Not really surprising - Americans love anything that they view as quintessentially British - you could do cheese rolling, bog crawling or morris dancing and get the same effect
It's such a civilized show. Everybody competes, but nobody is mean. I refer to Paul and Mary as "England's fun couple." They have such a wonderful rapport. I love watching them.
WatchMojoUK I mean we Americans really like food and if it's a video reviewing a show about baking we will most likely to watch it. I remember no. 1. She never once apologized to the guy or explained to the judges that she messed up his cream, just kept her mouth shut during the elimination to save her own skin.
I felt so sorry for Iain, and it's bullshit that the ice cream was left out for less than a minute because it takes more than a minute for ice cream to turn into as much of a liquid as it did, even on a hot day. Dianna was a fucking snake.
Agree! No way was it left out for less than a minute. Regardless of how long it took (it was a hot day so it may not have been long, but certainly longer than a minute), it was long enough to turn it to slush. That said, I believe it was a complete accident. She did leave the show due to it.
She left the show for medical issues. And EVERYONE had issues with melty cream. It was literally the hottest day of the year the day they filmed that episode and the equipment wasn't sufficient to counter it (contestants have complained about that before. Had the show had a blast chiller, it'd been a non-issue).
Even if it WAS only left out for a minute at that point, how long was she going to keep it out?! She only said it was out the freezer when he went looking for it
I love how the contestants will band together to help someone finish their bake so that they have something to present to the judges. I've seen up to 4 people jump in to help out.
felt sorry about him going, but I think he desserved to go for the reaction, he could have presented that mess, the judges could have taste id and judge its flavor, and if it was good its possible that he would have stayed, and the old guy that played safe all the time would have been the one going
9 months later, but as someone that can relate to the "if it doesn't look perfect, it's TERRIBLE" mentality that artists of both the culinary and drawing/sculpting variety are sometimes cursed with, his reaction is normal. He's probably done the same before with smaller things and it's just something out of his immediate control.
@@destroya21 I understand and sympathize with that, but really, this is a cooking show. Presentation is only part of it. There have been countless incidents over the different series where a baker has been saved from being kicked off because their bakes tasted good, even if they didn't look good. He should have controlled that reaction and presented them with something. It's always better to present something than nothing. What's the worst that could have happened if he had shown them what he had? They'd have said "It's a shame your ice cream melted", but maybe he would have survived to the next episode. It is unfortunate what happened, he didn't have any control over someone removing his ice cream from the freezer, but in the end what he had control over was his response, and I'd bet he is kicking himself now over how he reacted.
That whole baked alaska thing is so bizarre to me....when you come upon a fellow contestants food in a freezer, the correct course of action is NOT to leave it out on a counter, even if it was for less than a minute. What sort of madness took hold of her to tell her that was alright?
ThatAussieGirl Then why was Iain’s the only ice cream that was reduced to liquid? There were other ice creams in that freezer. And why would Diana take it out in the first place? “Less than a minute” or not...
Linda Stewart me too and i agree. Have u watched the irish, and the Australian one as well? The aussie one is great for season 2 and 3 esp the hosts are dolls. I thought i would never like anyone but Mary and paul but they are sooo charming.
kitty mom Thank you!! I didn't know about the other shows!! Wow! I will be watching them post haste! I have tried so many recipes because of TGBBS... !! 🍰🎂🍮🍪🍩. Cheers for baking shows!
Linda Stewart me too even got the courage to attempt macarons (successfully i might add!) Ya the irish only has 2 challenges an eo unfortunately. So like week 1 would be signature and technical. Then week 2 would be technical and show stopper. Still good tho. The Australian season 2 and 3 is better than the 1st as they changed judges. Its great tho.. there is a professional version that is a lot diff but still baking. Its bake off creme de la creme. It isnt as good though.. I am all out of episodes so i am watching france's version Le Meilleur Pâtissier. Wish u spike french bcuz their version seems great.
kitty mom I love biscotti !! And made Paul's orange zest and hazelnut biscotti.. they are delicious! I haven't tried the macarons yet.. the desserts are so different then in the US.. I love the meat filled pasties or pies.. I think too the contestants are so much kinder then the baking shows here.. they help each other if they have time.. there is no yelling or poor sportsmanship.. I had to go to google to help explain some of the terms. I didn't know what castor sugar was! Now I love whizzing the table sugar in my blender to get it softer. Fun stuff!!
