5:05 Man, the jump in screen accuracy from ‘07 to RotF is astounding! Just took one more movie and good engineering to give us the masterpiece that was RotF leader class Optimus
The problem is that practically the entire line of 2007 toys was based on concept art. Designers didn't have neither the actual finished look nor the amount of files they have now to better replicate what is displayed on the screen
Still have mines cause I remember being a kid and having an idea of what a perfect movie Optimus figure would look like and one day walked into a store and just saw it in person and was absolutely astounded. I mean I think it speaks to how good it was when the Masterpiece is just a slightly reengineered version of this
@@OtakuUnitedStudio it seems complicated at first but it legit only takes a few minutes to transform compared to some masterpieces that take 10 minutes and only a few steps are scary to do because the instructions don't communicate it well enough, but when you know what to do it is so easy to transform.

I had a lot of fun with my 2007 Optimus Prime, still can’t believe I was playing with leader class Optimus and Megatron when I was 5-6. Also the Night Watch version was my favourite between the two I had.

Most original 2007 movie toys are literally the perfect fusion of a simple yet high quality child's toy and high detail movie design + aesthetics. Love the balance between both worlds. This guy & Leader Class Megatron are literally among them. Some of them are way too ROTF-like complex like Leader Class Brawl, Voyager Class Ironhide & Ultimate Bumblebee. They can be a nightmare & time-consuming for kids to transform.
Weird you bring Leader Brawl. I thought his transformation was super simple. He was the first Transformers I was able to transform without needing the steps.
@@Flandre_Scarlet8 I have the rotf leader, i have it displayed on my shelf but i don't transform it or play with it that much. The 2007 is better if you want a big toy truck to just have fun with and the rotf if better is you want an accurate robot and truck mode. I do agree though, that the rotf is great, and it is probally one of my all time favorite figures.
This brought so much nostalgia that I had to dig my copy out. If you don't fold up the heel tab, it'll reduce its tendency to fall backwards. The nightwatch variant was also fairly common in Australia.

My 2nd original Transformer, and my 1st original Optimus Prime! I remember I spent a third part of my scholarship to get this massive jewel (And I did that again for the ROTF one 2 years later. 😅), and just like with my first Bumblebee, I enjoyed the heck out of it! It was like a dream come true for me to have a Transformer as big as this Prime, sure it was heavy, and blocky in comparison with how he looks in the movie, and the panel in his right forearm likes to come off easily, but it still was Optimus Prime, my FIRST Optimus Prime! A cool badass representation of my favorite character, and I love it as he is! In all of his blocky and imposing presence! 💪
This is a great toy. I've got the premium deco version of this thing and I honestly really love it. Very underrated figure. ROTF Leader Prime gets all the love but considering when this Prime was made it does so many things right and should be appreciated more.

