I've been waiting this for so long! Perhaps not the greatest Kalmah song ever, but a really killer one still! The main melody of the chorus is guaranteed Kalmah quality!
Wasn't impressed at first, but the more I listen to this song the more I love it.
The instruments and the music is very good but the lyrics are a bit cringy. "hip hip hooray" for example.

Kalmah never fails to surprise, either with an insanely eargasmic songs like Heroes To us/ The blind leader/ The Black waltz etc, or with pure trash like this one. Very poorly written.

It's an average song by their current standard, sort of weird to release as a single. Windlake Tale and Seventh Swamphony were standouts on the last album. I'm sure the album will be fine but its just a strange choice.
It's not terrible, just not particularly good either. You listen to it, and it's just like, "Yep, this is a melodeath song."

I love Kalmah but I agree with the people who think this song is mediocre..it totally is. I don’t get all the positive comments..I mean how did you come to love these guys? Not by songs like this..not with lyrics like Hip Hip Hooray Lol it’s not terrible but it’s something you’d see as a bonus track..not a single to introduce ppl to the new album.

In finnish "palo" (the new album tittle) means Fire, I say this because in spanish Palo means "stick" which is funny
Im a spanish speaker and Im curious because the album art depics...well, a Stick or Tree on the earth rather than what palo means in Finnish.
Actually, "Palo" means more like the phenomenon when something has burnt (not the element fire itself). In the cover art, there is a landscape that has burnt and there is still smoke in the air. And the tree is actually still a bit on fire from the bottom. So the album name fits the cover art perfectly. Although, I'm not sure what those gray "waves" are trying to present - water or just barren, burnt soil?
About the song itself, I've now listened it like 20 times and I really like it, great and catchy guitar work as always. Though I'm expecting the rest of the album to be even more kick ass and higher level stuff. I guess Kalmah's lyrics have never been that special and actually I think that "Hip, hip, hooray!" again just proves the fact that they don't really give a fuck what people think about their lyrics or even music. Of course they could have write the part in another way - and they would have done it if they just wanted to. I think it fits the song and the Kalmah's known style & humor to mock the shittyness and madness of mankind. They don't make their music to please any specific target audience, they do what they want. And that's great - the way how it's done in northern Finland (cf Sentenced, EToS...). I am really looking forward to hear the rest of the album.

The lyrics are confusing me. Is this about some sort of Illuminati plot? Is it about Jesus being evil, like Jesus is an alien/saboteur? Love old Kalmah anyway and decided id give some of the new material a listen.

I had the same thought. While this is far from my favorite Kalmah song, at least they are FINALLY trying something a little different. I love Kalmah, but they've been releasing practically the same album over and over since the 90s.

I cannot believe this is Kalmah....
Compared to their older albums the last few albums have never been on par. A few good songs here and there, but like CoB and other bands Kalmah have changed a lot, and some like it, some dont. I still enjoy it, but i hate the way they have lost their 'kalmah' touch with the melodic intros and overall melo death feel. this song feels very weak in comparison to the likes of Swamphell as a comparison. I hope the next songs hold out better, we shall see.