Just finished watching the 8 seasons that are available in the US. This cut out the best part of Cathrine's dough throwing. "I can't serve Mary Berry green Carpet". Just the way she says it with her accent it funny and awesome.
Everything about this show is a delight. Don't get me wrong, I love me some of the highly competitive cutthroat, cussing and swearing drama fueled American reality cooking competitions too but GBBO is on another level. It's is just so *soothing* and the camaraderie and sportsmanship that all the contestants show is awe-inspiring. Plus, I get the giggles every time Paul says "soggy bottom".
This is, hands down, my favorite culinary competition program!!! I love seeing the British sense of humor in play, and the utter skill and determination of the contestants!!! I'm so sad that it has already finished for this year!!!
I watched Bake off for Comic relief and I realized now why so many people watch it. It's amazing. I love the sweet nature of it and how it is about the baking and the contestants rather then the drama. And the hosts can be encouraging at times instead of constantly demeaning. We will never have something like this in the States.
I'm from the USA and I love this show. It has inspired me to do more baking. The baked Alaska episode was really heartbreaking if that had happened over here the lady would have probably worn the melted ice cream for a hat.
Hello, American here. Just want to say that this is better than any other cooking show I've ever watched because it is so pleasant and polite and everyone is endearing. This is honestly the only cooking show I can tolerate and I LOVE IT. Also, my mom and I still bring up the melted baked Alaska incident... it's a very heated topic in our household.
Ok but like even if Nancy accidentally left Ian's cream out for a bit he was still an idiot for throwing away the rest of his bake. You always bring at least something to the table, you don't just throw a hissy fit and quit because one aspect was bad.
The dude who knocked his cake on the floor managed to rescue one tier and put it up. Since he'd done genoise, which is super difficult, they were impressed and he made it through. Dude should have brought up what he could.
When Diane didn't come back the week after leaving the other contestant's ice cream out of the freezer, I figured she was booted off or was too ashamed to come back.
Less than a minute? Really? Well she still shouldn't have done it. You don't just take someone's icecream or if the freezer and leave it there. I believe she had a heart episode after that and had to leave. She probably felt guilty.
Our whole family loves this show. Such a pleasant combination of polar attributes: polite yet competitive, low-key yet dramatic, simple yet elegant, understated yet powerful. We could learn a thing or two from the Brits.
That "Diane" Had No Right 2 Move Anybody's Bakes & She Knew It! Producers Go Over The Rules Many Times. Then She Tries To Say She Thought IAN Had His Own Freezer! And "ONLY A MINUTE" Is an ETERNITY If Your In A Tent With 12 Ovens Going At The Same Time AND Its 100 Degrees Outside! So They Kick Ian Off & Diane NEVER Returns Due 2 "HEALTH REASONS." (she left bcuz she was humiliated)! So They Lost TWO Bakers Which Means IAN Could Have Stayed Or Been Called Back. =(

Homestarfan13 Great idea. We will definitely note that one down. You can 'officially' put your idea forward on our suggest page www.watchmojo.com/suggest/ and we will credit you for it if the video gets made!
During tonight's episode, on Twitter people were saying Liam's jelly not setting was because Diane was still lurking around the tent all these years later and removed it from the fridge.
I am not sure what it is that this show has. I do not like cooking shows, I do not like reality shows, but for some bizarre reason the bake off has me addicted.
Nadiya's speech should have been way higher. Also YES Iain deserved to leave that week. He should have served the sloppy mess, not thrown it in the bin the big baby 😂
still pissed off about ian from season 1. damn old lady sabotaged him hard. best she didnt join the next episode either out of guilt or hate comments >.>
K Russell Because there's this longstanding armed truce. It's the "To U or not to U, that is the question" conundrum, where Americans insist that colour is spelled with no U and us Brits insist that it's spelled with a U. That's only one of the many, many grievances we have with eachother.
We're not? If anything Americans do it, somehow they think they're better and compare everything they do to us, nothing in this show or about this show is american
@@jenniewright3045 Since when do we compare ourselves to Brits all the time and think we're better? In my 3.5 decades in the US, I've seen nothing but adoration of anything British from my friends and family, some to the point of hilarious and rather illogical obsession. We kinda put UK culture on a pedestal, tbh.

