Ben: * talking * Sarah: 🤗 Ben: Sarah what do you think? Sarah: 🫨 Love the video, great to see you two visit and meet my other favorite running creators!
Awesome video bro. I can't wait for the continuation! On Sunday I Ran my First Marathon! I'm 15 and I'm going to post a video documenting my trainings, the actual marathon and the obstacles. Subscribed to watch the continuation 👍
Ohhhhh!!! That little map thing at the beginning ❤ (at 0:20). It was such an epic weekend !! It was hard coming back home yesterday 😅. Again: loved seeing you both! Hope to catch you again in North America 🎉
Cheers for sharing Ben! It was great to hear more stories from Chicago. An incredible race and atmosphere this year and I can't wait to see the next video for the race. It was good to meet you and Sarah before the flight back to London 😀👍🏻.
Hi Ben! I was the guy who said hi to you and Sarah in the worlds longest queue at the airport 😂 Just wanted to let you know I trundled round in 2:53:25 for a 6 minute pb in my 2nd ever marathon using the L4 plan! Huge thanks for putting together a great guide!
And I was the other guy (must've been many many more, the queue was unbelievable!) 4:26:04 in my 4th ever marathon, over an hour improvement from London '22 and half hour improvement from Valencia '22. See you in Valencia this year!!
I really enjoyed this video. I think apart from your lovely merch, the fashion highlight was you and Sarah in a bin bag with a cap over the hat. Killing it!
Nice bin bag-ah I miss Chicago and the training block...lol For someone who lives bang on GMT-4:46 in the Chicago AM is an hour off lunchtime you lightweight!!!
Hello @BenParkes. Very important question: Have you ever used imodium during race or maybe before just in case? Did it realy help? Greetings from Poland
Hi Ben! One question: still plant based? I used to love your good old what I eat in a day videos😃 I’d definitely binge on some more similar to this one! Good luck with all upcoming races, you’re a huge inspiration for me. Plant based runner too, I am going to run my first ever marathon in Pisa in December!
My mum who lives in New Zealand visited my wife and I in America at the end of September, and she couldn't get over how prevalent Pumpkin & Halloween stuff is here.
Is there something you would do differently in the 24 hours before Valencia (A-race), since Chicago is only a C-race in your schedule? Or will you approach Valencia in the same way as Chicago?
I take it after I go to the loo on the morning of the race. So maybe around an hour before the start. Like a lot of runners I occasionally have toilet issues in training runs, but have never had an issue during a race if I take it.
@@BenParkes Interesting, I was wondering about this too. During my training to this Chicago I took Imodium for my last long run and I really bonked and thought it was because the Imodium made me absorb the carbs of the gels much more slowly or later than I wanted. Didn't take Imodium for the race and felt the gels worked great.
Can't believe you omitted the shoes from the kit part of the video. On your race photos it looked like you had the Nike Ultrafly on? Or a Vaporfly 3 in a similar white / grey EK colourway...
We don't do anything specific.. just try to go to bed/wake up at the right time for where we are. Sure there are lots of tips and tricks .. but I've never looked up any, just get on with it!
I think they sometimes play Vangelis - Chariots Of Fire.. that's the unofficial London anthem. But yes, every American race I've ever done has had the national anthem just before the start!
Sorry to hear that Tony. I was told the run part was starting at 10:30.. can only apologise. It was so hectic I didn’t actually realise it started early until it had finished. Hopefully see you at another one soon.
That's not that early...I wake up at 4 am everyday to get my workout run, walk my dog, shower eat and head to work around 630ish. of course this was before I hurt my foot a few weeks ago :( but seeing this guy running after viewing his ankle surgery videos gives me hope I can return to runnng soon!
Big fan Ben, but: Given the amount of bagels you eat, when you come to New York you seriously need to upgrade your bagel game and get some good real bagels… 😊
I love how your voice is monotone leading up to the race, then soars as soon as it begins.
Your love for running is contagious.
It was lovely meeting both you and Sarah at the kofuzi shakeout run!
I got a 40min marathon pb 🔔following your running plan, so thank you 🙌🏻
Awesome Allison!! All your hard work paid off. Congratulations and lovely to meet you!!

Nice to see you too Pat! Looking great in your hoodie (thank you!) Hope you had a lovely weekend in Chicago with everyone 🙌
Ben you looked like you were having a very anxious moment just before the start. Congrats on keeping it together and smashing this race! Way to go!
Cheers for sharing Ben! It was great to hear more stories from Chicago. An incredible race and atmosphere this year and I can't wait to see the next video for the race. It was good to meet you and Sarah before the flight back to London 😀👍🏻.
10:18 It's Whacky Waving Inflatable Arm Guy!
I saw you running in the Chicago Marathon! So cool. Hope you enjoyed the race and my hometown.
10:27 Wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man! - Al Harringtons! 😂😂
Awesome Ben! Saw you make a surprise appearance on Eric Floberg’s channel
Hope to join in on the fun at a world major marathon soon

