  • The nation's labor market continues to defy expectations. Weekly unemployment claims fell to 228,000 last week, and the unemployment rate also slipped to 3.6%. Jeanna Smialek, Federal Reserve and economy reporter for The New York Times, joined CBS News to break down the status of the post-pandemic labor market.

The whole quiet quitting coined was stupid. The reality was that people just refocused their energy to a healthier work / life balance. In the end the company doesn't care if you work yourself to death. You have to take care of yourself first to be productive.

Quiet quitting… just established boundaries. Workmates and coworkers aren’t ‘family’.

Quiet quitting and just out right quitting is very much still going on.

Quiet quitting is still a thing. People are creating strong boundaries to avoid burning out, sometimes finding a better job that provides balance.

We The People are creating new employment niches. Retirees are back because we can't afford our 'quiet retirement.' TAX THE RICH. HOUSE THE HOMELESS. FEED THE HUNGRY. HEALTHCARE FOR ALL. REGULATE DEREGULATION. Rent up in Florida 30% in one year.

this piece is dishonest. The job market right now and tech is terrible and anyone who says otherwise is lying. There’s simply not enough roles* and there are massive layoffs companies like Microsoft and meta-have had several rounds of layoffs of thousands of people. Not to mention the out of control, inflation spurred by the war in Ukraine. I’d venture to say that this economy is worse than 2008.

The war in Ukraine has nothing to do with inflation. The money printing during COVID is to blame and the money printing before COVID etc... A war doesn't cause inflation

Yep full cap... 2 years ago they said that there was a lack of cybersecurity specialist. There are no entry level cybersecurity jobs. All the jobs ask for seniors that have at least 5 years of experience on a major company.

I had an intern who retired 10 years ago and she was 10yrs older than me. She just can’t afford to retired. But unfortunately she was not able to cope with the stress at work. Work till you still can.

Same. Its CBS, so of course they will not portray the truth. They have no clue the reality of it all. I am a 37 year old full time working nurse, my husband works full time , and we have 3 children. They have no clue the struggles.

Honest question for the comment section: Do you believe more women are working now than ever because they want to, or because they feel they have to?
