Seriously, with all these RUclipsrs running New York Marathon, Ben must by far be the best of them. 2:43 is by any standards a extremely good time. 227 place out of 50.000+. Mindblowing.
While filming!
nope, there's a fair amount of 220 time.
2.43 is a great time
While filming and narrating. Close to zone 2 running since he is almost talking in full sentences.
Brilliant stuff! What I like about running is that even we're not in the same galaxy ability wise, I can still relate to everything you're going through. :)
No kidding! I ran a 28 minute 5k today and felt like a rockstar 😂. The worst thing we can do is compare ourselves to others, especially guys like Ben that are so fast.
@@50Something true! I barely scraped together my one and only marathon, and I still know what it's like to hit the wall or to lose almost a year of progress because of an illness. Some things are just universal. 😂
It doesn't get easier, you just get faster.
Congratulations on your orange Cape of Awesomeness! So so happy for you. The roads love you and so do we!🎉❤
@@laurainthehaute918 The point of our race is to run the fabulous race, NOT to get the orange poncho.
Amazing achievement! The fact that you ran that course in 4h 11m when you were 15 years younger is a testament to your dedication to fulfilling your dreams through hard work and persistence. Kudos to you Ben, you are an inspiration!
Such an inspiring video! I was there too and LOVED every minute of it. I did it in 3:58, but will keep working hard to improve as you did through the last 15 years ❤️
Well done Julie! Great to hear you loved it too 🙌
Imagine being able to run a 38 min 10k whilst chatting in to a GoPro. Damn dude you can run!!
Running a very good time & still giving a commentary, I don't know how you do it mate! Looks like it was an amazing experience, so thankyou for taking those of us that can only dream of making it to NY along for the ride ❤
it's all relative to his own potential. it's 20 mins of his pb so what do you expect? if you ran 20 mins slower than youre pace you'd be able to do the same. seems more worried about videos than reaching potential atm. lame.
Ben is so entertaining that I sometimes forget he's fast as F. 2:45 training run.... Valencia is going to be a good one.
@BenParkes Great run and great video!🙌 Are you aiming to beat your 2:25 PB in Valencia?
People say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. They’re really just talking about the hills 😂 great run!!
Thank you Stephanie! 🙌
It is actually an old show-business quote, not a running quote about making it in New York.
so nice to meet u ben! new PR of 3:59 for me! was hoping for a little faster, but im still happy with the result. cramps hit me for the last 10 miles
Nice to meet you Steven! Congratulations on your new PR! 🙌
Love how you are using World Majors Marathons as training runs!! 🎉 Congrats on another great video and marathon!!! Can't wait to see what you do in Valencia 👏👏👊👊
Watched this when it dropped, but had to come back today after I got drawn to run this years NYC Marathon. It’ll be my first major. And I cannot wait!
Good luck Zak, enjoy!!
Well done Ben🎉 savage time!! I ran it in 2022 in 24deg heat and 83% humidity 😢 it ruined it for me and a lot of people. I feel like I need to go again lol I loved the course and the atmosphere is like nothing else!!!
Any runner who can run a marathon in under 3 hours has earned my respect!
Very true. Most sub 3 start with the same potential as those who scrape a sub 4; they just work smarter and harder. That's not knocking 4 hour runners, as that is where I'm at and I know what it takes to get to 4 hours.
Great time Ben !
Tough course ! Followed your plan for a 3.45 and got a PB of 3.46 - very happy !
Get a refund, 😉 congratulations , a tough course for a pb, 👏
Well done!! Superb running on that course!
Looks like a brutal course! Inspirational as always man, all the best with 2024 to all the supporters Ben and this channel, WE'LL GET 2024...DONE
Amazing to be able to re-live the race through your video Ben. This was my first ever marathon and as a long time NYC resident it was an absolute dream come true. I was so unsure of how I would do with the course and started off super conservative for the first 6 miles. This led to a nice negative split however and a finish time of 3.19. Am absolutely thrilled with how it went and I owe a lot of it to people like you who put out excellent content on how to train properly as well as motivate people to run and shoot for their goals. I can't wait to get back to regular training and improve more over the coming year. Hope to do another marathon next year. Awesome result Ben and glad you really enjoyed yourself out there as always!
