I started watching your build about 1.5 years ago. You were a big inspiration and teacher for me. I wanted to say a big thanks ! I just finished my off-road trailer and it came out better than I thought with help from you.
Ammunition trailers are designed to carry an immense amount of weight for their size. Ammunition is mainly copper and lead, heavy stuff, you could probably remove half the leaves from that leaf spring pack so you don't beat your camper (which is basically a hollow wooden box) to death, it's much lighter than ammo. Also in that first bit I was cringing... when you were man handling that cargo box off the trailer frame I was having visions of it tipping onto that gorgeous ducati
Been wanting to build an overland trailer for a while now. By far, the best build video I've seen so far. Thanks for the great video and the inspiration and ideas.
seeing that screw in the tyre at 12:12 I totally felt a real connection with you as the builder as that's my kinda luck too get a bloody screw in a brand new tyre before even taking outta the workshop lol, awesome build thanks for sharing.
Did my laminating composite sheeting today on my squaredrop , just want to say Darrell a big thankyou for your tips and videos helped me out lots, that bostic 2701 some amazing stuff Take care Adam
Love your work mate. These videos have been invaluable in conceptualising my off road teardrop. I'm 3 weeks in and going back to watch this agsin for some more inspo. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom mate!
Brother Awesome Build! Partial shading on Solar Panel not good! Independent suspension is a must! And why didn't you go with double doors for the Lady? Wait when she goes to the bathroom 3 times a night! LOL! Best Regards!
Looks great. My concern though is about the drill holes in the frame. I like the shocks/struts. But, putting holes in metal that's used for structural support is typically a bad idea as a pre-existing flaw decreases a metal's yield strength, and plastic deformation is more likely to occur. Manufacturer's typically perform an analysis to determine where holes, hole sizes are safe to make. Did you know if this was safe? Or were you making a guess? I don't doubt that maybe you have not had any issues with your build. I'd just be hesitant to do something like that and would be more inclined to attach some sort of bracket to the frame instead.
You haven't looked at the shock absorber install video. In that I explain and show the photo of where the chassis manufacturer added shocks to the same spot in the same fashion. If this was ok for the Australian Army to use, its ok for me. ruclips.net/video/h_UZ-yoRvfU/видео.html
Darryl, what a build! This one has nothing to envy with one of those 30-40k campers that I am constantly dreaming off... I subscribed!. Hoping to start my build shortly. Thank You Sir!
Great video! Thanks! Gives me a lot of inspiration. My study is ready, now time to build my road camper. In Holland these campers a very rear. Last 5 years i saw two of them. Greetings from the Netherlands!! Peter
Great job on the camper and great video. Could you double your solar panels by having one set on top of the other and on a sliding rack that you can pull out to expose the lower panels once you stop to setup camp? Just an idea.
I've bought a 300w solar blanket and put a double Anderson plug input on the camper - so 'could' add another 600w. When travelling the vehicle charges the camper mainly.
Just started watching some of these for an idea of a project I wanted to do and i think yours looks the most interesting to me but got to check out the others it seems for more of an idea this was first one i found but dang wondering about how much it cost to do some of that but definitely looks great
Great build mate. So good to see even the scribble on the side is in metric. None of that, "ninety twelve sixty forth's" horse shit our septic tank brethren of "red white and blue" use on the other side of the pond. Hahahah 😆 Really sweet build. Thank you for sharing your content. Safe travels mate and keep the shiny side up.
hi new subscriber here, quality build .detail excelent.been watching lots of builds yours is the best by far. looking to build my own camper trailer getting to old to swag any more.only problem now i have to watch the entire build.looking forward to it.cheers.
I subbed for the TJ, campers are not really my thing. Watching this I'll be coming back to fully watch the build series.. the finish and attention to detail you've put in looks absolutely top notch!
Woooow!!!! You have a new subscriber and of course my like. How can I have some plans with the measurements and link of materials? Thank you very much for the contribution and greetings!!!
No it doesn't, with the 18mm solid walls of the camper it's more than enough. In fact lots of commercial camper built this way run a roof rack with a Roof Top Tent on with no issues.
Thanks, the drawbar extension was primarily done to fix the less than perfect original axle position on the chassis. Ability to jackknife to 90deg is a really good option if you ever get into a predicament where you have a small area to turn, be that tight switchback road/dead end track/tight camping spot etc .
I seen a home build camper and I spoke to the man, it given me ideas I can build. So can I ask how it goes on corrugated roads with leaf springs. Thank you for great video
Thank you very much sharing your DIY Off Road Camper // Full Build Video👍
The amazing thing is that this mate does the entire build on his own. Very nice workmanship too.
Thank you Tony
I’ve never seen anyone work so fast. Must be the Ozzy sunshine ☀️. Very impressed with your vast array of skills.
Thank you very much!
One of the cleanest builds i have ever seen, if not the cleanest.
Thank you so much for that.
OMG super professional build - highly skilled craftsman
Your channel was EXACLY what I needed!!! I am purchasing a pre-built trailer, but needed to know how to build all the extra things! Thanks!!
BROTHER ! YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB ! TIME FOR FUN !
You got that right!

Glad to have helped Diego

I came to the comments just to make sure I wasn't the only one who noticed lol
Great end result and no doubt you saved some cash, had fun building it, and know every system in the rig , impressive sir….. 👍
This is the greatest overland camper I have ever seen, I want one!
Great to hear you like it
I love it. Mfrs are scrambling to learn what DIY builders are doing and trying to imitate it. Of course, DIY is less expensive.
Thanks Tina
I like the way the extra storage tube is added underneath!
Thanks, it works well.

Awesome job, I wish I had your skills to convert my camper trailer into something like that. Well done.
Thanks! 👍

If that Jerry can mount could rotate down to level it could double for a grill table or something.
You're an ideas man!
Hey guys that camper is BEYOND Wicked cool! Incredible build!
Killer job and a beauty of an 848 I spotted back there!
Nice to see an ex army trailer be useful for something other than "battle PT". Edit: And yes, they were very hard to reverse with that short drawbar.
We are currently undertaking our own 'square drop mini camper build' and have taken inspiration from Darryl's videos!

Awesome video
Thank you

One hell of a job on the camper 💯👍🇺🇸
Given there is no metal frame, is there a concern with weight on the roof? Does the 270 awning brackets need a bit of support?
No it doesn't, with the 18mm solid walls of the camper it's more than enough. In fact lots of commercial camper built this way run a roof rack with a Roof Top Tent on with no issues.
@DarrylSheather thank you. Did you use marine ply?
This is fantastic well done mate 👍
Thanks so much 😀
God level
Not really but thank you 🙏
I love it! This is almost EXACTLY everything that I would like to do in the camper build that I am envisioning!! Fantastic job, mate!!
Awesome! Thank you! Stop thinking and get building lol
Beautiful build. Why do you need the ability to jack knife, tight trails, campsites? Just curious cost vs benefit of the extension.

It's fine on dirt roads, especially with shock absorbers fitted.
Great vid!
