      Not really surprising - Americans love anything that they view as quintessentially British - you could do cheese rolling, bog crawling or morris dancing and get the same effect

      WatchMojoUK I mean we Americans really like food and if it's a video reviewing a show about baking we will most likely to watch it. Also I don't know what you were expecting but not all Americans are trash and actually most people are really nice people and can take a joke and won't get automatically offended, like I actually thought that the jokes you made against us was pretty funny and did make me laugh. I just want you to know that we aren't all like Trump.

    As an American, I love GBBO so much more than American cooking competitions. None of my friends understand the appeal. It's not cutthroat. They don't win a bunch of money or their own baking show or a kitchen full of supplies. They do it because they love baking. They also get to practice, which blows my friends' minds. And I just love how contestants will help other contestants.

      Blame Louis. He took over the big freezer and didn't budge. P Hollywood said Ian's dish was out for all of 40 seconds.
      And If a refrigerator is located adjacent to bake space you can assume it's designated for you. I would assume that. Mgmt should have made that all very clear.
      Ian didn't want to take on Louis so we went to the older ladie's area where he could bully the ladies. You need to watch the show carefully. n.b. Louis is using 2 hands kneading while leaning directly over large OPEN freezer. He really was hovering, bending down directly over the refrigerator and as Ian approaches Louis hunkers possessively down directly over the group freezer rolling a ball of dough with each hand not budging from. the space.
      Did you know Louis (3rd place) TOOK A YEAR OFF WORK TO PRACTICE BAKING EXPLICITLY FOR THE GBBO SHOW?
      Producers, editors deliberately edit the show to make it more human interest at Diana's expense. She has never recovered from that. Wrong wrong wrong! The lady is about 70. She was mortified! Really it was awfully mean spirited and low down dirty trick. I'm not 100% for Diana but that episode was incredibly MEAN SPIRITED.

      But I've got to ask, the most obvious question: Have you actually seen The Great British Bake Off?!
      If your answer is no, then how can you comment on something you've never seen.
      As all your doing is basing your opinion on your perception. Instead of your experience of watching it!

      I agree. USA 'reality' shows and cooking competitions are almost always characterized by fights, arrogant people, rude behavior and language, etc. "The Great British Bake Off" is a breath of fresh air: civilized, nice (and unique) people taking part, and an atmosphere of politeness that is lacking on most American shows. • @zammmerjammer
      @zammmerjammer 7 лет назад +16

      It's because American reality TV show producers are all hacks who need to take a few remedial English literature and/or drama classes so they can learn that "conflict" is not the same as "fighting." Any great drama needs conflict, but the Great British Bake-off has plenty of drama without people trying to claw each other's eyes out over a bit of homemade jam or whatever.

      9 months later, but as someone that can relate to the "if it doesn't look perfect, it's TERRIBLE" mentality that artists of both the culinary and drawing/sculpting variety are sometimes cursed with, his reaction is normal. He's probably done the same before with smaller things and it's just something out of his immediate control.

    • @dheu
      @dheu 5 лет назад +6

      @@destroya21 I understand and sympathize with that, but really, this is a cooking show. Presentation is only part of it. There have been countless incidents over the different series where a baker has been saved from being kicked off because their bakes tasted good, even if they didn't look good. He should have controlled that reaction and presented them with something. It's always better to present something than nothing. What's the worst that could have happened if he had shown them what he had? They'd have said "It's a shame your ice cream melted", but maybe he would have survived to the next episode.
      It is unfortunate what happened, he didn't have any control over someone removing his ice cream from the freezer, but in the end what he had control over was his response, and I'd bet he is kicking himself now over how he reacted.

    We love this show for so many reasons. Here in the states, scenarios are set up to create unnecessary tensions between participants and the creativity and humanity is lost in the process of manipulation. This show always leaves us feeling inspired and happy. We love how the contestants really become a caring sort of family. We love seeing classic creations that are not common in the states. I love that they just come right in and start creating, none of that " Big Brother/Survivor" crap that pits people against each other. These folks have their moments but they are descent and genuine and we end up really caring about these folks. I just hope that as it becomes more popular here in the states they don't allow it to be mucked up. It's just perfect the way it is.....just real people....being sincere and creative.

Even though I am not usually that into cooking shows, the Great British Bake Off is both so entertaining, and also informative. This is definitely one of the best videos about the show, as it is funny, and also has all of the best moments. Almost all of the best moments from the different episodes were all really in this post, and it is so funny that these were the things included in this post. Probably the best moments out the ten listed here would definitely have to be numbers five and three.

    I’m watching episode 5 (season 1) this week. For the Pies & Tarts episode, they announced in the beginning of the show that Diana fell ill and would not return.
    I highly doubt she fell ill. It was noticeable how she seemed quite put off with some of the challenges and I think she either got grief from taking Ian’s Alaska out of the freezer or just didn’t want to be humiliated by being eliminated, which she was probably next.