This was my first Transformer back in 07 for Christmas. My sister got me the premium version, and that one was cool, had his blade, and the transformation sound.
At the time I was 2 years old at the time the movie came out but I briefly had a original 07 leader prime and I loved it then I was stupid and gave it to a friend and I regret it to this day
I have the premium version which had a redesigned head, sword instead of a gun, and had the classic transformation sound effect. I think it was released after the movie came out to mainly focus on having the more accurate head.
I remember when the ROTF leader came out and everyone was waiting for its Night Watch repaint and when it didn't happen, the Night Watch 2007 leader became sought after.
I would be super careful with trying to grab a dragonstorm. Not only do the heads end up melted sometimes, but the head hinges also frequently suffer from the same issue with both TR weirdwolf and mindwipe where their rubber parts would seep oil into the plastic part of the hinges and cause them to become extremely brittle and basically shatter.
I remember having this, but it was called "Nightwatch". I think I still have him, but I'm too lazy to check it. Still a good toy from its time, and the first Transformers toy since the movie release. 🔥💯
I have the night watch repaint of this, and I feel like I should mention that the ankles have a spring mechanism in them so all the bits around the ankles don't clashes much when transforming, the foot can slide up and down three or four millimeters to get out of its own way
When I was a kid we were at walmart, not sure what for but we stopped to let people pass and this very nice old lady had noticed me in the back, and asked my parents if I wanted this exact toy since her grandson I believe did not want it or already had it. I still have this optimus prime leader class, albeit I lost the hand accessory and sadly the smoke stacks broke off, I wish they were hard plastic so it would have stayed, sadly the issues with it which may have been mentioned are the ball joints are loose specifically the shoulder pads. But I still love this toy and I have so many memories with this and I love it with all my heart. If u read the whole thing thanks.
I actually had the nightwatch edition of this toy as a kid. Sadly it only lasted a few years before parts broke and eventually went missing (went through 3 younger siblings after me).
I actually have the nightwatch Optimus prime after finding it in a flea market. Honestly brought back a lot of memories cus this Optimus was one I loved as a kid when the movie was out
I remember getting the 2007 premium version and that thing was amazing. It had the voice of Peter Cullen, and instead of the Ion cannon, it had the flip out energon blade. Also, it had a different head sculpt. I couldn't get my hands on the 2009 leader class Optimus Prime, so the 2007 one made up for that loss. Man, I forget that I was 5 whenever that movie came out good lord.
I’m pretty sure the American release of this toy did have lights and sounds, because I remember I had a movie 1 Leader Optimus as a kid and if you pulled down on the grey piece between his windshields his head would look up for some reason, his eyes would blink and he’d say “I, am Optimus Prime!”
What's wrong with dragonstorm? I have the leader class dragonstorm and I enjoy the figure(s?) Like granted the dragon mode isn't very posable in the hind legs, and stormreign is a bit weak on his own, but together, dragonicus and stormreign look aesthetic af to me, and combining them into a dragon is fun.
Dragonstorm breaks easily. When I got them out of the box, the dragon heads broke and snapped off because their hinges were on rubber plastic. They had a design flaw and charged them for $60! High prices don’t always mean high quality.
one of the coolest things about this guy, to me at least, is that his ankle joints are connected by springs, so you can hyper extend his feet by stretching the foot forwards
I don't remember this Leader Class Optimus having this functionality, because I owned a few & played with them a lot. I think you're referring to another Leader Class Optimus 😅😅
@@matoro4140 Wait, I finally realized it. I really didn't know there's a spring inside the ankle ball joint. But I seriously won't be doing that since I don't want to risk breaking it 😅😅😅

One of the only figures which survived my childhood rampage of broken deluxes and scouts, This figure is incredible and has been my only Movie prime I ever owned, It really goes to show how the designers wanted these toys to last decades, unlike most modern CHUG, They really thought ahead back in those days.
At first I thought "Liam Neeson" would have been a shit choice for Optimus and would have been another Michael Bay blunder, until I told a friend and he reminded me that he's the guy who played Qui-Gon Jin from Star Wars. I take what I thought back if they couldn't get Peter Cullen Liam Neeson could have made a decent Optimus Prime voice. When it comes to actors I'm usually shit with names but tell me a role they played that I know and I'll know who you're on about in a heartbeat.

