It All Started With This…..Sorta | #transformers 2007/ROTF Voyager Class optimus Prime Review
For how weird this figure looks, that holo-driver gimmick genuinely had me shocked for a moment. I just love that so much.
Sometimes its the little things that mean the most
Fun fact the "holo driver" in the comics is Peter cullen!
I love the holo-driver gimmick. However, after trying it only a few times, the driver’s door will now randomly pop open.
I thought maybe something loosens so the door fails to latch after a while. No that I’m again reminded, I’ll go check that…
@@ronaldpaterni5081honestly that never happened to my optimus prime I had him since I was a kid n I still have him
Ah, this was my first Optimus Prime when I was a kid (maybe around the age of 10). I remember obsessing over the light piping because the eyes are intricately molded
I was the age of -4
Fun fact: this is apparently the only prime who sort off replicates the leg transformation similiar to the cgi model in the movie (key word sort off)
Then why make a comment at all?
@@DespairMisery who spit in your cornfalkes
@@DespairMisery just a interesting fact thats all. Apparently we barely got primes who do that
@@DespairMisery oh i get what you mean. Tho still its the only one to date. And realized this prime has the altmode from the original teaser trailer from 2006
It did do this leg transformation in ROTF when he was in the hangar.
By Primus… it’s been a looooong time since I’ve heard someone talk about this specific figure. I remember I got this on my birthday before I hit the first grade, and I _STILL_ have him to this day, albeit, a couple of parts missing (side leg flaps that make the cabin, the shoulder guards, and the missiles).
But other than that, still in perfect condition.
Mine doesn't even have his head. He also missing one of the flaps, the missiles (both the launchers and projectiles) and he has no shoulder guards. My brother Anthony uses it for a zombie.
This was my first Optimus Prime, I'll always have a special place in my heart for him
Same
This one for the first movie without the flames was my first Optimus toy at 7 years old. I remember being disappointed getting Leader Megatron instead of Optimus for Christmas and got this instead. But I was just happy getting an Optimus.
So it's first strike Optimus Prime
I have this mold from the 2007 movie, and for the longest time that I can remember, it's always been missing everything that can easily come off
The knee pads
So... It's missing basically everything, like mine? lol
@@Patolagos let me list what it does have still: front grill(missing the autobot insignia), left shoulder pad, left arm guard(but is broken and has a piece of paper keeping the friction nubs in place), and the right leg mudflaps
I had that bulky Optimus Prime with the smokestack cannons as a kid, but it had the G1 colors instead of flames.
My first Optimus Prime! Except mine was the First Strike variant which looked more like G1 Optimus in color scheme.
Oh damn, I still have this one since the day I got it when I was 10 yo. My first and oldest Optimus, not the best, but still love this big ol' robot jesus
To this day I find the legs to be the most clever optimus legs we ever got. ANd you can fiddle with the backpack and guns to have a VERY cool shoulder canon mode, look up the Promo shot of the rotf defender optimus repaint for reference
As a kid this figure always intrigued me on how it looked
Even though these figures are outdated for today’s standards and technology, those two gimmicks in vehicle mode are so charming and just makes me smile, accuracy isn’t always everything, sometimes it’s a little bit of heart also

Me after hearing that the premium finish Magnus has no donut feature:
As far as Bayverse Voyagers go, the 2007 Optimus mold is exactly why I was glad to skip out until 2010's Hunt for the Decepticons post-RotF filler line brought the fantabulousness that is the Battle Blade mold, which I didn't get right then when it was on store shelves (it was like 2014 or 2015 when I got the DotM Battle Hook repaint in a trade).
Got the Defender repaint during a time when ROTF figures showed back up all over the place in retails stores in my area in the middle of like 2012 or something it was INSANE
Enjoyed him quite a bit and planned on using it as a stand in Magnus when I got another Prime to go with him
I have the original one from the 2007 line.
