I’ve listened to a few podcasts with Chase Hughes, and I have to say this is one of the best. The host did a great job going deeper into the topics rather than jumping from topic to topic. This is definitely one I’m bookmarking and will listen to several times. I really appreciate the tips and process details on the subjects.
I look at a quote said to Chase every day. "If someone else talked to you the way you talk to yourself, you'd knock their teeth out". I'm kind of hard on myself, and it reminds me to give myself a break.
I grew up in a cult, so I’ve experienced blind obedience to these techniques. Now that I’m free I could listen to Chase for hours and constantly learn something new. I had an ahah moment at the end-talking about creating confusion to engender compliance. I think this is how word salad works.
Chase is a unique individual because he has amazing sensitivity, insight, intelligence, life experience and is extremely humble and kind hearted. This mix in human nature is rare and I enjoy everything I hear from him. I have just bought his book 📚 and plan to make lots of notes Thank you so much ☺️
So well said. Totally agree and I can't wait to read The Ellipsis Manual and 6 min X-ray. I'll be taking notes too because that's the only way I will read it slow enough to absorb the information. 😄
When Chase talked about needs and fears and not being able to completely overcome them it reminded me of steps 6 and 7 of the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (of which I’m a part.) Chase really hit on a universal truth I’ve found in trying to work spiritually in my AA program and in therapy; progress not perfection.
I find it interesting that he googled “how to tell when girls like you” vs “how to trick women into liking you” or “how to pick up women”. I think most guys would seek the latter, and that speaks volumes to me about his intentionality and integrity. In fact our culture seems to promote manipulation skills over genuine communication and persuasion. I’ve been studying sales and persuasion for decades, and the recent shift now is away from “always be closing” towards higher level listening, and coaching to make a choice. Just discovering his material, and I find it compelling. He seems to stress reading the room or your co-communicator before and as you proceed. Keen awareness is key. This is just what I’m anticipating at the very beginning, and may be way off.
I liked the whole thing and took voluminous notes that I hope to be able to read. Want to keep learning this, very interesting, both speakers were great. Thank you both.
I have so much to learn - Yes and one incredible source to follow now - all I have experienced up to this point is dull in comparison - retired (= loads of time to study and observe) = finding my newest passion! Thank you Chase Huges for your journey!
So, finding your needs is great but I would like to point people to the work that a student of Maslow has done. Steve Andreas studied under Maslow. Steve Andreas created what is called the self-concept model. This model creates in a person a framework for working on insecurities and at the same time creates a deeper ability to connect. This is a feed forward model that creates a learning framework that makes people more sensitive to feedback in a resourceful way. Sadly, Steve died. Damon Cart is teaching people this model though.
All I can think of is about Patrick Jane character from "The mentalist", the outfit, self discipline, looking goofy or distracted when starting interaction (to scan the person), having fun, etc.
I do this more to put myself at ease, rather than to analyze the other person. Except- I do base my interaction on their response to a friendly or joking opener to the convo. If they’re task-focused I figure they’re in a hurry, if they correct me I figure they’re pedantic, and no matter how important the interaction I’ll try to make it as brief as possible so I can go find someone who wants to actually interact. Otherwise I’d rather just go forth on my own.
That was useful. I have most of Chase's books, but really appreciate the advice for beginners. The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know ;-)
Sadly people generally struggle to understand or work on themselves? I talk to several strangers every day. I absolutely love what this teaches me about myself. The human relationships make life rich ❤️ A NEW EARTH BY Ekheart Tolle… Living in THE NOW but looking forward to my new book by CHASE HUGHES.
Very interesting content. I am in total agreement with Hughes that anyone who seeks to be a genuine "influencer" first needs to exude self-possession (although I now detest the word "influencer," but for lack of a better word.), and others pick up on that individual's confidence. It's almost a cliche in literature: "He was in an EXPANSIVE mood after his great success that evening...." Almost like success makes bloom bigger into the world around us. Good stuff.
If Milgram's experiment intrigues you, check out the Prisoner/Guard experiments by Philip Zimbardo at Stanford. But be aware that no human subjects committee would approve either of those study designs today. We decided these types of studies are not ethical because of the harm done to the subjects. How would you feel about yourself if you agreed to 'murder' someone in another room with electrical shocks? Yeah, there were repercussions.
How does overcoming phobias and addictions play into your technics when working with people , individually or corporate( big groups or companies)? I would love to control my weakness for shopping( but I do love it). I shop a lot but usually return the items, so it’s the shopping, not the spending.Help!
I learned something about myself. I came up with the difference between not thinking and realizing what I wasn’t thinking about, so I didn’t need to be implanted with the next message. (Not thinking is not thinking, realizing what you weren’t thinking about is a lesson for next time). so what do you make of me and my thought patterns?
This guy is awesome. I wish ‘The Behaviour Panel’ would analyse Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s body language. Whilst the Markles would make uncomfortable viewing, it would really catapult these guys out there. The two videos on Prince Andrew is up there with some of the most stimulating viewing I have ever seen.
Same story always tap to retry...yet appear on Google...is this a ploy to subscribe...or is this the only way to watch the fantastic body language experts?

@ 2:40 the talks starts
Great talk and I appreciate the host allowing Chase to speak and not try to dominate the conversation.
This was an outstanding podcast. Chase Hughes is always a tremendous source of in-depth information by communicating in an easy to understand manner.
I grew up in a cult, so I’ve experienced blind obedience to these techniques. Now that I’m free I could listen to Chase for hours and constantly learn something new. I had an ahah moment at the end-talking about creating confusion to engender compliance. I think this is how word salad works.
The Bible. Mysterious ways.
Absolutely informative! Chase doesn't miss a beat when answering questions. What an authority!
I don't understand the drive some people have to control others. Understanding people is a worthy pursuit though.

Thank you!!! ❤ 🙏 I’m so thankful for this information! Powerful stuff to help others grow!
Make others feel interesting instead of interested. That's very good advice.
Fascinating insight and very useful.... Many thanks 😊
Love this Interview! I think this guy asked the best questions from the greatest Authority

Brilliant. Both interviewer (great questions to dig in) and interviewee, expansive answers
Very good interview sir.

I'm familiar with these experiments. Certainly different times back then!

Aposiopesis anyone?
I am so sorry no one appreciated this comment! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Chase ✨✨✨✨✨ thank you Matt ✨✨✨✨✨
It should be used with discretion and foresight- don't use it as a blunt instrument> blowback.

How do you master your capacity to not transfer your responsibility to a perceived authority. Is this the side affect of mastering influence?
I learned something about myself.

Incidentally, a person can be submissive and dominant at the same time. The opposite of submissive is actually recalcitrant..

Ohhh. I’d like so see that too!
Check out The Behaviour Panel on RUclips. They just have analysed Harry and Megan with Oprah.
