when amanda posted her video chronicling her time in smosh and saying "thank god noah was there because he made me look sane" i knew this was gonna be an iconic episode
The girl in the cooking class had such a beautiful reason to join the cooking class: "My family never cooked and I always thought cooking was a stressful activity and I want to make it a fun activity" and now some middle-aged bully tried to humiliate her.
@@choreomaniac oh god I forgot about that. Like bro she's not supplying the ingredients for the food, the school/instructor are. If you have a problem with the ingredients being bad, talk to the instructor. When Noah just started randomly naming famous dogs I lost it. I cant stop thinking of a gang comprised of Clifford, Scooby, Snoopy, and Blue defending a girl from a creeper.

Can we appreciate how wholesome the coworker in the first story is? She brings her transformers to the office to show them around. Imagine her in the morning choosing what transformers to bring to work like "they will love this one!"
I grew up with both my brother and cousin who LOVED to talk to me about their special interests!! I find it so wholesome when people do it 😭😭 I worked as a camp counselor and had countless kids just talk and talk about video games or tv shows, it was great! Idunno even if I'm not interested in the material it's nice to see people happy to talk about their favorite things. Whatever the first guy was on I hope he learned and grew from that situation and I hope the coworker is having a great time with the replacement!
Ikr. I was so glad to hear the update where apparently everyone has been pretty cold to OP. Personally I'd never be able to look at someone the same way if they told somebody to "shut up" and that "nobody cares", for just talking about something that makes them happy! For me, even if it's something I personally don't care about at all, just seeing a friend/good coworker/etc be genuinely excited and happy is enough to make me enjoy the conversation. I don't have to give a shit about Transformers, if the person talking about it really loves them then there's still a lot of interesting/entertaining conversations you can have without being personally attached to the interest itself. Sounds like the OP is just a really boring and self-absorbed person if they're so completely unable to enjoy a conversation about someone else's interests, to the point of being angry and bothered by it. Even if you don't enjoy the conversations you can just, y'know, not participate?? Why go outta your way to yuck someone's yum
the wedding one, it also robbed her of bridal shower, bachelorette party, tasting dinner, wedding expos, engagement party, engagement announcement. there is a lot of couple bonding and family bonding that occur throughout the different events.
literally if this had been a surprise engagement party it seems like it would have totally worked, or even a surprise JOKE wedding which doubled as an engagement party would have also worked but a real surprise wedding seems TERRIFYING
30:34 The calling an Asian woman innocent and being enamored by the innocence and possibly having urge to "protect them" just screams infantilization, which is a common stereotyping that hurts the women in the long run.
Yeah this is an obsession, not love. If he were to ever actually date her, he would probably soon find out she is not at all what he imagined her to be in his head. That would probably start the cycle of abuse. This man is insane
Not to mention he need to convert to Islam if he not already, she is the first time on the west so I doubt she want to have relationship someone with different religions, even if she want, I doubt the parents allowed him to married her

I feel like he's fetishizing her :( The combo of mentioning that she's a muslim woman for no reason and talking about "innocence" just has that kind of a bad vibe. So disgusting!
He's definitely read enough of these to know that most of the time a guy's describing a girl, he's only pointing out the stuff he fetishizes about them. He caught it so early and was so upset to be right.
I mean I'd be upset and weirded out too if a guy described his co-worker as "sweet, innocent, asian and muslim" for almost no reason besides that being the things he found attractive about her.
28:43 Story is so wild and while Noah and Amanda were pointing out the usage of "innocent" i just kept thinking how OP describes this woman as "Asian" and her "Asian Food" as if that doesn't encompass an entire hemisphere and dozens of cultures.

@@bippolhdt4730 yes, sounds like it! I've heard similar stories (+ personal experience unfortunately). I've even talked to someone who said he was looking for a "subservient" asian girl.
As a half-korean, I'm all too familiar with men, especially white men, objectifying and fetishing Asian women as "innocent, submissive, and perfect housewives." That story about the guy ruining this Asian Muslim woman's marriage just reeks of a white man looking for an innocent, submissive Asian woman to control. Absolutely disgusting, I hope she is living a better life now without him in it.

