    Thanks for showing the difference between CUT and CUT+POLISHED surfaces. Most detailers like to show 50/50 between untreated and completely treated (cut+polished) panels, which always look impressive of course. But I could never see on a video this mysterious "haziness" after compounding stage, because nobody shows it in comparison with final result.

    Took me a few years to realize it contains fillers and not very stable ones for that matter. I used it to polish out some dulling left after removing a paint spill with a clay bar, and it looked perfect till the next wash when the dullness reappeared. Only use after you're done cutting, or you'll be very disappointed in a few days when you realize the defects are still there. Also unless you have a black or a very dark car or use a gloss meter, the results are virtually indistinguishable from their ultimate compound.

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  2 года назад

      Totally agree dude! At the time of making that video I didn’t realise the number of filler it had either! I typically use IPA now to wipe down the panel after it’s been polished fo see if the polish I’m using has actually achieved the result I want before applying a protective coat👍🏻

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 2 года назад

      I've used this product for years as a professional. There are no "fillers" in it. It has a light glaze and and abrasives. I routinely use this before ceramic coatings, where the paint is stripped prior to application. Never have any defects reappeared, nor has any customer complained about a coating failure or a visual return to a pre polished state.
      Did you apply this by hand? Did you use a polisher? What tool, pad, speed, pressure, number of passes?
      Ultimate Compound can leave a much rougher surface. In a recent Porsche I did at work, the Ultimate Compound hazed the finish using a green Buff and Shine (or Hex Logic which is made for CG by Buff and Shine) on a Porter Cable 7424xp left a ton of DA haze. Ultimate Polish on a blue pad brought the gloss.
      I have an Audi A8 here right now, and UP is doing a fine job removing light to moderate car wash damage, oxidation, and marring. Don't even need the compound. The finish is excellent. CarPro Lite is going on after. On my test spot, there was no return of any damage after a panel wipe.

      Sohail Ahmed hi, a ceramic coating is the best but takes a lot of time to do properly and I would recommend doing it in a garage. If you have a little less time or don’t have a garage, meguiars ultimate wax or autoglym high definition wax are both brilliant, wouldn’t recommend doing with a DA though unless you have a really soft pad and run it on a really slow speed👍🏻

      Ah don’t worry too much, these are both user friendly products. Best advice (if you are using a DA polisher) is to start with a soft pad and the compound, if it removes the scratches, happy days, keep going. If it doesn’t, switch to a harder pad and do the same again until you find what works best. Then use the polish with a soft pad to remove the light swirls.
      If you’re putting a wax etc. On after polishing, I’d recommend wiping the panels down with IPA to remove any polish residue first so the wax has the best chance of sticking to the paint👍🏻

      Ultimate Polish wi do that sometimes.
      Last weekend I did a friend's truck at his house (same house I first machine polished my car back in 1996!), and it was leaving thise deposits that just stick to the paint. I switched to 3D ONE that day. Last night I got started in an Audi brought here to my shop and it's behaving properly and knocking it out of the park. Try reducing the amount of polish on the pad. When it starts sticking, usually one drop on the pad can reactivate the dried up clump and be wiped easily away. Yes, you could do that with Ultimate Compound as well, but it's not going to leave as nice of a finish.
      My alternatives to a Meguiar's finishing polish (because they can all do that "depositing" to a degree) are 3D ONE, AAT502, ACA520, Optimum Hyper Polish, and Jescar Micro Polish.

    • @U2Jaime1317

      No, compound can possibly burn through clear coat depending on the abrasoveness of the compound and of your an idiot and leave the DA in the same area without moving it. A polisher is less abrasive then compound. Compound is made to cut (remove scratches and swirls), polish removes light swirls and creates a glossy wet look, and wax makes it even more glossy and protects the car. After doing those 3 things use maintenance sprays to protect the wax

      Sounds like the polish/compound you are using is too rough. Definitely try a polish like Rupes ultra fine or the graphene turtle wax, it will remove them no bother at all 👍🏻. I’ve not used chemical guys pads before but the rule of thumb is that whichever pad is softer when pressing it, that’s the finishing pad (final polish stage).