It still is my main optimus in my display mostly because of the size, he just has a level of presence the SS one doesn't have.
that's also one of my favorite things about it besides the nostalgia, it scales a lot better with my ss dotm megatron to me
The old movie toys have this charm that you just can't explain in a comment
This was my first voyager Optimus Prime. I remember being dissapointed on how simple the transformation was (especially compared to the masterpiece like leader class version)
I got my own copy of this Prime (Mine's is the 2007 movie version) and it was my first figure I was only a child, lost many parts btw but still very good figure
The Chinese characters are 大将(big general) and 上海将军(Shanghai General).
Glad that someone acknowledged the fact that Optimus's legs flip around from the back during transformation. I have been trying to figure out how to implement a film-accurate transformation to a toy for years.
7:02 he think he ultra magnus
I remember having this toy when I was 6!
Lucky.
Same
Holy shit, me too!!! Unfortunately my parents threw mine out, along with a majority of my old Transformers toys
This was the toy that got me to start buying Transformers figures for the movies when the second movie came out. The smoke stacks I would take off to use as swords and the front grill of the truck as a shield (sliding it over the back of the arm plate)
exactly what I used to do with the grill
Hell yeah, old voyager Prime is one of my aged faves.
I had a first strike color one before I lost it
I remember owning the first optimimus from transformers 1 as a kid so many memories getting all the characters
Butterfly joint could be useful for matrix wielding poses
The Only Optimus prime I have is the POTP version. Not including the movies. I do have a few movie primes but anyway are we going to see reviews of CW First aid, Breakaway and core BB movie Shockwave?? I have that BB movie Shokwave
I really remember this as the first transformer toy I got (I think it was a ROTF box set cuz it also had an RC and a Starscream) but I had no idea what style transformers were going with back then cuz the SECOND set of transformers I got that year was an Energon/Cybertron combiner set of Prowl and a red firetruck I don't remember the name of, and the styles were so completely different but I didn't care at all
One of the only movie Prime molds I have never owned. Even back in the day I was turned off by the huge chunk of truck on the back (and I'd spent a lot on the leader figure). I kind of regret it now cause it does some cool stuff, but we've gotten better voyager primes so I'm not too sad.
This was a nostalgia trip. I had this figure, in this deco no less, when I was a kid, and I had a tone of fun with it, though it did eventually got replaced by the DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime as my go to Optimus toy when playing with them
Holly shit I have this one! He was one of the first transformers my parents bought me. He was fun because he was very articulateble. Compared to some of the other ones I’ve got it’s not very good but okay. He’s also in terrible condition and missing parts.
Holy, I had that optimus when I was like 7😭😂 the way I still remember how to transform him
This deco is the very first Prime I ever got. I liked the colors and the alt mode. And of course the tiny Peter Cullen.
Still have the original from when the first movie came out. One of the only toys I decidedly painted the grey bits over with silver paint including the weapons as the grey looked too dull on the original. Can't say the paint treatment has aged well though. Not the biggest fan of the auto transformation, however loved the idea of a flip up hologram driver, and how well it was integrated into the alt mode.
Nostalgic, i still remember that toys when i was kid, but i destroy it when play while i was kid 🗿
Seeing Breakaway in the background makes me wish we get a Studio Series redesign in the future. Where he can finally have articulation!
Janky as this mould is, it still manages to beat the original 07 Leader Prime in the accuracy department.
I had a battle damage version of this figure with a lot of black scorching for the deco, but the most unfortunate thing is that it was missing it's arms. And eventually someone got rid of it behind my back because it was broken. Sad.
Hey, i got this one when i was a kid. Many years passed, and now i'm looking if they sell some of the pieces of this figure to get mine complete again.
I HAD THIS BOY!!!
I'm 100% sure I also had the other ROTF optimus the one that had like one big double sided pamphlet to transform, I think it was the leader class, unless there's one that's really similar to it, but I vividly remember it being the most detailed figure, or even toy/replica I've owned to this day
With some (a lot, really) upgrades, this mold could be actually pretty cool, this colorskim in particular looks amazing
I don’t know why but I like this optimus. prime more then the battle blade optimus
I think had this when I was very little, but I think my parents threw it away because I broke it.