I loved Amanda saying "just walk out into traffic." The OP actually redeemed Satan and Satan is back in Heaven. The OP will now be the head of Hell when he gets there!
I lterally had to pause the video because I was laughing so hard when Shayne's rant starts at "THERE WAS NO...REASON", gets cut off with them saying how unnecessarily evil the person was, then continues, "THERE WAS NO REASON TO SAY SHE WAS ASIAN!" Like I'm writing this through tears.

I love how the first story was literally “I bullied my autistic coworker” called her a nerd, WHILE running to Reddit for advice aka the home of the exact kind of person she hates
It's so funny that they really thought Reddit would have their back in this situation. I'm glad you also clocked her as autistic because it just warmed my heart to see a lot of her coworkers so eager to listen to her ramble on about her hyper-fixation.
I was looking for a comment talking about this. I was instantly like "she's autistic" and for this co-worker to tell her that. Definitely her worthy dare a say it was ablest
Same tho. Trying to decipher why someone picked the words they did to form a message can be telling. There are many ways to (re-)tell a story or event, in one well-known communication model there are four sides(with different intentions) to every message and one of them is revealing information about yourself as a person based on the way you say something. In short: Annoying, but vaild.
No joke i got autism and if someone yelled at me about how my interests are stupid and i’m annoying for liking them i think i’d pass out 😭 that’s deranged bro
One of my friends once told me to stop talking about my interests cause no one wants to hear about it and it legit took me years to feel like I could be open about what I enjoy again. That shit really messes you up. I feel so bad for the woman.
I have ADHD (which means I hyperfixate AND feel easily rejected) and ever since someone said they didnt care about my interests Im second-guessing if people dislike me talking about my interests every time I talk about them
"Oh like if he loved her he'd have her join in on things?" DEAD! DECEASED! Noah's comments were KILLING ME with laughter this entire time but that is the one that did me in.
the whole comfy setup with the couch, pillows, and blankets really add to that vibe. in a few of my elementary school classes, we had bean bags that sometimes you could sit in (if you were lucky enough to claim it first lol) and pillows for reading time
@@mirofeyaI get what you're saying and you're right. I kinda want him as a second host to Shayne, their opposite energies of "let's dissect this and figure out what's wrong with this person" and "I hope they walk into oncoming traffic :D" match so well.
My aunt and uncle had a surprise wedding. Their guests were all on a tour bus, thinking that they were all just coming to casual get together. No one at the ceremony was dressed up other than the wedding party. Their friends loved it. Then they bussed everyone to a local 'Castle' were everyone was given medieval costumes to wear for the reception, which was in a hall that was set up like an medieval feast. Their wedding photo is INCREDIBLE. Everyone dressed up, on a cobblestone path in a castle. Doesn't get much better.
for people who don’t truly understand the horrors of haunting adeline: it’s classified as a *psychological thriller*, NOT A ROMANCE in a bunch of countries
It almost sounds like the boyfriend is trying to strip his blind girlfriend of any self control. He’s making her completely dependant on him and she needs to RUN

