DANGEROUS ALPINE MOUNTAIN TOUR | Untersberg, Salzburg (Austria)

- Come and join us on our hike up a great mountain in the Austrian Alps: the UNTERSBERG (1,853 HM | 6,079 FT). It is located in Salzburg, Austria. Even though it is very close to the city, it is actually quite a strenuous mountain tour - and the path is dangerous! One wrong step... Definitely nothing for the faint-hearted.
Tour details:
Untersberg (Up/Down 1,300 HM (4,265 FT), Distance 12 KM, Time +/- 5 Hours)
- Uphill Route: Dopplersteig (dangerous, very exposed!)
- Downhill Route: Reitsteig (easier and safer, but you still have to be careful!)

The freedom of the bird 🦅 is priceless!
Visited the Untersberg in June. The views are truly amazing. Great to see the Alpine Choughs at the summit, beautiful black crows with yellow beak. Careful on the paths, they are well trodden and can be slippery where the rock has become polished. Unforgettable place.

Not sure on the path I took. But on the Reitsteig there is an uphill race once a year. It’s called Untersberg Lauf :)
So for a physically fit man in the Air Force but not a hiker of mountains, would this be a good first hike of a mountain?
Yes, I think you could manage. It's rewarding with great views on top and close to the city. Just take your time and enjoy the hike! :)
Okay, I've totally gotta head there with my mom this june! Do you remember where the parking lot for the hike is? Plus I'd appreciate your opinion on whether or not we should take some harnesss with us. (To make sure we don't fall...) Or would it be too heavy to carry?
Oh nevermind, I found an answer to the first question😅Just google Rosittenstraße and you'll find the right parking lot
You can bring a via ferrata set if you want. But I would find it more distracting. You can always hold the cables with your hand. Since there is no real climbing. But the decision is really up to you. (Please only take this route if you are an experienced hiker.)

Really depends. About 4 hours for the average hiker.