Congratulations on your first marathon and awesome time!!
What an amazing race! You are correct, that was TOUGH, those bridges and the "climb" into Central Park were no joke! My first NYC and 18th overall and easily one of my favorites. Thanks for the great video, it was fun to watch and think back to that day. The death march to the exit was kinda cruel though, I have never had to walk so far to leave a race after finishing haha.
Yes, it took a long time to get out.. but still a lovely day overall. Well done!! 🙌
Well done Ben,I agree those hills go on forever I can’t believe I finished fourth Brit after breaking my fibula at the Boston marathon last year as you said never give up on your dreams great blog mate keep it up cp🏃🏻♂️🏴🇬🇧
Well done Craig!! What a fantastic come back 🙌🙌
Great job Ben! You're amazing! Yes I did do the NY marathon and I was looking for you... Disappointed I didn't see you but had a great time running the NY marathon. It was very difficult in my opinion but nevertheless it was a ton of fun and now very surreal.
Thanks for sharing your journey 😊
it was amazing, my favourite road marathon. Did CCC in September so worked hard to put at least some speed back in my legs but it bust my quads more than the Alps, glad you have your mojo back Ben!
Amazing video Ben, thanks! It was an amazing day :) a bit slower run for me but great race and incredible fans!
I’m so proud of you Ben, this brings tears to my eyes. You deserve this so much after everything you give to us, and after some bad luck recently. Can’t wait to see what you do in Valencia mate, I wish you all the luck in the world - Nik
Thank you very much Nik! 🙌
I was volunteering at the mile 23 water station. Saw you go by, cheered, and ended up dropping the cup I was holding 😅 That 5th avenue incline is TOUGH!
Thank you for volunteering 🙌 yes, I think that’s the hardest part of the course!!
So proud of you.Me and my Dad finnished th 5k the day before. He is 82 His first race.I finnished London 4/23/2023.Tower bridge my favorite part. When i go to London again would love to see You..................Dan T.
This was my second time running it…still my favorite Marathon to run.
Smashed it out of the park Ben! How you can vlog and run such a quick time is awesome! Gooooo Valencia!!!
Thanks so much Rachel!
Thanks for bringing back the memories, my one and only NYC marathon in 2013, a decade has passed.
You smile at the end says everything. What a hard course. Thank you for sharing your journey and the inspiration for my next ultra marathon Ultra trail Kosciusko 😊
Ahh thank you for this I’m running it next year and grateful for any advice and tips you’re incredible to run and film at the same time such an inspiration and a true gentleman of the running community
Sarah, the Run Step Get High music was a brilliant touch 🙌🏻. And of course, well done to you too, Ben-you're looking so much happier.
I edited this one.. usually do the race videos myself and Sarah does everything else 😊.. glad you liked it and the run steep music!!
Well in that case, well done on both counts!
I always look out for the NY marathon. When I was about 15, my Dad did the NY, London and Paris Marathons in the same year and that inspired me to start running myself. I'd love to do the same one day.
Do it, do it now, no excuses 😊
@@tednruth453well there are like trying to get a place!
I lucky to run it this year myself too (even making a brief appearance in your video :). What a race, wow. It's an amazing experience, let alone if you also manage a cracking run like you did. Well done Ben. Also, well done to Sarah for working in the Run Steep Get High theme music - I rewatched that Jamil's video ahead of this year's race.
Nicely done, as usual Ben! Shout out from CNY! Loved watching this race. Thanks for bringin us along! 😊👍
Amazing run Ben, you should be so very proud. Looking forward to seeing the video from Valencia
Amazing, amazing time, congratulations 🎊!!
Ben you absolute legend! Such an inspiration!
I started running 4 months ago and will be having my first 15k race in December. Can't wait to further build up and eventually run a marathon :)
Good luck in December!! 🙌
Love your honesty and vulnerability ❤
Chills and tears watching this and reliving it! It was such an unforgettable experience, thank you for capturing it on video!❤
Great video again Ben, well done on an amazing time. I ran too in my 1st NY marathon, super tough but got an 11 minute PB, very happy
Hey dude! Saw Sarah and you at the expo in line, awkwardly asked you both for a selfie with you sorta in the background, wanted to respect your personal space :). SO glad you had a great race. I'm writing this before I watch the video, I wonder how Sarah did?!
