Agree with everyone here, this is by far the best explanation video I have ever seen. First describing what we do wrong, how to correct the mechanics, align the shoulders. Excellent work.
Finally this complicated stroke explaind in a clear and underastandable way! Bravo, maestro!🎉😊
So at 03:00 is actually the jackpot explanation, anyone watching the video, I suggest actually grabbing a racket at this point and repeat the movement together with Kevin, It's amazing how he manages to break down tennis so well, that's a gift.
I set my alarm for 3:00 AM. This had better be epic!
I've watched many, many serving videos by recognized "experts", whose content I still value but have never seen this motion explained this way or this clearly. Great job!
Dude, you have the best tennis technique explanations!
i feel the same about him!
Kevin does a great job in clearly explaining the serve technique with simple demonstrations that could be easily followed. I so appreciate the content he provides.
Thanks so much! Means a lot to hear that!
You have captured probably the most important yet overlooked tennis serve fundamental. Really great job, this is the video should watch first! @@TotalTennisDomination
No doubt!!!!
This the best explanation of this concept that I've ever seen!
Just brilliant ! 40 years of playing , watched a million videos but this was the best one by far to help me understand how NOT to use arms power and horizontal rotation whilst serving ; a new subscription from me ..well deserved buddy !
not use rotation is a big point to me. I have been trying to do rotation and my serve has been suffering
@@littleluck888 Until I changed my technique after watching this video I was experiencing shoulder pain after each session ; all gone now even after 3 hrs matches ...!
This video changed my life. You are an incredible teacher, finally it all makes sense! This is what every tennis instructor should be teaching players.
Kevin, I’ve seen several of your videos, but this one is amazing! I really appreciate the way you describe the mechanics/kinetics so that they are understandable. Would absolutely love to see your same type of analysis on the forehand. Thanks!
Brilliant stuff. Dont know how many serve videos ive watched and ive never seen things explained as well as this one. Really great job
Best tennis lesson ever! I wish I saw this 40 years ago!
Very nice lesson. Good explanation. People need an inexpensive tripod and their cell phone to shoot video of themselves practicing this shoulder over shoulder move and then applying it to their serve.
Thanks Kevin. Agree that this is an important aspect of effective geometry at contact.
I've heard this idea also described in terms of "don't try to have your hitting hand straight above your hitting shoulder at contact" (looking from behind), which creates an almost straight vertical line of arm and racquet at contact (looking from behind). With that geometry, apparently pronation and ISR can't cause the racquet face to go through the ball, but instead would mostly just unhelpfully twirl the racquet around the racquet handle's vertical axis. And so, in contrast to your advised geometry, hand above shoulder would mean pronation/ISR are not available to contribute to power.
This helped me so much! Was my third time playing tennis and this video helped me get the serve down 🙌
I have watched some really good videos on serving and even some from professional players on line, but this has by far been the easiest to understand. Thanks and I hope I can get my son to understand this so he can take his game to the next level.
Finally this makes sense to me! I could never figure out how to use the continental grip and actually hit the ball. Thank you so much!
You are so good at explaining this. I am very impressed. Thank you
Excellent explanation! I have four kids at various levels of tennis, and it is so hard to take them from the beginners pancake serve to a proper serve. Teaching them or their friends that they need to swing on edge is so counter intuitive to everyone at first. I think this video will help my younger ones understand the mechanics and make the transition. Heck, I have a big serve, but this added clarity to what I am doing and may help when I get off track! Well done, as usual.
So far the best service tutorial I've ever seen. More power to you Kevin👍👍👍
Nice lesson. All great serves use the shoulder over shoulder motion and rotation motion. Another big plus is with this type of serve the angle between the arm and shoulder isn't steep so it prevents shoulder impingement injuries.
I'm one of those "has beens" but had a decent serve at one time. The light bulb went on when a tennis instructor complemented my service action (even though there was no consistency) and then told me to do everything the same EXCEPT (pointing to a court light slightly in front and to my right--I'm right handed) aiming to hit the ball over the light rather than into the court in front of me. I thought it was a silly suggestion and figured I'd send the instructor to go pick the ball up somewhere well outside the fences. To my amazement I hit the best serve of my life (up until that point) and have taught many aspiring tennis players using the same suggestion. It really does work for those who are aiming for some target inside the court.