Fantastic Ian. Congratulations to you!! That’s awesome 🙌 nice to meet you!
Hi Ben. Great to see you uploading lots of videos, brilliant to watch... are you planning a shake out run in Valencia? See you there getting it done 👍
Hopefully yes!!
Good luck Ben, a great motivating channel 🎉
I really enjoyed this video. I think apart from your lovely merch, the fashion highlight was you and Sarah in a bin bag with a cap over the hat. Killing it!
Looks like a super fun trip :) Looking forward to the race video!
Ben love this video - it’s good to see both you and Sarah this relaxed - keep talking rather than performing Ben it suits you ❤
Loved this different type of video. Variety is the spice of life after all! 👍🏻
Nice bin bag-ah I miss Chicago and the training block...lol
For someone who lives bang on GMT-4:46 in the Chicago AM is an hour off lunchtime you lightweight!!!
Sarah is not alone in her love of those blow up things! I always laugh whenever I see one! 😂😂😂
I love the fact that Sarah has Taylor Swift as her home screen on her phone, not Ben!
The Imodium before the race has been a game changer, I don’t know why what I didn’t start doing that sooner 😂
Great video Ben!
Thank you Christopher!
Love your videos ❤
Please do a Valencia shakeout ! Love the vids
@SarahPlace is a Swiftie! 😀
You should've brought back the Union Jack shirt! 😂Great video, as always!
Hello @BenParkes. Very important question: Have you ever used imodium during race or maybe before just in case? Did it realy help? Greetings from Poland
Loving the green and yellow top and hat combo Ben. Can’t wait to see the next video for the race. Hope it went well for you both. 👍

Yes, still the same! 🙂
My mum who lives in New Zealand visited my wife and I in America at the end of September, and she couldn't get over how prevalent Pumpkin & Halloween stuff is here.
Eating Chipotle the night before a race is an extraordinary gamble. ;)
😂
I was going to say the same... 😅
We have it quite a bit.. never given me any issues!
My go-to for out of town races! Can pick the add on that suits you. Tho, I prefer the bowl
Kofuzi and Ben Parkes on the same run, the day my RUclips wish comes true. 🎉
You had Chipotle the night before the race? Absolute mad man.
Worked for me! 😋
We had it after rather than before!
@@BenParkes clearly! Congrats!!! 🔔🔔🔔
Hi @Ben parkes . Please can you give review about asics gel kinsei max
I’ve never ran in that one I’m afraid
@@BenParkes any disadvantages of using it gel kinsei max
Just saw you in the Floberg Run channel 😊
Brilliant turnout 👏
The absolute toughest part of a marathon has to be waking up super early😢
Absolutely 😐
Bro what that’s the best part. Love the energy you get right away
@@samwoodward2676 i just posted a short. Maybe this is one of the best parts 😉
@@jassaljs the marathon is easy 🤔 well if you decide to have fun like in my latest short😁
The toughest for me is to sleep earlier tha usual 😂😂😂
Is there something you would do differently in the 24 hours before Valencia (A-race), since Chicago is only a C-race in your schedule? Or will you approach Valencia in the same way as Chicago?
You stayed at Uptown? I live two kilometers from there.
Do you take Imodium the morning of the race? Even if you are not poorly? Does that help with the nerves?
I'd actually like to know this, too, as I fear the dreaded Runner's Trots...
I take it after I go to the loo on the morning of the race. So maybe around an hour before the start. Like a lot of runners I occasionally have toilet issues in training runs, but have never had an issue during a race if I take it.

I do the same… a little insurance policy… 😂
4:45AM and Ben looks like he slept in sack of potatoes 😆

I talked about and showed the shoes on the morning of the race in this video. They were Nike vaporfly 3
11:00 lmao. " ahhh, uhhh, ahhh, guhhh. Feeling good." :)
How do you deal with jet lag? Or is that not an issue for you at all?
We don't do anything specific.. just try to go to bed/wake up at the right time for where we are. Sure there are lots of tips and tricks .. but I've never looked up any, just get on with it!
love the Americans and the anthem. they play it even at a local small 5km race. maybe time for London to do our anthem?
I think they sometimes play Vangelis - Chariots Of Fire.. that's the unofficial London anthem. But yes, every American race I've ever done has had the national anthem just before the start!
@@BenParkes yes it is chariots of fire.
Pasta with red sauce and guacamole is definitely a combo lol
Whaaat?! Pringles & guacamole? 🤯 We always eat ours with corn chips. Great video!
Corn chips would be good too!!
Boy Math ROCKS🤘
Ps love that green longsleeve ❤
Ayyyyy shout out London eats!
Curious what was special about the particular Banana 🍌 that @sarahplace had picked out?!
It was a reference to a Taylor Swift video.. very niche!
Shame you said the shake out was at 10:30, we just missed you at 10:15
Sorry to hear that Tony. I was told the run part was starting at 10:30.. can only apologise. It was so hectic I didn’t actually realise it started early until it had finished. Hopefully see you at another one soon.

Chipotle marathon dinner is risky business
Disagree. I’ve gotten chipotle before my last 5 marathons. Veggie burrito gives you everything you need
Left me on a cliff hanger
We want to ser you training ir trying shoes

Very excited for some NYC bagels! 😋
Not that banana, Ben!
Did you get a discount for feeding the fishies 🤔🤔🤔😂🤣😂😆
Haha.. there was a turtle to feed to! 😍
I could not do the high fats the day before a marathon I wouldn’t last 30 minutes
So many great grocery stores in chicago, y/all did not need to grocery shop at target lmao
Better than going to Walmart!
It was just the closest one to where we were staying! We didn’t really know any better
KT tape for the nips...far better and not as likely to come off during race....
