Well we do kind of need a new Drift toy since this one isn't being made anymore, right? Hasbro could just take this mould, update some bits like its articulation, and re-release it like they did Titans Return Blurr. Edit: I need this for my MTMTE shelf.
@@Jcc2224 I'd take that. I recently finally read MTMTE and Lost Light and decided to try and get the characters from it on a shelf. I managed to snag Takara Generations Skids from Ebay and I love it so much. I feel like Hasbro could re-release that one as well, though it definitely needs some touch ups in terms of articulation.
I'd rather get a new legacy figure with some added articulation and detail. I think it's unlikely Hasbro still has a mold from 20 years ago, but who knows, maybe? Lego destroys their molds, but Hasbro might have different policy, we have been getting rereleased G1 figures, but I was under the impression those were brand new molds based on the originals.
@@keilafleischbein59 Well if they did the same with Titans Return Blurr I can't see why they couldn't do the same here with Drift. Even if its new they could just do like you said and copy the original mould, but improve upon it where necessary. Like, not having his sword be some rubbery piece of shit that'll probably be bent out of shape even brand new out of the box.
I remember seeing this toy at Target and his design immediately got me into buying not only him, but all of the idw comics he was in as well. He was my fave autobot for a good while, and im surprised this version is the only one out there after all this time (at least from Hasbro)
I mean, if we don't need a new one at least a reissue of this one would be nice, in my country it's pretty much non existent or goes for stupid high lol
I found him! The toy of my childhood! Idk where this guy is now since I have lost most of my old figures for some reason. I have gotten into transformers again the last year but finally ik what that drift figure I had as a kid was. I will try to track him down for a nice round of crying due to loss of childhood
I have the Deadpool version. It was the first Grail piece I tracked down when I was early into collecting. It will always hold a special place in my heart
I just love Transformers toys? Not everything needs to be super prefect no hollow bits no ball joints super intricate figures for me to like it, I appreciate TFs for their uniqueness and quirks.
Back in 2010, when I was first collecting Transformers, I wanted to own just Optimus Primes and Starscreams. Then I went to Walmart. I saw this Drift and HFTD Terradive. I bought both and Pandora's box was open...
This is great mold! We have Generations Blurr. My son was really into Transformers when Generations toys were on the shelves. He played with Generations Blurr quite a bit. I just bought a bunch of NIB and MOSC Generations Transformers to keep for grandkids. Blurr was one of them...
I found generations Drift, Blurr, and shattered glass Drift all local and complete about a year ago. Still hunting the Deadlock version of the mold. So worth the effort to find.
Got him back when he came out and man is he awesome! Still one of my favorites to this day. We do need a new one so other people can have this guy in their collection, but I won’t buy it. There is no way it would be better than the original. More articulation would be nice, but I really don’t think there’s anything else they can do to improve this figure.
As any collector has noticed, whenever they make a new version of a character, the previous ones usually become worthless. So if they do make a new one (and assuming it’s not garbage), there’s a good chance the prices will drop.
Okay at first I thought he was makeing a joke skit but then I saw the face mold and the legs and it just took my breath away, I need this fig right now, thsi is best transformers fig I’ve ever seen
I ended up getting an oversized KO version. Not an ideal option at the time back then, but it was I could find. Now I'm glad that I got it because even that KO ended up being hard to get.
Yeah, absolutely love this toy. I do wish they would update Drift though. Something that looks so much like this but with some added articulation would be legendary. I’m sure they’d screw up his wonderful weapon storage though. His Deadlock repaint is definitely a holy grail for my collection. I nearly got it and I’ve always regretted not pulling the trigger.
Can't imagine Hasbro making a Drift that will ever beat it. I managed to get the United version for not too much awhile ago. I had the Shattered and Decepticon version too but sold them. Awesome mold.
I honestly don't remember how I got generations drift like he was just always there in my childhood but I never knew who he was so he had many names in my playing days
I have generations Drift. I originally got it for my younger brother but when he stopped collecting Transformers, he game it to me since he knows how much I like collecting them.
Back when Transformers were $13 for Deluxes.... Man, I miss those days, too bad I was a kid without a job. Thankfully my brother got him for Christmas the year he came out, and eventually he gave him to me, still one of my all time favorites... Well, except for the loose door hip skirts, and he can't T-pose.
I agree, i own the takara blurr it has aged very well better than my masterpiece streak, i only wish i could have the big rifle since is the only thing i'm missing
Drift has become evergreen. He's in RID 15, he's in Cyberverse, he might show up in Earthspark. He'll be in just about anything that isn't G1 fanservice. We need a new IDW Drift.
We do end up needing a new drift because there was a mention of it recently through that card game from war for Cybertron that was mentioned it would be awesome to see a new updated version of this come out with either legacy uni or something along the lines of it now other than the movie verse version which had an okay attempt for it this would be so much better I'd love to see a newer take or at least something similar to this
Got him for my Lost Light shelf a year or so ago... and even though I love him, I want a new one. Looking at how Tarn/Bludgeon came out? Drift would be *so* fucking good.
While yes this figure is good... We need a new one. We definitely do. Mostly because of how expensive he is on the aftermarket. Plus... he could have up and down wrists for sword poses!
Thrilling 30s is so much better than half the lines we got these years, I wish hasbro would just re release old molds instead of making new and worse ones.
This Drift has some of the best arm articulation of any Transformers figure, the poses you can do with it and its swords are insane. If we get a new Drift it would most likely be a downgrade compared to this one.
It was one of the greatest generations figures of all time. It was funny when he was introduced into idw, he had more hate on him than I’d ever seen. Everybody said he was a Mary sue, pandering to weebs and just an abomination. Dude is one of the most enduring characters across several iterations now. I think a kickass toy helped a ton
Yo I had that same mold toy. It was my first and only Transformers I had. I guess I was the lucky one who had it but I didn't like that my back of the blue car looked like a spaceship

The worst part of not having Generations Drift is having to spend like 80 bucks to get him with the swords
Yeah, at least the Blurr is far easier to find; even new in box is pretty inexpensive compared to the Drift.
i just bought the KO
