I have been playing tennis for over thirty years and my profession is as a tennis coach. I've seen a lot of guys (especially two-handers) do amazing left handed shots, but you ABSOLUTELY TAKE THE CAKE. I mean every single shot looked completely natural (perhaps save the serve by a tiny margin.) I have never seen anything like you. Maybe hitting with kids lefty with the orange or green dot ball, or some foam ball, but you are hitting with other pros and even Nalbandian lefty. R I D I C U L O U S. On top of that, you guys are great coaches. Seriously.
I knew you had a lot of time on your hands but... Very impressive! I can do most shots on both sides as well but not as fast as you. It started out as just for fun but then it became a challenge to see if I could do it. Fun stuff!
You have great skills. I applaud your determination to master these strokes. It is something that can be taught because the plasticity of the brain has all the flexibility to manifest this coordination. Ambidextrous sports training is the wave of the future. The world is now becoming ready for the paradigm shift. Check out Pat Venditte. He is going to be the first full time ambidextrous pitcher in modern Major League Baseball.
Believe me, I can't do anything like this. Simon, you are awesome. But when I learned the modern forehand, when I remodeled my TS backhand, and when I changed something in my service motion I did practice the technique on the other side to kind of jump start my nervous system to doing it the new way. After spending time doing it I thought it was a worthwhile exercise.
Wow! Simon, you have awesome skill to hit with both hands! Can it improve whole game with one hand, no matter left or right one? Or it was just a trick? How would it develop my own game?
I can volley with both arms. However, my single-hand backhand is better with my non-dominant hand (my left) but my serve is considerably weaker with my left hand too. I'm trying to get rid of the awkwardness of serving with my non-dominant hand which is taking some time. But here's hoping :)
I am thinking i may as well learn two forehands because my backhand is so crap anyway it cant be much worse to do a forehand left hand instead. Also i am thinking it will be better in the long run to work both sides of the body, you halve the volume on the right side and avoid developing assymmetey. Since fitness is my lomg term goal i can afford to go backwards in my game, if that is even possible.
Hello ! Because of my back injury ,i cannot serve with the right hand, but I have no pain with the left . How much time should I spend to serve with the left? Greetins and thanks
You should try a two handed forehand. It has more potential than all of those shots because the top hand kind of "spring loads" it much more than you get with a two hand backhand (more power in other words) while at the same time you still have more control than with a one handed shot.
+emphryio I know where you're coming from with the power however the reach is limited with the two hands. If I could go back to childhood I'd work on just two forehands
Very impressive. I would like to know why there aren't many successful players that use forehands on both sides. If you are able to hit a left handed forehand as good as that, why don't you just use it instead of your backhand (assuming you can bring it up to the same level as the right side)?
The main problem is the time needed to switch between both hands. First, you would need some time to determine which side the ball is going, and its path. Then, you need to switch to the forehand side's hand, which uses even more time. It's very possible, but extremely difficult to use effectively.
I was born a leftie but developed into an ambidextrous, I play tennis and badminton the same way. I'm not nearly as good as you, but the technique is the same. 😊
TBH I still wonder why Federer hadn't worked on his lefty skills at all. His serve tossing is world class for sure. But other than that, he's almost good for nothing lefty wise. Just think of the number of crucial shots he could've saved were he somewhat ambidextrous..
It gotta be confusing as his coach. Coach: Today we are gonna work through your forehand, I mean your backhand, I mean the forehand for your left hand and the backhand of your right hand
김상명 As a junior up until 9 this is how I played. But after I started tennis again at 14 I played with right handed forehand and double handed backhand. I have hit many wide backhand shots with my left hand, but never two forehands as the main play
My deep respect to English speaking tennis brother ambidexter! Sorry I couldn't understand your name. Maybe because you speak too fast for my ears.:) But I really like everything you've demonstrated. Exept, maybe, your service with your left hand. Sometimes I do it better. Praps in 5 or 10 years you will do it good enough to stun top 10 players. Andrew, Kiev, Ukraine
Hi, Simon! I would really like to see in 2020 your play with: - dropshots from left hand; - coming to the net after your service and changing hand for the volley or smash; - and my special item: slice lobs with any hand. Wish you success, creativity and happiness! Andrew:)
Now it's Alex's turn to do this
Thumbs up if you agree

Will you post a video on how to direct the serves out wide and down the T? On the duece court and add court
I emailed you awhile ago and said that this is how I play, but right now one side is still better than the other
Noice! U guys are my favorite tennis channel! Wish for the best!

Thanks partner 👍
That is very impressive, congratulations. Have you considered mentor young tennis promises?
Aloha boys, I am very happy to be a member of this small club..yeah! :) after much effort. \m/ \m/
Impressive although right-side seems much more dominant! Very useful get out of jail or surprise shots!

As much as you want Carlos.
It won't help you improve your right-handed serve but it's good brain training and will help you balance out your body.
You should try a two handed forehand. It has more potential than all of those shots because the top hand kind of "spring loads" it much more than you get with a two hand backhand (more power in other words) while at the same time you still have more control than with a one handed shot.

Truly fantastic skills! That should make Simon an unbeatable player! Shouldn't it?
Can all the pros do that? I don't think so! ;)
Simon, I wish you were on the pro tour, you can mindf**** a lot of the pro players!
WOW. I have a question for you since quite a time! Why are you not competing in tournaments?
Thanks for watching.
I stopped competing as it was too expensive for me to do so.

Great stuff Simon, Ive sent you a msg on facebook regarding transfer effects. It would be great to hear your thoughts and experiences.
Not bad at all! But tell me, have you got to the point where you're just as comfortable to play with your left hand (assuming you're a righty)?
Suddenly I become a big fan of Simon! How the fk can you do that.
Hai man ur r cool nice
QUESTION: why not use two racquets at the same time? BTW: is it against the rules?

Amazing. But by watching the serves, you can tell he is right handed.
you must be a natural right handed player im guessing..