The con story is exactly why SOOOOO many women can’t attend or wander around cons by themselves and why I feel like a buddy system should be in place for cons.
It's something I never thought about but was wondering where were her friends that entire time? Or her parents? I feel like that's bad parenting to allow your kid to go to a convention alone for that situation in particular.
@@Bduboff well we don’t have any context on her parents so I wouldn’t out right call them bad parents. I feel like it’d make more sense to blame her friends for letting her wonder around a con by herself.
@@trashotaku Fair. Even having someone else is intimidating for the creep. But still presumably, those friends were 15 years old as well and must have had one of their parents around or some supervisor.
@@Bduboff well, we also aren’t given context for the ages of her friends so there could’ve been a 18 year old or the parents had enough trust (or they’re just bad parents) in their teen kids to go to an event like this unsupervised
I was thinking the same thing. That girl should not have been wandering alone, especially when she’s so young and at her first convention. It’s a big crowd and you can lose each other very easily, and unfortunately there are mega weirdos who pray on lone girls. It’s best to have someone with you to help get out of that situation. It was very irresponsible of her friends and (hopefully present) guardian to let her wander alone. Thank god for those furries.
Literally at a convention I had an older man follow me and was on the phone with his friend describing exactly what I looked like, where I went, and how they could easily get ahold of me. And people wonder why we are afraid to be in places alone.
Amanda’s awkward/embarrassed giggling while explaining booktok smut and haunting adeline is EVERYTHING 😂. She’s such an unexpectedly perfect fit for these Reddit stories
Really appreciate Noah for sharing that at 47:53 because it’s something that I think some guys don’t realise women have to go through. I remember this one particular instance when I had just turned 21 and a few friends and I were kinda bar hopping but decided to stay longer at one to get a bite to eat, the bar had a second floor and I said I’d go up and grab us a table. It was then that this awkward kid approaches me and asks if he could sit with me and “talk”. I politely told him no and said the other seats belonged to my friends. I watched the kid (I’m calling him a kid because I swear he looked 16-17 tops) return to his table out of the corner of my eye and saw him talking to an older guy who I’m pretty sure was his dad. About 10 minutes later, the _dad_ comes up to my table and starts trying to hit on me and offering to buy me a drink. Thankfully, this is when my friends showed up and one of my guy friends (who’s pretty big and intimidating) said something to him; I’m not sure exactly what he said, but the guy kinda put his hands up in the air and started backing off. I asked him what he said and my best (guy) friend basically said, “That guy looked like a creep and it looked like you were really uncomfortable so I asked [other guy friend] to tell him to back off.” This then led into a conversation where my 3 guy friends are recommending my other female friend and me different methods of self defence (obviously, we knew some, but I’m physically disabled so it’s a lot harder for me; they were giving tips of things I could do to defend myself even with a disability) and making sure we both owned pepper spray. One friend even texted us a link to a type of taser that his girlfriend keeps on hand when she’s out and about alone. This sounds weird, but it was honestly a really sweet moment because it made me realize how much my friends cared about me as well as the other women in their lives.
“Someone is talking bad about us, watch your back.” She was trying to warn him he shouldn’t trust his friends, she sounds like an incredible woman and I hope she never sees this Joe Goldberg wannabe again.

Funnily enough, I did listen to the newest episode of this series yesterday when I was curled around a heating pad cuz it was my time of the month. There’s just something really comforting about this series
@liathelie8805 Of course not. Everyone should take it on themselves to try and vary what they talk about. A large part of my life is my horse. Yes! OP was lending her sister some of her personal property under the condition that she would be mature about it. The sister reading out the sex scenes in front of her family is just insane, especially since the book Haunting Adeline is very graphic.

The red flag of the anime expo/visual impaired girlfriend story that flew under the radar was how he said “I wouldn’t even be comfortable with her going with *my* best friend…” So? Who cares about your buddy from childhood? It matters if it is someone the PWD is comfortable with and understands their needs/safety. He centres himself in his assessing his partner’s needs. How is it manipulative when it's after the fact? The opportunity to use the surprise wedding is past, there is no way anyone can interpret that as an attempt to emotionally manipulate her to TRAVEL BACK IN TIME to go through with it unless you're the sort of person who sees it everywhere because you're the one doing it. He was stating a fact - "I spent the money, it will take a couple of years to save up for another one" I mean, it's not as if money is an actually quantifiable thing that we use numbers and units to keep track of or anything... I feel so bad for her too because she's learning to cook to make it fun and this guy is making it stressful for her like...

