“Some people’s friends are creepy and it is up to those people to correct that behavior.” I was hiking with my girlfriends in the mountains and we were passing by a bench with three dudes of our age. One if them whistles. His friend turns over knocking this dudes beer out if his hand and snaps “we don’t do that!” I had a lot of appreciation and respect to that reaction.

One of my friends once told me to stop talking about my interests cause no one wants to hear about it and it legit took me years to feel like I could be open about what I enjoy again. That shit really messes you up. I feel so bad for the woman.
I have ADHD (which means I hyperfixate AND feel easily rejected) and ever since someone said they didnt care about my interests Im second-guessing if people dislike me talking about my interests every time I talk about them

I grew up with both my brother and cousin who LOVED to talk to me about their special interests!! I find it so wholesome when people do it 😭😭 I worked as a camp counselor and had countless kids just talk and talk about video games or tv shows, it was great! Idunno even if I'm not interested in the material it's nice to see people happy to talk about their favorite things. Whatever the first guy was on I hope he learned and grew from that situation and I hope the coworker is having a great time with the replacement!

Ikr. I was so glad to hear the update where apparently everyone has been pretty cold to OP. Personally I'd never be able to look at someone the same way if they told somebody to "shut up" and that "nobody cares", for just talking about something that makes them happy! For me, even if it's something I personally don't care about at all, just seeing a friend/good coworker/etc be genuinely excited and happy is enough to make me enjoy the conversation. I don't have to give a shit about Transformers, if the person talking about it really loves them then there's still a lot of interesting/entertaining conversations you can have without being personally attached to the interest itself. Sounds like the OP is just a really boring and self-absorbed person if they're so completely unable to enjoy a conversation about someone else's interests, to the point of being angry and bothered by it. Even if you don't enjoy the conversations you can just, y'know, not participate?? Why go outta your way to yuck someone's yum

The con story is exactly why SOOOOO many women can’t attend or wander around cons by themselves and why I feel like a buddy system should be in place for cons.
It's something I never thought about but was wondering where were her friends that entire time? Or her parents? I feel like that's bad parenting to allow your kid to go to a convention alone for that situation in particular.

I was thinking the same thing. That girl should not have been wandering alone, especially when she’s so young and at her first convention. It’s a big crowd and you can lose each other very easily, and unfortunately there are mega weirdos who pray on lone girls. It’s best to have someone with you to help get out of that situation. It was very irresponsible of her friends and (hopefully present) guardian to let her wander alone. Thank god for those furries.
Literally at a convention I had an older man follow me and was on the phone with his friend describing exactly what I looked like, where I went, and how they could easily get ahold of me. And people wonder why we are afraid to be in places alone.

Same tho. Trying to decipher why someone picked the words they did to form a message can be telling. There are many ways to (re-)tell a story or event, in one well-known communication model there are four sides(with different intentions) to every message and one of them is revealing information about yourself as a person based on the way you say something. In short: Annoying, but vaild.

We love and appreciate peeps who do this at cons, nothing is more relieving than having someone step in and protect you, especially for someone like me who’s non-confrontational. It makes conventions and fandom communities feel safe💖

@@fraxinus_ash pretty sure in the faith, faithfulness is a core aspect of the religion. But pretty sure there has had to be something going on in the marriage beforehand for the husband to just divorce her over something someone else said without proof.

The con story gives me shivers. This boyfriend of hers sounds like he deminishes her independence, autonomy and dignity. You don't need to ask a partner for permission to travel unless, idk, pets or kids need to be looked after.

You can tell the average age of Smosh's audience has increased significantly bc we all flock to these videos like the Sunday paper and at least some of us genuinely want to watch them host a book club.

Really appreciate Noah for sharing that at 47:53 because it’s something that I think some guys don’t realise women have to go through. I remember this one particular instance when I had just turned 21 and a few friends and I were kinda bar hopping but decided to stay longer at one to get a bite to eat, the bar had a second floor and I said I’d go up and grab us a table. It was then that this awkward kid approaches me and asks if he could sit with me and “talk”. I politely told him no and said the other seats belonged to my friends. I watched the kid (I’m calling him a kid because I swear he looked 16-17 tops) return to his table out of the corner of my eye and saw him talking to an older guy who I’m pretty sure was his dad. About 10 minutes later, the _dad_ comes up to my table and starts trying to hit on me and offering to buy me a drink. Thankfully, this is when my friends showed up and one of my guy friends (who’s pretty big and intimidating) said something to him; I’m not sure exactly what he said, but the guy kinda put his hands up in the air and started backing off. I asked him what he said and my best (guy) friend basically said, “That guy looked like a creep and it looked like you were really uncomfortable so I asked [other guy friend] to tell him to back off.” This then led into a conversation where my 3 guy friends are recommending my other female friend and me different methods of self defence (obviously, we knew some, but I’m physically disabled so it’s a lot harder for me; they were giving tips of things I could do to defend myself even with a disability) and making sure we both owned pepper spray. One friend even texted us a link to a type of taser that his girlfriend keeps on hand when she’s out and about alone. This sounds weird, but it was honestly a really sweet moment because it made me realize how much my friends cared about me as well as the other women in their lives.

Yes! OP was lending her sister some of her personal property under the condition that she would be mature about it. The sister reading out the sex scenes in front of her family is just insane, especially since the book Haunting Adeline is very graphic.
Plus the sister wasn't so much not embarrassed of reading smut, as she was going out of her way to make her sister uncomfortable and embarrass her. Plus bringing it up constantly and telling everyone kind of feels like she might actually be shaming her sister for reading smut

My aunt and uncle had a surprise wedding. Their guests were all on a tour bus, thinking that they were all just coming to casual get together. No one at the ceremony was dressed up other than the wedding party. Their friends loved it. Then they bussed everyone to a local 'Castle' were everyone was given medieval costumes to wear for the reception, which was in a hall that was set up like an medieval feast.

It was just unfortunate that he didn't think about the issues of autonomy that that are important for such an important decision.

My middle school best friend (we're adults now, I've known her a long time) isn't exactly a furry herself, but writes a webcomic as a hobby that, due to the nature of the comic, is mostly read by furries. Through her, I've had a little exposure to the furry community and they pretty much seem like a wholesome group of people. Here's to the furries!
