    How many grand slams would Rafa have if he wasn’t lefty? 👇

    • @sravandanda2302
      @sravandanda2302 3 года назад +5

      Difficult to estimate. Assuming that everything else is same, I am sure he would have come up with other strategies to counter Novak and Roger.

    • @yeli1775
      @yeli1775 3 года назад +4

      Rafa would still be top 2 or 3, but gs would have been cut to half at least. His top spin is perfect invitation for Federer to attack

    • @SquatLife
      @SquatLife 3 года назад +3

      I think it would tip his grand slam victories over Fed to Feds side. No longer could he pick on Rogers BH so easily. Serve would be much easier for Fed and Djoker to attack. I still think his fitness and forehand would make him a force at Roland Garros. So he'd probably still get at least 6-8 of those and then maybe a few HC slams. Wimby might be out of reach. Plus Fed's second serve would be more effective against Nadal.

      You bring up good points, but you can't discount the heart of a champion. His 13 RGs are safe I think (if not he'd change for another). I say 17-18

    Lefty here. Yeah, the advantage is there. I do get tired of people attributing the reason my serve was sucessful was because it from from a lefty. I have a pretty decent serve regardless of which arm I use. There are plenty of disadvantages as well. I've struggled with my forehand because everything comes to my backhand-which was once my best stroke. I've been working on it, and I have no doubt that a good forehand is a better weapon than a good serve-at the club level anyway.

      u should play baseball then cuz lefties are sought after in baseball despite having no real advantage. theyre just nice to have and lefties end up getting more opportunities to pitch n do other shit j cuz left hand

    Your coaching videos are great for beigginers. I would appriciate that you post some of them inverted since for lefties like me is kind of hard to get the same movements right and there aren't much left handed videos on youtube.

    Lefty here. Serve is definitely the strength of my game. It doesn't have a ton of pace, but I can hit both kick and slice. I will vary placement and spin, especially if they shade to a particular side. On the ad side, the slice into the body on forehand side, or the kick that is angled wide but kicks back into the body have become very effective b/c opponents will anticipate the wide slice. I also hit a lot of wide kicks on the deuce side, again b/c opponents will shade for the expected slice. Playing other lefties is difficult b/c like righties, I'm not used to the spin, angles, patterns of play. But when thinking about it, these unfamiliar patterns/angles is how most people play going righty to righty.

  • @drigans2065
    @drigans2065 3 года назад +5

    Agreed. Also as a righty, I find in doubles on deuce side it is difficult to return the lefty slice down the T as it requires an inside out backhand return back to the server who is coming in to the net. Hitting somewhat across the line of that low ball that's moving away from you and avoiding his partner at the net is not easy.

    Strange thing is that when I learned to serve (I'm a lefty) I've always been slicing too much it came naturally so when it went in I had a big advantage (but it was mostly wide especially if I was serving on the left side of the court)

    I'm a lefty also, and I don't even slice out wide that much. I'll add a bit of speed and spin and jam the returner trying to get around on a forehand. If righties slice to me, no big deal I prefer the backhand anyway lol. Hint: Never try to run around a forehand on my serve unless you actually practiced it. The spacing is weird and you have to get away further than you think. Use your backhand instead and just do a little quarter turn and contact it in front.

    Great video. As a righty, my experience with good lefty servers is that they seem to me to combine more kick (i.e. topspin) with side spin on their slice serves than righties. The result is that not only do I need to deal with the ball veering away on my backhand, but also a high bounce. (As a righty I have a good, severe slice serve, but it's not an especially high bounce.) Maybe I'm completely wrong on this "slick", slice+kick serve being more a lefty thing, but is there any validity to this? Very curious.

    Don't think the lefty will do so well if they are right-handed.