The money aspect makes me think there's a degree of fiancial control too... she didn't say it outright but making a plea in the comments in the hopes he "allows" her to go is setting off all kinds of alarms
as a 19 year old who has read haunting adeline and is currently reading the sequel, i would never in a million years tell my family what it’s about.

Wedding story: I can just imagine that guy being like "i know you wanted to have kids, but you were always saying pregnancy is hard, so I've adopted us a surprise child!"
Right? How many major life decisions is he going to make on his own and spend all their $ on?
Instead of focusing on getting married, they need to go to pre-marital counseling to help hammer out communication & finances at the very least
The whole time I was screaming "they're not even engaged!" Like??? An engagement it too boring? The logic is so sideways
@@Taewills To be fair, it wasn't that he wanted to like, take control and pressure her into a wedding, he was specifically doing it because she had complained about having to plan a wedding in the past, and he knew that she loved surprised.
He genuinely wanted to help her by circumventing the parts of a wedding she didn't want and doing it in a way she would usually like.
It was just unfortunate that he didn't think about the issues of autonomy that that are important for such an important decision.

Really surprised the booktok verdict was asshole. They set boundaries going into it then the younger sister intentionally continued to violate those boundaries to make OP uncomfortable. Maybe I have too good a relationship with my siblings, I can't imagine considering that okay
Yes! OP was lending her sister some of her personal property under the condition that she would be mature about it. The sister reading out the sex scenes in front of her family is just insane, especially since the book Haunting Adeline is very graphic.
Plus the sister wasn't so much not embarrassed of reading smut, as she was going out of her way to make her sister uncomfortable and embarrass her. Plus bringing it up constantly and telling everyone kind of feels like she might actually be shaming her sister for reading smut
This exactly!
I agree, I was surprised at the verdict. The younger sister sounds obnoxious. What grown adult thinks reading sex scenes in books aloud TO THEIR PARENTS AND SIBLING is funny? Especially when they’ve been asked to stop!

The wedding story makes me so sad. It's wild that she feels the need to explain herself so much, and still decided she was actually in the wrong. I can't help but wonder if she's in a culture that expects women was dream of getting married above all else, if everyone around her thinks she so crazy for not wanting to be coerced into marriage.
It’s like he expected her to be so caught off guard and feel like she had to comply.
The fact that she feels guilty for her decision afterwards... her bf literally made her feel like her rejecting the marriage caused him financial distress, but like no, YOUR stupid decision caused this. Gaslighter 101.

It gives me some deep ick.
The whole "We can't afford another wedding" is manipulative AF. She needs to get out. That update was horrifying.
He was stating a fact - "I spent the money, it will take a couple of years to save up for another one"
I mean, it's not as if money is an actually quantifiable thing that we use numbers and units to keep track of or anything... Apparently, simply mentioning that money exists is emotionally manipulative now 🤦♀
@@CrashSable Because he made a unilateral decision about the wedding, using their joint wedding fund to throw the surprise wedding. That is a red flag for a lot of people.
@@CrashSable well, he mentioned the money WAY after the fact and made the decision completely on his own. When she reacted negatively to it, he wasn't responsive and open to thinking about why what he did garnered a negative response.
If my partner did that with me, I'd be anxious as fuck having been surprised with a random wedding with no prior mental and emotional prep. How is that fun?
@@baambooob i agree he was a stupid a-hole, but i dont think saying "im sorry but we cant afford another one for a while" afterwards. what wouldve been manipulative is if during the event, he tried to guilt her to stay like "well i spent a lot of money on this and if we dont do it today we'll have to wait years, so you should stay for my sake." its different than objectively saying "we cant afford another one any time soon"
@@kaitlynmorgan4613 It can be manipulative in both cases. We don't know how he presented her with the fact. If they had already agreed to disagree, but still wanted to get married, bringing up how they can't afford it for a few years CAN be holding her refusal over her head (holding a grudge even when you've already agreed to let the matter pass), which IS manipulative. But he could also have just brought it up when they were discussing what they actually wanted from their real wedding and what the budget for that would be like. We don't know the situation.
