I am your lefty :) I have been learning to play with left hand (I am a right-handed) for the past 8 weeks. Just hitting against a wall in my basement (still cold here to play outdoors). I am beginning to hit fairly well with my left hand (both forehand and backhand). Unfortunately I have to wait for a milder weather to start practicing a serve. My approach to hitting with a left hand is emulating Johnny Mac's classic style (continental grip on both forehand and backhand). I am beginning to love hitting with the left hand (never thought I would get to this point when I started). Thanks for the video.
@@dmitryprivate6558 I think about playing lefty all the time. Just to maybe balance my body out. Spring is just around the corner! Thanks for commenting!
@@JeffLewistennis I also started brushing my teeth with the left hand. Engaging the left side of your brain is beneficial (according to my nephew who is a neurologist). Even my wife says I stopped saying stupid things all the time lol
Would love to see a super slow motion of left handed slice serve, with all the techniques and thoughts just before the racquet begins to flatten how the 4-10 looks on the ball and pronation timing etc. I see a lot of others trying to not pronate and do the opposite to spin the other way but feels wrong to me.
For sure. Need to combine some good high and behind footage along with some drone stuff to really be able to show it. I usually tell people to try and think if you were 20 feet tall and wanted to hit an angled forehand. How would your racquet behave and how can you do that with a serve.
I hear you. Pronation is probably one of the hardest things to teach as well. I have some good drone footage I’ll make a video with soon. The top shot really helps it make sense.
Great lesson Jeff! I’m a lefty who likes to hit the out wide serve. Lately I have been clipping the tape too much because I’m not getting enough upward trajectory on this serve, so I will try to practice what you mentioned. Thanks!
Where my lefties at!? Thanks for subscribing!

Respect to you!! Your content deserves a service like P r o m o s m!!
Great tip for a lefty player like me! Lovely dog!
Awesome! Glad you liked the vid. And my rescue Joyce!
Jeff, it feels strange to hit a lefty slice from 4 or 5 o'clock. I know this works with pronation. But it still seems counter-intuitive.

I am trying to get better so I can join the varsity team next year 👍
I’m sure you’ll do fine!

Hope it helps!
This clip was great but that bit in the end with pup made it amazing 😀
Joyce totally needs more cameos…
Lol I'm a natural lefty and I always confuse my teammates