I remember loving this guy at the time, but once ROTF Leader Prime came out I never really looked back. And that's kind of a shame as looking back now, he's still not bad. Yeah he's not as complex or as movie accurate as ROTF Prime, but he still has a certain charm to him.
This was the first Optimus Prime toy I ever got on Christmas of 2007 Two days ago I ordered one from Ebay as my Christmas gift for this year since most of my money needs to go towards family stuff
I have the night watch prime it's a little beat up and rusty if you want it (back fender is broken but I can fix that before I ship it if you really want it and it's missing a piece or two and the gun but still) I also have the navy blue Ironhide
It's like the designers went out of their way to get his robot mode parts from the wrong parts of the truck, so they would have to use excessive part separation. I know they didn't have access to finalized official design documents, but it's easy to assume that if his forearms are red, then they should come out of a part of the truck that is red!
I remember going to the website (yall remember that?) that promoted the 07 movie and I went through each figure as a checklist begging my parents to get all the figures. I was so happy when I got this one and it was my most favorite optimus prime toy. What the figure lacks in accuracy definitely made up in playability. Every part of this figure was satisfying to transform when you finally got it down. Figures back then were also incredibly sturdy this thing took a BEATING when I was a kid. Id totally buy one just for the nostalgia factor.
This is a great simple enough to transform, for the most part child friendly toy to mess with. Always loved how much effort/detail went into the alt mode, and that to date I think this was the last Leader to feature rubber wheels let alone Transformer. Don't quote me on that. Other than the clunky robot mode my only real issue with this guy is the soft plastic/rubbery bits on the ends of the smokestacks. Already have had one snap clean off. Also epic find with the Animated Blackout. One of the few cancelled Animated figs I wished had been released even if it is pretty bad.
This toy was VERY well played with and I still own it. It's remained in shockingly good condition though, far better than my RiD Prime which while admittedly older, lost all of It's tires relatively early on and has some pretty major yellowing. Conversely my copy of this toy (premium edition to be fair) the tires are still completely intact, the electronics still haven't worn out, and I think the only thing that's ever broken was a tiny clip that doesn't actually affect anything. So nostalgic for this chonktastic thing
Is that leader movie accurate? Not at all. Is it way too big to be displayed "in scale" in any movieverse display? Obviously. Is this one of the best Transformers that I ever handled, who feels good in hand , is fun to transform, and is super RAD looking in both modes? *HELL YEAH!* I have it twice BTW. The shiny Premium and the dark-green Nemes-ish Prime.
This leader class is actually great. Despite the kibble and the fact it's from 2007, it surprised me. Especially the posability. (Too bad I never own one)
When I got mine wayyyyy back when, it came with a manufacturer defect. I have two left shoulder pads on mine and never really cared enough to get another 😂
Oh man I think was one of my first ever transformers toys, along with movie bumblebee and alternators hound. still impressed my the sheer mass of this thing, mine however never came with the arm cannon, mine has the blade attachment instead. Not sure if this was a different version of the figure or something.
honestly this guy is amazing he may not be as good as rotf but my god he has his charm sometimes i find myself just messing with him being amazed by him i love the figure so much i would do anything for it great review on him! sadly mine is missing the gun rip
I miss these Leader Class toys. Now they’re just voyagers. These were feature rich toys. The auto morph, lights, sound, launching missiles. Now we just get parts we put in a bin cuz they’re useless.
I have a night watch prime. My parents got it for me when the film came out. It's very well played with so a couple of missing parts but it's a cool toy
Got this when new, the only Bayverse Optimus I own, and its honestly pretty decent. It feels solid and substantial, looks pretty good alongside his brethren. Im a CHUG collector and have always disliked the movie aesthetic so Ive never felt the need to get the ROTF version.

Man, I remember actually strongly considering buying this at the time, just because I liked the truck and robot I saw in the movie
This was my ferst transfoemers toy
I remember having him, he was easily one of the best figures at the time of the movie. I have considered buying him again so we'll see.
This was the Optimus Prime toy I had growing up. I loved this one so much. It’s a shame I had to get rid of it years ago.
*HELL YEAH!*
I have it twice BTW. The shiny Premium and the dark-green Nemes-ish Prime.
I loved this figure so much
me too
10:54 what about the BB movie Power charge bumblebee since that's technically a leader figure or do you have that already?
4:42 Yeah, that’s pretty swick.
This leader class is actually great. Despite the kibble and the fact it's from 2007, it surprised me. Especially the posability.
(Too bad I never own one)
When I got mine wayyyyy back when, it came with a manufacturer defect. I have two left shoulder pads on mine and never really cared enough to get another 😂
Wdym “rare UK night watch” I live in the US and had one as a kid, and I find them on eBay all the time
one of my first transformers figures ever. wish i still had it
Oh man I think was one of my first ever transformers toys, along with movie bumblebee and alternators hound. still impressed my the sheer mass of this thing, mine however never came with the arm cannon, mine has the blade attachment instead. Not sure if this was a different version of the figure or something.
honestly this guy is amazing he may not be as good as rotf but my god he has his charm sometimes i find myself just messing with him being amazed by him i love the figure so much i would do anything for it great review on him! sadly mine is missing the gun rip
Love your videos but plz for the love of God, learn to audio balance! You talking is fine but the music and toy sounds are way too loud!
Night watch prime was one of my first tf toys and man I love him so much
My dad bought me this for my 4th birthday and it's one of my treasured items
I had one of these as a birthday gift from my dad when I was a kid, and my aunt accidentally stepped on it and broke it.
You:buyee me:oh great monster island buddys
Please help I’ve had this toy for so long and I can’t put it back in truck mode
10:57 Ouch..
This toy is the Bayverse equivalent of a g1 toy if you think about it
Seeing Optimus tbone bumblebee was hilarious thank you sir
