroom with a shower in it - first and most important thing. A lot of people might disagree, but consider this - if your parked in the city and no bathroom close by and would you want to leave your van for a long duration of time? It doesn't take up a lot of space either, you don't need to make a room for it, same for shower as well.
So true man. No idea why I didn't plan for it upfront. Would've been a lifesaver sometimes. Next build will definitely have it!
I'd put maybe a system for an outdoor shower, if you're camping. Otherwise I feel it takes too much room. Same with kitchen stove, just have one that's not built into anything but rather something you can pull out on a table and connect to a gas tank. Also that wood burner looks like it can be used for cooking.
@@s4n714g000 s4n714g000 yeah I was thinking about that too lately. Showers are not really worth the space. An outdoor one will be good for most scenarios but a toilet is definitely a smart choice.
My kitchen area could've been improved a lot more but that might be something for the next build. I did cook a lot on the wood burner though, as you have mentioned.

Great van build out and an Awsum video and music, never thought about securing the wood burner that way, Mmm house stoves don’t usually need to be bolted down
thanks a lot! the only reason why i bolted the wood burner down like that are the rules here in germany. Every changes you're doing on your car has to be checked by a professional. The only way you can get around that, for example with a wood burner, is by acting as if it was payload. And for a woodburner to be payload, it needs to be taken out at any given time, which is why i chose this mounting system.
And of course i didn't want it in my neck in case of an accident.

I’m still working on mine installing a d2 espar right now. Watched your video which was really helpful. Got the quick couple you used but have a question. How did you get from the quick couple to the black hose without a secondary reduction in fuel line size? I can’t get the small diameter hose in the kit that fits the black line to go over the quick couple nipple. Did you just force this on somehow?

Are there any major safety concerns to have in mind with the wood burner? does it not generate too much heat on the surrounding materials? Have you tried reading for carbon monoxide emissions just in case? it's odorless and apparently extremely dangerous, I don't mean to be a safety Sally but that engine inside the car configuration makes me uneasy, maybe something to keep in mind.

Hey thanks man! I was concerned with the heat as well and tested everything before going on the trip. I mounted a metal plate below the burner and checked for temperatures all along the chimney. The wood burner I bought had slabs of stones on the sides which absorbed the heat a lot. The front and back had enough space, so that was alright. And yes, I did have a smoke detector and a CO alarm inside. I wouldn't go to sleep without a CO alarm, when the fire is still going.

Die Kappen habe ich einfach angesprayt, aber das ging nach 1-2 Jahren wieder leicht ab. Vorher waren Socken drauf ;)

Thank you a lot! The most expensive was electrical stuff, insulation and the wood burner. I didn't pay much for wood or nails, cause i got most at the exhibition center. I think about 2-3k in total cost for the build but i don't really know.
How do you keep the condensation from forming in between the metal and the foam and eventually molding?
Good question and honestly, I don't really know. I only had some condensation on the bottom of the metal walls and some of the raw wood got some spots of mold. I didn't really think about it when building it. Any advice?
@@ARTVENTUREFILMS Use insulation that lets air through a bit better, theoretically if there is airflow within the insulation your heating + ventilation will take care of moisture.
@@ARTVENTUREFILMS I don't really have any advice, which is why I asked if you knew something I did not. All I can think of is to leave space in between the insulation and the metal, through which air would be pulled during necessary ventilation, taking the moisture with it.

Moin, sehr geil ausgebaut. Ich baue gerade das gleiche Modell aus. Woher habt ihr den Dachgepäckträger bekommen? Ich suche danach und finde keinen passenden. Bzw. die Halterungen sind nicht leicht zu finden. Habt ihr einen Tipp für mich?
Moin ! Vielen Dank 😃 Hast du nen Beziner oder Diesel? Ich habe den Gepäckträger auf Kleinanzeigen gefunden. War echt ein Glücksgriff und habe nur 100 bezahlt. Vielleicht schaust du nach universal Gepäckträgern, das war meiner auch. Viel Erfolg!
Oh, kannst mal sehen, ich bin so sehr auf der Suche, dass ich dir zwei mal geschrieben habe :D Wir haben genau den gleichen, Benziner mit flachem Dach :-)
Diese Gepäckträger habe ich auch schon gesehen und auch schon für unter 200€. Die sind vom Ford Transit. Ich hatte aber gelesen, dass die nicht soo viel aushalten. Kannst du das bestätigen? Kannst du auf deinem stehen? Hast du da noch Holzplatten/-bohlen drauf?
@@dennoeees Also ich weiß nicht ob meiner auch für den Transit gedacht war aber ich hätte mit 10 Personen drauf stehen können. War extrem stabil das Ding. Ich hatte Siebdruckplatten drauf, welche wasserfest sind und das ging wunderbar :)

Hi Fabi ! danke dir 😃 Im Video sieht man kurz eine Sequenz (01:17), bei der wir die Verstrebung am Boden festkleben. Das hatten wir mit doppelseitigen Klebeband gemacht. Die Streben haben wir im Anschluss mit dem Laminat verschraubt. Das Gewicht sollte alles in Platz halten :)

what your reason for having the van life ? reality of the van life .
I don't think I understand fully but my reason was cheap accommodation and being able to move your home wherever you want. And I like building stuff 😁

Hey, eine Frage: wie hast Du das mit deinem Van Versicherungs- und Zulassungstechnisch gestaltet ? 3,5T Privat LKW Zulassung (B Führerschein)? Und lässt du sowas was du einbaust eintragen oder hoffst du einfach darauf , dass es keinen stört ? Ich habe auch einen Sprinter selber ausgebaut und weiß nicht so ganz ob das alles legid ist wie ich da rumfahre :)
Moin Janis! Ich habe den Wagen mit einer Wohnmobilzulassung (3.5t) gekauft und habe nichts verändert, wo ich der Ansicht war, dass es eingetragen werden muss. Ich habe bezüglich des Ofens den TÜV gefragt, welcher meinte: "so lange ich den nicht während der Fahrt benutzen möchte gilt es als Ladung". Zusätzlich habe ich darauf geachtet, dass ich den Ofen jederzeit herausnehmen könnte (um Probleme zu meiden).
Hoffe das beantwortet deine Frage :)
Moin, ich habe mir einen Ducato ausgebaut, (allerdings deutlich minimalistischer und ganz klar auch handwerklich schlechter als hier im Video :)). Die LKW Trennwand ist ebenfalls raus geflogen dabei. Dem TÜV Heini war das ganz egal, das ganze bei bestehender 3,5t - LKW Zulassung. Wenn du unsicher bist, kannst du zur Not Flügelmuttern nehmen, meine es gilt als Ladung, wenn es sich ohne Werkzeug demontieren lässt.

Ehrlich gesagt war das einer der Gründe warum ich mir einen neuen angeschafft habe.
Es kommt aber stark darauf an was du vor hast. Urlaub mit der Höhe ist gar kein Problem aber alles was über einen Monat hinaus geht ist nicht mehr so schön. Ich habe halt ein halbes Jahr in dem gewohnt, weswegen ich jetzt Stehhöhe bevorzuge.