I had this toy as a kid. Like an idiot I threw it away when I got a cooler optimus prime. Why do kids do this?
This was my first or second Optimus prime. It’s crazy how much I forgot what he looked like
I like the fact that most of primes older bayverse toys have the front of the cab on his back
seeing this on my recommended hit me like a godamn bullet train, i remember having this guy as little kid. Ah the memories
This is made when I was 2!
That back pack drove me fucking nuts.
This optimus robot mode looks like it should be his cybertron robot mode rather than his earth one
I think these older toys are a lot more fun than modern figures, even despite any issues they have
Found one of these junkers in a toy thrift shop, then ordered another junker to combine the missing parts together then sold off that extra junker to someone that apparently needed it. Still don't have the smokestack guns.
This is MY Optimus
only problem i ever had with him was standing him, for obvious reasons
wait, all this time.... IVE BEEN MISTRANSFORMING HIS FEET?
@@cybergames3436 it took me years to realize that you could fold out heels on him and I was always wondering why the bottom of his feet weren't flat
This prime is my favorite toy to exclusively store in vehicle mode. His gimmicks are so fun to just mess with.
I have the first strike variant of this prime and even with all its odd choices I still go to fidget with it
I gotta level with you I'm not an adult collector but I am just a collector
That driver gimmick is actually really cool. That alone takes the truck from average to awesome.
I bought this guy back last year at my local thrift store sealed since it first came out with some box damage for only $30, I opened him up and messed with him and can safely say he's one of my favorite figures to have in my collection.
Damn it I had no idea this existed, I'd have enjoyed it a lot back in the day
I owned this figure back when I was like 5 I hated it
One feature I always found really cool was the light-piped headlamps
The way he holds the gun is weird but actually kinda smart. I hope third party companies use this technique for figures that can't hold there weapons well
The 07 version was my first and even though his back always irritated the crap outta me, there’s alot of nostalgia I get whenever I see it on my shelf. Glad I kept him.
I really wanna get a version of this mould.
This figure holds special meaning to me. My grandpa got me this along with Ratchet from the same line. This was my only Prime for years
This was my first optimus prime as a kid, definitely gonna get one for nostalgia
This was my first Optimus prime ever.
Ah yes, my first Transformers figure. And just like for the kids in the 80’s, it was Optimus Prime. Only difference is it was 2007 Prime, not the original.
I unironically like this figure
Holy shit, this toy is almost as old as me
I was able to get the OG version of this figure sealed for pretty cheap(got it bundled with a sealed 2007 Starscream for like 50). My dumbass opened it lmao but it is hella fun to mess with, and at least the upper body is accurate to the 2007 movie tie in comic, which probably explains the really cool Holo-Driver gimmick! Great video!
The one intro is not wrong I am 13
Funny I was thinking about the robo vision Prime. He was the first prime I ever owned specifically the target exclusive.
Thanks for this video! I think he was my 2nd large movie figure, after Bumblebee. He’s cool! You can actually use the flip over guns in robot mode (might have to flip the mounts and reattach). It leans the fuel tanks on his shoulders, which looks more accurate, and kind of balances his weight. The truck front on his back can sort of unsnap and disconnect, but I wouldn’t recommend…
It's so weird to think that this is the Movie franchise's equivalent to the OG G1 Optimus Prime Battle Convoy toy
yo i still have this! i used to pretend the big back kibble was a jet pack lol
YESSSSSSSSS EXACTLY
This is probably the only Optimus Prime toy, besides MPM 4, Leader Class and HfTD, that tries to mimick the tail light he has for the truck mode.
My first figure(s) were a 2007 double bumblebee pack, barricade, and ice form megatron, all which are sadly cracked and loose.
Just picked this guy up at a local shop today. May not be the best Optimus ever but I still enjoy it for it's weirdness. Plus hologram cowboy guy in cab that no Optimus did after this mold is just a cool detail.
