@@tadghsmith1457 maybe. But you’ll hit a 500 lb deadlift pretty quick too. Just a matter of priorities
@@K-bob_45 yes, health vs. arbitrary deadlift number when you're not even a competitive lifter.
@@K-bob_45 I did rip’s advice and hit 505x2 on deadlift. I looked pretty solid after cutting 40lbs. I wish I had done more isolation but I was still happy with my physique.
Yeah, and the only way that people will know you're not a fat mess but a STRONG fat mess is if you actually carry around a 500lbs deadlift in your back pocket or wear a lifting belt everywhere you go. 235 at 5'11 - nobody natural is going to look any different that a professional world of warcraft player at that stage ffs.
heavy barbell training is DEFINITELY NOT the only way. people. Barbell is irrelevant.
A natty at 5’11 235 will be known as a “big fat man” not strong
I get his point, but i agree 235 at 511 will just look obese. Im 5'11 now and 170 is a goal, at least i wont be 165 😢
@@theguy9067
For 5’11 i could see anywhere from 170-190 being totally fine depending on your structure, however 235 is ridiculous unless youre blasting steroids
BAAAAAHAHA....Love it. If you take your shirt of to show you friends......don't do that.
Have you heard about the big strong man?
That lives in a caravan.
Have you heard about the Jeffrey Johnson fight?
Oh, Lord what a hell of a fight.
You can take all of the heavyweights you've got.
We've got a lad that can beat the whole lot.
He used to ring bells in the belfry,
Now he's gonna fight Jack Demspey.
💯
5'11" 165lbs is skinny... I'm 6'2" 150lbs. smh
500lbs are a f* big deal for me. It will take years.
Kenya 🇰🇪 🇰🇪 🇰🇪 loves you ripptoe
Are you guys examples of what you consider "big strong men", and the training it takes to become that? Because I don't want the big fat belly and double chin.
Then you will remain little man
@@ec4146 so no example?
@@ec4146 And get all the chicks.
@@ec4146 Educate ME!, FUCKTARD!
@@oldnatty61he is a Manlet lol😂
I'd rather be a fit strong man than a big strong man. It's called strength AND conditioning ffs.
To be a big strong man you have to be born with big strong man genetics. It doesn't matter what you do or don't do. Moreover, the vast majority of big men don't squat or deadlift, let alone take their squats and deadlifts anywhere near failure on a regular basis.
I love the irony of Rip critiquing guys for being nacissistic. Lol.
Mike Tyson at his prime for 5ft11 ish 215 lbs 😂😂😂
So he didn’t look strong according to you guys
Who cares about looks when you shit on your pants if he stares at you
Have you guys thought that a 170 lbs pro MMA can kick your ass?
Just saying because the black dudes smirk is so egocentric😂
When the guy who specifically trains to beat people up for entertaining people can beat up the guy who trains to lift heavy objects to be a useful person wow what a shocker
Mitchell Hooper just squatted 525 x 24. Somebody needs to tell him that high reps and volume are making him weak.
Mitch Hooper, an elite, enhanced, professional athlete isn’t the same person that would benefit from squatting fives on a weekly basis. Starting strength is for novice, or beginner, strength training, hence the name ‘starting’ strength.
As a beginner runner you wouldn’t copy kipchoge’s training, so why do people think copying strength athletes should be any different.
🤣
I wonder what rep scheme Mitchell used to get that strong.
Nobody wants to see a giant boiler either.
mark rippetoe show your abs now!!!
we want to se your abs
You arent worthy to see the great rip's abs lol
He has one ripped ab
don't do that...don't do that very often..hahaha
I’ve seen big strong men get their ass whooped by a little guy
Then why do so many powerlifters look like they don't even lift?
Because he's wrong.
Like who?
Name one
All the powerlifters i know are jacked like a mf haha
Are they trying to stay in a weight class?
Mark is a little too dogmatic.
None of you guy's even look like you train yourselves!
You tell 'em, Rip!!
This is so cringe🤣🤣
Don't hurt yourself ego lifting if you're older.
First
Grattis💪
Congratulations
Should pregnant men deadlift? Should a man squat when he is on his period? Do people who identify as unicorns have their own unique lifts or can they do standard human lifts? These are the big questions of this age.
Nah, they need to lay down in the middle of a road and wait for a log truck that's not paying attention.
5'11", 265lb. 46 years old. I've been pulling Deadlifts for 28 years. Rip is right.
The amount of times rippetoe is saying “big strong man” is sus
I would rather Look ripped like McGregor or Khabib than look like eddie hall
