- Vlog Ep.51 - Big Algonquin Canoe Trip - Day 5 - Camp And Cookouts! (4K) This video is about the 5th day of our canoe camping trip in Algonquin Park's interior, where we spend a relaxing day on beautiful Lake La Muir, right in the heart of Algonquin Park, enjoying some relaxing vibes, delicious camp cookouts, and an evening by the campfire. We've also been filming select, interesting moments throughout each day of the trip with a 360° 4K VR camera (there’s a link to today’s 360° video below), and today's shots are a peaceful view of the West end of Lake La Muir from the shoreline of our campsite, as well as a few moments from our evening around the campfire! After the trip, we'll also post an unabridged version of all the 360° clips for those who would like to enjoy a longer VR experience in the park :)
__
There are several different ways to enjoy the 360° VR video linked below:
1. Select desktop web browsers like Google's Chrome, or Firefox will allow you to scroll through the 360° VR video by clicking / dragging the image on the screen left, right, up and down, so you can look around in the environment.
2. View the 360° VR video on your smartphone or tablet using RUclips's Mobile app (a free app on iOS or Android devices), which will allow you to pan and tilt your phone around in 3D space, almost as if it's a window in front of you that you can look through to see the VR environment around you - the RUclips Mobile app uses your device's internal gyroscopes to determine where you're looking... which is really cool!
3. View the 360° VR video through Google's Cardboard app (a free app on iOS and Android devices), and a relatively inexpensive head-mounted VR viewer, equipped with lenses designed to help you focus on your smartphone's screen. The app creates a stereoscopic version of the 360° video we filmed, which you can then put into a head-mounted VR viewer, which allows you to look around and almost feel like you're there inside the VR environment. The app uses your phone's own internal gyroscopes to determine where you're looking. Please note, your VR experience with this method depends on your phone's resolution and the quality of the VR headset you purchase. I personally own a "Merge 360°" VR headset which works with a range of different phones, and sells online at B&H Photo for around $79 CDN / $59 US, though you can find inexpensive VR viewers for as little as $15 - $20 by searching online. There are many to choose from - you generally get what you pay for though, and more expensive models will typically be more comfortable to wear for extended periods, or come equipped with more built-in adjustments for precisely aligning with your eye. Before buying any VR viewer, please ensure it will fit your phone. You may also want to enjoy this method while wearing stereo headphones.
4. View the 360° VR video through an Oculus Rift, or HTC Vive, which are much more expensive VR devices with their own software built-in.
Today's shots are a peaceful view of the West end of Lake La Muir from the shoreline of our campsite, as well as a few moments from our evening around the campfire! Before you check it out, please don't forget to like, share or comment on today's vlog and let us know what you think! Thanks! It really helps us to create more content and moments like this :) ...today's 360° VR video link: • BIG ALGONQUIN CANOE TR...

P.S. Thanks for watching! :) xx
Julia's Kitchen. I feel a new hit show is coming. great work especially in Algonquin to be able to put a hearty feast together like that
I have to tell you....your videos are great. I live in North East Florida. Hurricane Irma has been swirling at the edge of Cuba in what seems like days. We are all holding our cumulative breath as a state. Prepping our properties, boarding up windows, getting ready for multi-day power outages and watching the incessant updates and projected paths. This evening I am exhausted and suddenly remembered your videos and how relaxing they are. Thank you from a weary Floridian.....you guys are just what I needed.
Hope you're doing okay - stay safe down there :)
No damage to my house. Just without power for 6 days. Kind of like camping .....without the great views. lol Thank you again for your fantastic videos.
Looking forward to the next episode of Julia's Kitchen :)

Just recently discovered your channel girls. Have enjoyed them immensely; really Well Done. Your canoe & backcountry skills are to be commended also. One thing Julia, It's a Canoe, Bring a Real Knife. :-) Thank You for sharing a piece of your wonderful country with us.
I guess I am kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to watch newly released movies online ?
Another great video Chris. Love the 360! Almost like we're right there with you :) Can't wait for the next episode! Thanks!

Julias kitchen is great. I do not doubt the taste of it, even if Julias bodylanguish and sounds eating anything normally looks like it´s beyond best throughout the episodes :-)
Also: What a beautiful smile and laughter you have Chris!
Thanks so much Sjur! Always impressed with how delicious Julia's cooking is :)

