Hahahhaha!! The end was hilarious! Thank you for teaching me about Brussels sprouts. I just purchased some and I'm learning how to clean and cook them. This was very helpful and fun. 👍 😊
This was a great video. Living in Tokyo is difficult because I have such a tiny kitchen. But I'm glad I can make and eat some great veggie dishes like this, without having to take up all my precious counter space...
I just made your pasta/tuna/sweet pea recipe and it was AMAZING! Love your recipes. Thank you so much for making healthy eating fun, pratical and most important...deeelicious! :) xxx
Today, for the first time they turned out having tremendous flavor. I let them cook on low in a cast iron skillet with a little butte, pink Himalayan salt and pepper r until they were tender. The lid stayed on the pan and I tossed them periodically. They were caramelized at the end and tasted so good. Next time I will not cook them as long so that they retain their bright green color and stay a little crunchy. I never liked them too much until today.
I like to halve the brussel sprouts and simmer in diluted chicken base paste (comes in a jar), a little butter and fresh garlic. Sometimes I add potatoes and chicken to it and make a one pot meal. The chicken base liquid soaks into the sprouts, potatoes and chicken to give a rich yummy depth of flavor.
I haven't been successful with brussel sprouts I always get this bitter like metallic flavor on them do you might know what i do wrong? I flash cook em and fry them with bacon but they always come out wrong and i know that ppl dont like my brussle sprouts so i have to be doing something wrong cuz im not a picky eater and i love food and there is little that i do not like when cooked right. But so ill try this way
i remember eating these as a kid, pealing it lil by lil till I go to the middle. I never cooked them as an adult but recently I bought a bag of frozen cause I wanted my kids to try new things. my kids are normally not picky but they said "uh, its eatable"... I only boiled them & had then put a lil bit of butter & salt to it. never thought of trying it with olive oil & garlic... it might convince them that it is better then just being eatable & actually want a 2nd helping... I can usually tell if my kids like something if they go back for 2nds LOL
had my first brussel sprouts tonight! steamed them til i could smell them and then very quickly sauteed them in a hot pan w/ oil, salt, pepper, lemon and garlic as advised. then, back to steamer tray to drip dry. came out soft and nicely flavored! THANKS!
LOL I have been buying Walmart Generic frozen. (Try not to shoot me. LOL) Today I tried fresh ones, and BAM they are a whole other level! I got on here to make sure of how to store fresh ones because these were not friged. Thank you!
Dear Dani..here in the Netherlands I like to roast them with lemom and olive oil. Meanwhile I make sauce, from Maizena ( cornflower I think that is) and add sweet peaches to the sauce,,,serve the Brusselssprouts togehter with the sauce and peaches...yummieeee
i love to thinly slice them and cook them in a skillet with a little water and oil. i make a dressing with apple cider vinegar and bacon in it and pour over after cooked.
I love brussels sprouts but the smell lingers in my fridge if I have any leftovers. The whole house stinks and my plastic container smells bad even after I wash it several times. Any tips on how to mask the smell of leftovers or how to clean your plastic container?
Another good recipe is roasting them and then tossing them with some olive oil, a little bit of balsamic vinegar and a touch of honey. Add salt and pepper to taste.
My recipe for Brussel Sprouts isn't exactly healthy, but absolutely delicious. I fry up some bacon/pancetta with scallions, remove them from the pan, fry up the Sprouts in the bacon fat, then saute them together, add Balsamic Glaze and flavorings to your desire. Perfect with a steak, again, not exactly healthy, but seriously yummy.
Awesome advice and recipe Dani. I love the flavor of sprouts and I can eat them just on there own, steamed with a little apple cidar vinegar , cayenne pepper and a little smoked paprika. Thank you
thank you for sharing this! i enjoyed this one but i hope i can find brussel sprout in our area.. i love cooking and experimenting flavors on the ingredients as long as keeping it in a healthy way.
I always binge for comfort when im down, especially those high calorie or processed foods or those, well, unhealthy stuff you know..... and then i would start putting on weight again -_- This is a good idea though, but are there alternatives for brussels sprouts? My area doesn't sell them :/ /newsubscriberherehoho!/
Loved your video, I will now buy them because of this video. Awesome!! I especially like that you plugged in the fail takes at the end. “ They’re available all year wrong “ lol Thanks Danispies
+Trkn56 -- Microwaving vegetables is an excellent way to cook them without losing nutrients into cooking water or steam. I find the best way with green beans, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, spinach, is to use a shallow microwavable dish, rinse and and spread in one layer, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and microwave for 2-3 minutes. If veg is not tender enough, continue in 1-minute increments until you figure out how your microwave cooks veg. Remember that vegetables will continue cooking after you remove from the microwave, so cook them as close to serving time as possible.

Hard pass on raw garlic.
You could also sauté that garlic to your liking and then add it to the sprouts.

DOUGLAS F Awesome! So glad to hear it!! Enjoy them.
+Dani Spies can you eat them raw
I get mine frozen from Schwans. One way to prepare them is microwave for 3 minutes. Will this diminish their nutrient content?