That just shows an entitlement on her part that boils my blood. “Oh there’s no room; I’ll just move Ian’s and not even have the courtesy to tell him.” Horrible woman. It’s also the show’s fault for providing insufficient, shoddy freezers, which they rectified in later series by giving everyone individual fridges. So they knew they were partially to blame.

Carrie Mansfield doesn't mean she gets off scott free after sabotaging someone else's bake tho
That old lady pissed me off
Even if it WAS only left out for a minute at that point, how long was she going to keep it out?! She only said it was out the freezer when he went looking for it
I love how the contestants will band together to help someone finish their bake so that they have something to present to the judges. I've seen up to 4 people jump in to help out.
I feel so sorry for Iain and I think he shouldn't have gone
ellie9311 they should have brought him back when Dianna went because of her injury
felt sorry about him going, but I think he desserved to go for the reaction, he could have presented that mess, the judges could have taste id and judge its flavor, and if it was good its possible that he would have stayed, and the old guy that played safe all the time would have been the one going
@@dheu Agrred! If John was able to stay on with his salt dessert then Iain had a very good chance to stay on if they'd had something to taste
In Mel's defense, if it only took that little bit of movement to topple it, then that biscuit tower never had a chance to begin with.
That whole baked alaska thing is so bizarre to me....when you come upon a fellow contestants food in a freezer, the correct course of action is NOT to leave it out on a counter, even if it was for less than a minute. What sort of madness took hold of her to tell her that was alright?
Wow
That's a nice alaska
Wouldn't it be a shame if
Someone took it out the freezer
Bingate and Custardgate: Sabotage at it's finest
TheBooshBabe custardgate wasn't on purpose though and she admitted it
ThatAussieGirl Then why was Iain’s the only ice cream that was reduced to liquid? There were other ice creams in that freezer. And why would Diana take it out in the first place? “Less than a minute” or not...
My friend and I saw the baked Alaska incident and we were furious

I am from the USA and I love this show!!! It is the best Baking, cooking show on the air!
Bingate was fkn emotional #justiceforIan
Umm where is val the cake whisperer
Everything about this show is a delight. Don't get me wrong, I love me some of the highly competitive cutthroat, cussing and swearing drama fueled American reality cooking competitions too but GBBO is on another level. It's is just so *soothing* and the camaraderie and sportsmanship that all the contestants show is awe-inspiring. Plus, I get the giggles every time Paul says "soggy bottom".
I loved the Dalek made of biscuits if anyone remembers.💜 Very creative.
This is, hands down, my favorite culinary competition program!!! I love seeing the British sense of humor in play, and the utter skill and determination of the contestants!!! I'm so sad that it has already finished for this year!!!
Nadia winning in the final was the 1st and only time I’ve ever cried from watching a show about baking
Hello Zarah
Years from now, with my dying breath, I will call out, "justice for Iain."
Hello Sharna
i seriously love Bake Off so much. so stoked we finally have a British Watch Mojo Channel.
Little Miss Sunshine I
Hello Lucy
unpopular opinion, but noel and sandy are better than mel and sue
vee I agree!
It was shown that she wasn't actually responsible for it. Another contestant had left the freezer door open, while piping his own dessert.
You always bring at least something to the table, you don't just throw a hissy fit and quit because one aspect was bad.
but still tho
The dude who knocked his cake on the floor managed to rescue one tier and put it up. Since he'd done genoise, which is super difficult, they were impressed and he made it through. Dude should have brought up what he could.
I'm not mad at Diane, it may well have been an accident. But I was very surprised she didn't insist on taking Ian's place. I would have.
I'm waiting for the time when Deborah stole Howard's custard
Iain doesn’t deserve the loss my mum and I knew that it was Diana and Diana was struggling too . When Iain had to say goodbye Diana was SMILING!!!!!!
Ngl I'm still annoyed about the bingate incident
Hello Jess
I really like the builder who made the "eclair stairs"
Was this the guy who always had a pencil behind his ears? If that's who you mean, yes, he was really good.
Richard!!!
On Paul's Lion Bread...Even Hollywood seemed stunned.
When Diane didn't come back the week after leaving the other contestant's ice cream out of the freezer, I figured she was booted off or was too ashamed to come back.
Hello Susan
1. ALL OF RAHUL
Ngl I'm still annoyed about the bingate incident
Hello Jess
i miss mel and sue. i miss someone bringing out the dancing girls and the orange segments but not being able to due to budget cuts😭😭😭
This is by far the best baking show!! I’m in the US and I’m hooked. Amazing talent and hilarious.
