Don’t forget that on the back of the intake there are three vacuum port nipples on the back of the intake. Two of them are not used in the USA the one that is used is the vacuum the runs to the secondary air valve. The two that are not used are capped with a rubber cap those caps and the vacuum line mentioned earlier will deteriorate and fail causing a vacuum leak. So if you have smoke coming out from the back of the intake or from under micro filter housing that’s what’s leaking. You won’t be able to see them even using a mirror it’s extremely difficult to see. So you have to go by feel. It’s a cheap fix you just replace them with new rubber caps.
hey. how did you put a rubber hose on the line that goes from the valve cover to the ccv? i was repairing mine with rubber hose like you but i couldnt get the right size to fit in that tight space. can you give me the diameter size in mm of you hose?
P0171 or p0174, I don’t remember off the top of my head. But those are just Generic vacuum codes it does not pin point where the leak is. That’s why a smoke tester is key especially with a BMW
Evan Goyuk I see. I thought I had a vacuum leak too, because their pretty common on these cars. So I did a smoke test and passed. I’m getting a P0102 code and am not getting a voltage from my pcm to my maf sensor.. The ground and pos read 12-14 volts but I’m not getting anything from my signal... any thoughts?
I have a 318ci, for some reason the brakes are hard to press after 15 min or so of driving, I think its the brake booster or the brake check valve that is connected to the booster, can you verify why I had this problem ? I don't want to replace the booster if its a check valve problem. Thanks and keep at it bro !
@@yikes9816 Wow a long time ago, I believe I replaced the booster and did a breaking fluid flush, I think I did replace the vacuum pump as the seal was bad. Try to tackle the easy options first then try the hard options. This engine can serve you well if u maintain it. Let me know if u fixed ur problem
@@ThunderBullet13 thank you so much. I have pretty much testet everything. I smoke tested and found no vacuum leaks and the check valve is good, so it might be the brake booster, i will replace it very soon, since i have one laying around. thanks for the response, really helped since i have yet to find anyone with the same issue. will keep you updated.
@@yikes9816 did you check the vacuum pump ? It's common on these engines to replace them or the o-rings inside of the vacuum pump. Also make a full brake bleed and test it. I bought an used pump, they are cheap used but they are a hit or miss. Let me updated.

Funny you say this I’m buying a new vacuum cap for the back since they are so cheap. I only have one cap the other vacuum line goes to my exhaust flap
Great video! Can you make a video on how to fix the tampered milage on an E46 please.
I already a have video
@@EvanGoyuk ok. Is it how to fix it not how to tell if your car has been tampered?
how does that work if you don't have the throttle body open??
brake booster line connects to the manifold smoke travels all throughout wherever youd need it to for vacc leaks.

I don’t remember off the top of my head but if you look at my video on installing a catch can in my e46 it lists everything!
Did the leak cause your engine check light to go on?
Yes
Evan Goyuk what code did you get?

Can you get the bmw specific code?

Where did you put the oil in container at?
The cap spins off
Kool I have to get one of those
Very useful
Evan can you help with codes P0008 and P000C? Car goes into limp mode until turned off or codes reset but comes back eventually
I suggest getting a BMW specific scanner like INPA, bmw scanner, or Carly
@@EvanGoyuk I have inpa and Carly thanks to watching your videos 👍
I just wondered if you knew anything because they are very brief readings
