A note to add, is that the 20 quart cooler sells at most retailers for $150 and the 50 quart roughly about $300. Many retailers and used item sites offer discounts for them as well, but definitely do your research on who you're purchasing through! 1 of these stays in my garage and goes on trips with me, the other stays in the Jeep 99% of the time and is used practically everyday. So, how do they hold up? Let's find out! If you have anything else to add please comment below to help out other people looking at reviews of what cooler to go with.

    I have never even seen a Pelican cooler until today, I have however been using Pelican rifle cases and travel toolboxes for years. We also used a lot of Pelican cases in the Marines, and if they cant kill their stuff nobody can. That being said, If their coolers are anything like the rest of their products, and according to your video they are, Its the cooler I'm going to go with. It's good to see a review of someone who has actually used a product for an extended period of time that they bought with their own money. Doing my research, I found 20 videos on the Pelican cooler, 19 of them were sponsored videos barely unboxed with no actual use, and the other one was your's. Thanks for the info.

      I didn't even think about showing the unboxing of these but I still have the boxes, just have dog toys in them in the spare room, haha. But thank you for watching and I hope this helped! I'm sorry I haven't been on youtube lately much at all and there are still a ton of comments coming in, but I'm loading some new videos on both channels and getting back to it. Hopefully I can help out with future reviews for you and others. Take care!~

    I've used and loved Pelican cases for many years for photo gear. But, I just recently realized that they sold a cooler. I think I'll get the 20 qt.

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  3 года назад

      They're cases are perfect for so many things, but the 20 qt would be a great place to start since it's versatile and on the cheaper side of their larger coolers, and they hold their resale value in case you aren't completely satisfied! Also, check around because most of their coolers sell at a retail of $149.99, but you can get discount codes from different places, even from Pelican themselves, to save you about $20-$40!

    Thanks for the video. Since you've had it 2 years now is it still holding up well? Does it leak in your car once the ice starts to melt and you drive around? I'm torn between this one and the otterbox. I keep my coolers on the back seat of my truck.

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  Год назад +1

      It’s still holding up well. Doesn’t leak or sweat in the backseat. I do still wish the 20qt had a drain plug like a screw on, but I guess it’s one less thing to worry about leaking. Seals are still holding up and I take it just about everywhere with me and used it at plenty of outside events and still seals up nicely with the built in seal in the lid. They also have been running a lot of specials to get money off of the purchase through them directly unless you find a lightly used one on marketplace or something for a really good price to try one out. I haven’t used any otter box coolers, or knew that they had one, so I may look into those as well to get more info.

    Love the color combo. Yes, Pelican brand is very popular here in Cali. I prefer Pelican over Yeti because it is made in the US and has Lifetime warranty. These coolers are built like tanks, have the 80qt wheeled, now want the 20qt haha. Also, do u use the Pelican Ice Packs? Review?

    • @lockedloaded9048
      @lockedloaded9048 4 года назад

      Thanks for the comment Johnny! And yes, same reasons that I use them and very good customer service when needed and easy to work with! The 80qt is HUGE but serves for good purposes. Also, I don't use Pelican Ice Packs currently, I usually will use a little ice and just inexpensive ice packs in it. I thought about purchasing a couple packs and doing a review, which I may still do, but there's just so many different environments that the cooler could be in to accurately review the packs. I usually keep it 70 degrees in the house, but if it's out in the garage it fluctuates a whole lot more beyond that temperature.

    Hey man! With the humid/hot summer days we have in the south east how does it hold up in a hot car? have you left this in your car and how long has ice stayed after those nasty days?

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  3 года назад

      Hey Greg, sorry for the long awaited reply, as I mentioned to other's I've been slacking on here and I'm just now getting back to it. I've noticed in a hot car, that the ice in the 20 qt will usually last thought that hot day, but the water will still be ice cold later that night and the next day, even with the ice melted. You usually can get a solid 2 days of ice with the 50 qt, and still, same result with the remaining water. I hope this helps and thanks for viewing!

    i have the pelican 70 and the yeti 45 and flip 12. i love both but the pelican coolers are huge on the outside. i bought the yeti because the pelican won't fit in the car lol. and Hello from CLT

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  4 года назад +1

      Very cool! And yes, Yeti does make a very symmetrical setup of coolers, especially the Roadie 20, which can make them more user friendly than other hardcore cooler manufacturers. My uncle has the Pelican 70 but it wouldn't fit in the back of the Jeep, haha. Gander Outdoors marked their Pelican 45's down, the model with wheels attached, when they went out of business and I almost snagged one up. I've owned a couple Hoppers as well, 20 and 30, which I wish I would've had for this review, and loved them both! And hello back to ya local and fellow RUclipsr!

      Good to know thank you! I had just noticed whenever I posted this video years back no one had done a clear review on those of these coolers and it’s hard to tell the size since many of the brands, style them differently. But again, thank you for the valuable information!