Hello Giselle
Too much talking would've preferred 10 full video clips
Less than a minute? Really? Well she still shouldn't have done it. You don't just take someone's icecream or if the freezer and leave it there. I believe she had a heart episode after that and had to leave. She probably felt guilty.
Our whole family loves this show. Such a pleasant combination of polar attributes: polite yet competitive, low-key yet dramatic, simple yet elegant, understated yet powerful. We could learn a thing or two from the Brits.

I, as a rule, never watch WatchMojo. But, how can you not? But if the custard thievery isn't on here...
This show is my happy place.
I love mel and sue SO FRIGGEN MUCH also im American and i love this show i mean i love our cooking shows too I LOVE COOKING SHOWS
Also i feel bad for ian still he shouldn't of gone home >>;
Ian came to my school to judge our mini gbbo
bakeoff is literally one of my favorite shows ever. it’s amazing, and it actually teaches me things to boot. i love it 🥺
Please make top 10 Inbetweeners moments.
I have a bit of a DILF crush on prison governor Paul. Was sad to see him leave.
Nadia got her own Netflix original about cooking
Too much talking and not enough funny clips
ahh .. the studly squirrel ...
What about Dorret's Black Forrest Gateau that looked more like a sneeze? Surely that deserves some recognition?
still pissed off about ian from season 1. damn old lady sabotaged him hard. best she didnt join the next episode either out of guilt or hate comments >.>
I'm British but why are they constantly comparing themselves to Americans?
K Russell
Because there's this longstanding armed truce. It's the "To U or not to U, that is the question" conundrum, where Americans insist that colour is spelled with no U and us Brits insist that it's spelled with a U. That's only one of the many, many grievances we have with eachother.
Popular television generally involves American or British productions. As with any poll on popularity, you'll get the "who's better?" debate.
What about the time when the guy stuck his hand in the mixer when it was running and paramedics had to be called 😂😂
DaBossKing 28 WHAT SEASON AHABA OMG
@@melokelo 2012, S3; the mixer wasn't running, he was taking dough out of it and ran his finger along the blade. There was a lot of blood and although he tried to carry on he was sent to hospital.
What about Andrew's "jousting" knights? Paul's reaction was the best.
Nadiya is such an amazing lovely person ♥
Iain was doing really well too on the show. Shame.
This sexy accent of you british people...😍
Awww thank you, as a born and bred Londoner thats lovely to read
Abel Oliveira, I speak Doric. I wonder what you would make of that.
Scottish Mum so lemme hear it
Alishaba Butt lemme hear it
Try a Birmingham accent. Urgh
0:58 That's what American Bake off shows are missing a squirrel with a big knob.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bingate still annoys me when I think about it. So what if it was out of the freezer for less than a minute? She shouldn’t have touched his dish!
What about Andrew's knights who were supposed to be jousting but their jousts looked like... well, the knight version of the squirrel shown at #10!
I love the GGBO show, but I don’t understand the British obsession with knocking down the Americans at every turn. Seems gratuitous and is tiresome.
The baked alaska incident pissed me off so much!
I found it interesting that Diana became “ill” and was unable to continue after “Bingate.”
She lost her sense of taste and smell after a fall
she pissed me off. Diana seemed like a kind older lady until she left took Ian's dish out of the freezer 😡She 100% percent knew it was going to absolutely ruin his Alaska and just didn't care. A simple "can somebody get their cake out of my fridge?" would have resolve the entire situation
I miss Mary, Mel and Sue!!!!
The guy, Noel is a frightening person-truly scary.
Please Netflix Canada🇨🇦
Ashleigh Jaima Osborne -you can watch it on CBC tv app, seasons 4 thru 10
Hello Jaime
The comment about American baking shows was uncalled for. Try being a humble human once in awhile.
Nadiyah inspired me to keep pushing myself in what I want to do! Her win, her tears, her husband, and Mary crying still make me tear up
Who live in the USA and finding something to watch on Netflix this show is my comfort show even I didn't mind the guy and female host but I prefer the two female from s1-s4 they always make me laugh sad they didn't come back for the rest of the season
I know that this isn't super plot based, but just FYI, there are spoilers about who wins in here, if you haven't watched the video yet.
Nice of you to think of others and say.
theConquerersMama Aww, thanks 😁
