Phillip Dutton: "My composition is a setting of the poem ‘La Cascade’ by the French poet Robert Desnos, who played a key role in the development of the Surrealist movement. Upon reading the poem, I was equally struck by the beauty of the French language - in particular the flexibility offered by its vowels - and Desnos’s use of mysterious imagery and sensory language."