Sarah didn’t race this one. It’s so hard to get in .. all the best to you!! 🙌
Watching this, I was re-living all the pain I endured in the 2nd half of the race, and like you, I had to dig deep to finish 3.46. Was initially dissapointed with the time, but if people like you found it tough, then I know I can improve on that time, it was my debut marathon. Thanks for the great video!
Well done on digging deep to get your finish time!!
What a lad, congratulations
Cheers from 🗽
Delighted for you Ben! Great to see that big smile. With that time and elevation your clearly getting stronger. Can't wait to follow you on your Valencia journey.
NYC 2023 race was amazing, my favourite marathon to date, just edging out London. Ran with my partner to a 3:47 and we loved it.
Seeing those sights and crowds through your video has brought back some wonderful memories, even the hills and massive straight streets.
Brilliant Ben. Fully deserved Medal - great time. Massive pat on the back 🏃♂️
Legend, see you in Valencia!
WOOO HOOO!!! Congrats on some strong work out there, Ben! Thanks for the inspiration!
Great work, Ben! Will look out for you in Valencia - targeting my first sub-3 and fired up for it!
Good luck in Valencia!! 🙌
Fabulous effort and brilliant video, all the best in Valencia
Omg I can't believe I missed your NYC race video. Congratulations!!! I ran NYC for the second time and mile 24 got me. Had a great time regardless
The crowds and support was amazing!!!
Great effort Ben 👊🏻
I ran it in 2022 and it was a total nightmare, head and body gave up before half way but I got round , incredible support , ear splitting at times . Well done , brilliant time
Congratulations Ben, that is excellent time. 59th Street Bridge, coming out of Queens is the hardest hill climb ever!!! 🥵 This is the best marathon in the world, and what a beautiful day it was, I had so much fun. I finished 4:08.
Well done! Yes that bridge was very tough, but the crowds after were so good. 🙌
Wow you are such an inspiration, you run a 2.43 talking and taking video of urself, course and the crowd and that too the toughest major of all, I’m running NYC next year in 2024, love from India - Vikram
Great run. Wonderful to see you so happy. Cheers 🎉
Well done Ben. I really feel like we are watching you at your best. You seem very content and self confident at the moment! Love to see it!!!
Ben. What a run!!! Congrats!! Another great marathon!! Thanks for sharing your experience. Awesone result Ben, you're my hero.
Just brilliant seeing how happy you were at the finish 👍
Always heartwarming and pleasure to watch your video Ben. Super proud of you and thank you so much for the inspirations
My first NYC Marathon and I achieved a time of 3 hours and 20 minutes… I was surprised with how tough the circuit was, so congratulations on your great race and 2 hours and 43 minutes finish 👏 mind blowing pace
Well done to you!! 🙌
Was privileged to run this last Sunday myself. My fourth major and without doubt my favourite. That said, defo the hardest one I’ve done. Those bridges and long avenues which steadily rise were an absolute killer. Legs were like cement by mile 18. Really hope I get to do this one day again in the future.
Gobsmacking. Running 2:43, taking and filming in NYC Marathon. Best luck at Valencia. Ran it also for the second time. Amazing day for running.
So good to see you enjoying your running!
Wow, great run. thanks for video
Thanks for sharing your special day with us, watching from Tokyo!! Such a fun and inspiring video!! I’m running my full in two weeks time, it’s been 🔟 years since my last one😂
Thanks for recording this! What a fantastic race in a crazy hard course, but the crowds, the noise, the whole city was out there. It was really great
Congratulations Ben fantastic run. I did it in 2017 in the rain and you brought back some happy memories thank you and yes I remember how tough but wonderful it was.
Thanks for capturing what was the greatest run of my life!! Tough course, indeed. Congrats and best at Valencia!!
Well done Ben, awesome running. Rest up well for Valencia.
Absolutely SMASHED that Ben!! Once again a very inspiring performance!
Brilliant. Love the positivity,
Great video. I also ran it Sunday. My first marathon, nyc resident of 6 yrs. 3:52. 29yo. Look forward to doing another.
