    "Morphy's defence, Andersson variation"
An extreme rare case of players playing their own defence. I love it.

    edit: The move order from move 40 according to the Anderssen book: 40.Kg3 Re7 41. Kf4 Kh7 42. Kg3 Re3 43. Kf4 Re8 44. Kg3 Re3 drawn.

Multiple witnesses of this game agree that Morphy shouted out loud "Morphy's defense !" and Anderssen "Anderssen variation !" while playing their signature moves. It is at that exact moment that Morphy's hair, usually flat, took the shape he is now famous for.
Testimonies of his hair turning gold and eyes becoming blue, however, are usually considered apocryphal.