Tried your "Peanut Better S’mores" last weekend on the Connecticut River (Massachusetts section) for a trip I was leading with the Appalachian Mountain Club.
They were a big success! Will be adding them to more of my trips! Thank you!
That's awesome! 👍 Glad to hear, and thanks for sharing Jeffrey :)
Once again another beautiful and well-shot video! Your camping videos from last year inspired me to get a GoPro so we can document our trip and make our own videos. Mind you, mine don't turn out nearly as good as yours haha. But seriously all of your videos are shot and edited amazingly :) Looking forward to more!
That's so cool Brooke! Good luck with your future filming adventures! :)
Hi i'am from Pakistan...i watch your all videos i really enjoy...beautiful place and you are looking great...love from Pakistan
Your videos are just beautiful. I need to rewatch Julia's s'mores video so we can incorporate it into our adventures.
That meal looks so yummy Julia! I need the recipe! 🌼
Thanks for posting this, all your video's are very good , must take a long time to edit . !
Loved this video and you two are #couplegoals
Well darn it now I want a tomato and bacon sandwich! :)
Hello again! Quality video again, thanks again! Oh and also,
Julia's Kitchen > Gordon Ramsey shows
Food looked tasty.
Why did I watch this video on an empty stomach? :-)
I know I've commented before, but if you're not already in some sort of film production, I hope you are at least seriously considering it. I really appreciate watching these because I'm interested in the subject and they're SO WELL DONE!!
Haha, thanks Geoff! Yeah, I own a small video production company and film / edit professionally :)
WOW that's some yummy looking camp food ladies. Consider me seriously jealous. Hahahaha
Brilliant
Why does this channel has only 11k subs? You two are funny and charismatic, your vids highly professional!! Keep on the great work! Earned my sub after 10 secs watching you :)
That branch scene and cutaway though lmfao!!
Greatings from Niagara Falls!! I love all of your video's and can't wait to see Cedar's first trip out! I do have one question though, what por and frying pan are you using? I am trying to find one big enough for both of us,case well as being able to go on the open fire, and light enough to carry around. The one's you are using look exactly like what I am looking for!
It could be my imagination but I have always found that coffee and bacon taste wonderfully better when you are seated near a fire.
Fun shot at 5:40 ;-)
Great video, compliments from a fellow canoe camper! Also, as a fellow hammocker, may I suggest tree straps, to protect the trees?
You guys should do a trip through Killarney.
wonderful video's ..how about adding some fishing to your repertoire ,,love to see Julia's skill evolve into filleting and cooking up some fish ..
Looks like thats on the North side of the lake? Bringing a group up there next week, looks like a great spot.
Bacon & Tomato toast, mmmmmmmmmmmm
Oh my goodness.. I love you girls.. I came cross your videos and love them. Totally makes this Texas girl want to visit Canada. Amazing video and editing and you guys are perfect together. Are Ya'll still doing videos? I have been in 2 videos on a youtube chan called Spirit Forest. We actually met on because of her videos. Again love what your doing and Congrats on the wee one.
Do you have a link to a list of everything you bring on a trip by chance? I'd love a copy or a link to it! Thanks for all you do :)
Chris...you have a wonderful voice. Has anyone ever suggested you try voice work? If not; please let me be the firsr...
I now see that it’s Julia who is the marshmallow roaster general. They’re perfect! What was Julia reading?
Is this a New Restaurant or something cause I want to go, Great video thank you.
Intense! When you folks end up having to find your camp at night, are you following a pre determined compass bearing? It's all really quite lovely. (PS, another vblogger/tripper says the Pad Thai is as good as in any accomplished eatery they've had..)
Thanks Gary! I learned how to do topo navigation with a compass while I was at Basic in the Forces... though I'd say virtually all of our navigation out there is done with visual landmarking, ie, it usually just takes a moment to orient the map with the surrounding shoreline, and then we know where to point the bow. If the other vblogger/tripper is Drenalin Adventures, he may have picked that up from us - Scott's a great guy :)
@@ChrisProuse Check! funny FYI, I worked as a lead field tech for McGill along with OMNR in the early 90's north of Atikokan. The post doc I was accompanying only had one good eye, but he could navigate on those pitch black nights on lakes where we did our invertebrate sampling. Told me to turn off the light, he couldn't see otherwise.... very funny guy..
Haha, that's awesome! :)
Such a great trip. How can you carry all those food supplies & still one trip each portage? Thanks Brian 77
This are killer snores as I am allergic to peanut butter. Lol
Привіт з України!!!Гарні відео-супер!!!
Amazing how you can cook food like that on day 5! how do you keep stuff like bacon/butter fresh that long?
Thanks! We buy the microwavable ready-crisp bacon, which can be stored at room temperature until it's opened :) You can find more info about our meal prep in our "How to canoe camp in Algonquin Park" video here: ruclips.net/video/mTNV761BtgM/видео.html
Thank you so much! I love cooking and want to go on trips like these, and you're a great inspiration!
Curious how you managed to keep bacon fresh day 5
Is Julia a chef?
OKAY! Where's Julia's restaurant? I'm going there! Take my money!
:-)
Nope I just looked at what they are doing and all i can see is penis envy how many women go camping in one tent
Hi Kelly. This is a family friendly channel, with parents and their children participating in the comments... so we'd really appreciate it if you'd keep your comments polite and respectful.