Thanks Ben
Ben, love how you threw in Jamil's music when you mention him inspiring you to run with the GoPro. As always, love the video. Well done with the effort in NY and best wishes for Valencia. Keep getting out done!!!
You had an amazing run, great video and you seem to have out sprinted a lot of people, I finished in NYCM 4:28 there was a lot of people finishing when I finished, I want to go back and run it again, crowd support was amazing after waiting around for so long.
Awesome running Ben well done, love watching your videos xx
you are such an inspiration
What a cheerful person you are. Incredible finish time, great running. Enjoying your videos and channel much. Thanks.
I ran NYC once back in 2015. It's such an exciting and beautiful course. The bridges are brutal however. I even cracked a metatarsal in my left foot miles before the finish line probably pounding it out on one of the bridges. I'll be back someday for a do over.
Congratulations! Love the way you smile throughout and make it look (almost) easy.
What a great performance, Ben! You appear to be in a much better place these days and we’re happy to see that! My partner and I both ran Chicago and New York as well this year (still needing to get a BQ qualifying time though). Good luck in Valencia!
I was there! My 3rd straight year running it (been running for a little over 3 years) It is my favorite weekend of the year. Cheers Ben, great run!
Wow!! With your smile and commentary on, I am amazed at how you make running look so effortless!
🤗Congratulations and God Bless🤗 Best wishes for Valencia👍
I can do a Half in about 2:20, so your Full time is amazingto me. You're a great inspiration for me to train faster.
So so impressive! Thank you for the inspiration. Go get Valencia! 👊🏽
Wonderful. Brought back so many happy memories of running NYC marathon in 1998 in a much slower 4:20. Aren't those crowds just amazing? But the uphill finish in Central Park was so tough! Well done, Ben. You must be pumped for Valencia.
The crowds are so amazing in NYC! Thank you James
LFG! Always smashing it wherever you are 😎💨🤙
NYC was best run in my life at 4:18 in 2019 at 53 years old. Well done to you Ben with an incredible time and you still managed all that commentary too.
Congrats ben! Such an inspiration ❤
Did it in 2:57 back in 2014 - that bridge was tough. And Manhattan rolling hills were tough on the way back from Bronx. Lots of emotions and one of the greatest crowd support!
Great video! Amazing time!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience in the race!
Ben, well done and sure you did not excessively prepare for this race. More support that it is in your subconscious with these ultraraces. Brain gut connection is something not to ignore. Nothing wrong with you, but at least you got a way forward. Happy, UTMB next year!
Awesome Ben that made me really emotional, you deserve this success for all the hard work you put in. Many congratulations. 🎉
Can't imagine someone completed a harsh NYC marathon with video recording on and off and without music full course, salute!!!
Many of us run our marathons without music - it is much nicer to run without music so we can tune in to our surroundings - birds and squirrel chirps on a trail, cheers of the crowd in a big-city marathon. You miss part of the experience if you run with music and it's a crutch to help people avoid facing the pain.
I don’t know what the actual hardest road marathon in the world might be, but I think that the Blue Ridge marathon in Virginia might be up there. There’s over 1,110 metres in climbing over the course of the route, along with an equivalent amount of descent. That would be over four times as much elevation gain and loss as New York if my math is right.
That sounds very hard!! Kudos to anyone who's completed that one!
Wooooooow! You’re unstoppable brotha!!! Congrats!!! Beside the time… what a footage! Top notch!!!! 🗽🔝🔝🔝🔝🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
congrats, this was my very first marathon ever, I came in about 2 hours after you. and like you said: "what a course."
Well done! Congratulations on finishing your first marathon 🙌
Amazing energy in your video. That first avenue roar always gives me chills, I always tear up there. Did this race two times 2009 and 2015. Now i proudly host cheer zone at mile 23 for last 7 years. the biggest block party ever !!💪
I’m sure you’ll have helped many thousands of runners keep running up that hill.. it’s tough!! Kudos to you! Amazing work and thank you 🙌
@@BenParkescome back next year again, you will get bigger cheers.
Amazing run, and really inspiring. Congratulations!
Am really looking fwd to seeing you smash Valencia. Good luck!!!