I’m 43 so I don’t think so
This was my first and to this day only Optimus Prime figure! (Until my DOTM one arrives lol) Had him since the first movie came out.
I recently picked up a sealed version of this figure but it's an all clear plastic nemesis deco, I took him out of the box and transformed him once, he's staying in robot mode cuz I'm terrified of Jim dying, waiting on this version of him to show up cuz I love the figure but the clear one is acary
My first Optimus prime is lost to time, imagine a leader class rotf but the windshield opens up to reveal the cyber stompin' button.
I just picked one of these up on BBTS. $48. The odd appearance is what intrigued me. Perfect collectors item... And it's an Optimus Prime.
Dude, seeing this thing again was such a blast to the past. I remember owning this bad boy wayyy back, and I regret handling it like a bear. How'd I find this video? well tbh, I had a hard time remembering which version of the old-timus toys was mine, since theres leaders and voyagers from both the 2007 movie and 2009 (rotf). And I vaguely remember that the one I had a flap at the bottom of his foot, that folds out to become the back part of his feet. And the two gimmicks mentioned. Finally scratchef that itch offa my brain since remembering something from aeons ago turns out to be difficult after all lmfao 💀💀
I remember only the 2007 holo-driver was good, the 2011 DOTM Optimus Prime Voyager was a bit bad, and the Deluxe was the next worst.
This mold gives me repressed memories
I owned an orange version of this toy, and I couldn’t stand it, kept slamming it against the wall because the absurdly loose and useless transformation joints.
This was my first Optimus figure as a kid (or at least the standard version was). My mom ended up giving it and an old Bayverse Bumblebee to one of her friend's kids before they went back to Japan. Now that I'm getting back into collecting Transformers, I regret letting her 😂
God I really want this spesific optimus prime figure. With all those backpack kible. That backpack so big carrying my childhood memories. And the color man really capture my teenage edgy era. Would pick this up from any other prime figures.
This was my first non passed down g1 Optimus
Still my favorite toy to this day except it’s broken to bits and most are missing I really wanna have this again prime is my favorite and I have no toys so sad
I have the Target Exclusive version of this mold. It’s pretty nice but Battle Blades is still better.
anybody has this toys both legs...PLS I NEED THEM FOR MINE IF YOU HAVE SEND ME A MESSAGE FROM THERE
I got this guy a few months ago, he's a fun toy and succeeded my expectations, but for some reason I'm not 100% satisfied by it. Perhaps because it's the only proper Optimus in good condition that I have. Also, the one I have doesn't have the Chinese characters tattooed on him, if I remember correctly it was a Japanese exclusive thing (and I bought mine from Japan)
OMG!!!! Im from peru, but living in canada now and seen the box brings me memories!!!, also I love your transformer videos!
For me, this was the best movie prime mold, until the RTOF leader mold, and even then was still fairly decent until the Hunt for the Decepticons one. Like 20ish years out, yeah he's not a good figure any more; but back then the mix of simplicity with with style, worked and looked SO much better then his Leader counterpart for the first movie being more screen accurate design wise, becuase they were still trying to figure out how to make the Bay designs work as actual toys.
I had this cause at the time, somehow, I didn't know leader class was a thing and better than this PoS.
I love the Alt mode for how chunky it is, but I don't like how that chunk transfers into the robot mode. Especially when you know Bayverse Prime was pretty Lean and this guy has the thiccest calves. I dunno why but I remember being able to remove the backpack. Anyway, I hate this thing.
The grey version of this was my first transformer, and by god do I wish it wasn't. I was 4 and it was 2009, and neither me nor my parents could make heads or tails of this thing. Joke's on us 13 years later I've got a full collection of these things.
My brother found this thing collecting dust after we moved. Couldn't remember which of the 70 bajillion movie prime toys it was.
I had this guy as a kid. Ignoring nostalgia the figure has aged poorly in my eyes. It just felt worse and worse to hold overtime and also the robot mode while not terrible doesn’t really hold up. Even comparing something like the classics Optimus-(not that crappy two pack one the other one)-Despite being an older figure still holds up way better.