After watching the 1st half of the vid, b4 my match Saturday morning, about dominant shoulder up, & head to the side, I used it from the 1st serve to the end of the match.
Gave me just enough extra momentum in those tight situations, to get it over the net. Not one double after 3 hrs.
Now I just watched the 2nd half of the video, even more to help, looking forward 2 my next match, so I can do the full shoulder see-saw, thank you very much😘
I'm glad to watch you channel again! Good job!
You nailed it!!!❤ Bend, Bend! Bend back first (bend to Trophy Position), Bend left second (bend to hit).
I'm really digging your channel. You have great advice. Thank you.
Fantastic, you've explained so much with this one video!
Another great step by step instruction..thumbs up!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, this was a very useful video for me.
some complex moviments turned to simple by this amazing class! Thanks coach
Best video about serving I have ever seen.
speechless. You are tooooooo good !!
Incredible lesson
Absolute GENIUS!
This is awesomeee!
Kevin, great advice as this is what needs to happen. I wish I knew this years ago when I started training my sons, which are now 10 and 11 UTRs.
Cannot wait to try it 👌
Best explanation i've seen yet 👍
man, this might help me a lot. I think I level my shoulders at impact. thank you!
Great point - I had never even noticed that before
Awesome video !
Amazing. Thanks
Excellent coach Kevin! Most instructors don't focus on the tilt aspect of the serve. It definitely does put your shoulder in a strong position to use internal shoulder and forearm pronation. 👍👏
Really great input, im now about three years online research and never saw such a key motion, so good explained! Thx Kevin, always excited when you bring content out!!!
This is really good stuff, keep going. I play tennis since childhood and i can easily say that most of the so-called educational youtube tennis content is mostly crap including the Muratouglu nonsense.
what a great video.
Good explanation. Bending my knee helps too
The best explanation ever
It's funny you post this Kevin, I just made this realization this year watching back some of my footage - and woof what a game changer. Still needs work, but absolute night and day. And it's great you address it because I haven't seen any coaches (at least on youtube) mention it.
Love it, thanks!
Great service video 👋. Much appreciated 😀👍
So good
great video, great tips 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Great content Kevin, I always enjoy your videos, you should analyze Simon Freund's Pancake serve which is impressive but don't forget the syrup!
Welcome back, Kevin. another inspirational "heads up!"
Good to be back and thanks for supporting me!
So good Ryan, have tried this and it works too. Though sometimes struggle to adjust my serve as it’s a different angle. When you say once or twice would you say for one or two games in a match? Thanks again Ryan love your videos!
Thank you! Very clear insight. I will focus on this tomorrow!
So nice
와 정말좋은정보 감사요
Vielen Dank 😃
Awesome
Great Job Kevin. Simple and accurate instruction...
awesome
continental grip gives more power on flat serve too, not only to add spin, thanks to pronation adding more speed to the racket head and lets you hit the ball higher too. this is serve 101 right? I always thought shoulder position was also to hit the ball as high as possible. like if you were reaching to catch something high, you re obviously not going to keep your shoulders level. but it does make sense that upon contact your shoulder and arm are aligned so that shoulder rotation and arm swing do add up
Absolutely impressive instruction! You nailed it! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Helpful advice. Thanks!
You bet! thanks
Excellent explanation Kevin! I've discovered this myself but you have really filled out the concept and the rationale. By the way, looks like you were recording this in high wind. How did you avoid mic noise so well? Also your camera lens does a really nice background blur.
Thanks, Final cut Noise isolation helps and a little audio effects make a difference. I use a 50MM 1.8f to get the background blur.
Great tips.
Huge video! One of the best explanations on serve I`ve ever seen. And I have seen / heard / read a lot...!
Wow, thanks!
excellent technique with brilliant explanation
I Like it 😊
Wow, best serve explanation I've ever seen and will definitely share it with my daughter's high school tennis team plus the boy's team which started their season today! Also looking forward to incorporating this side bend into my own serve for more power/consistency without swinging harder.
This is the first video of yours I've ever watched but will for sure check out your other & future ones as well and will subscribe. Thank you!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Is the shoulder lean leading to contact same for flat and kick serve? I suppose the lean is the same but contact point is a bit earlier and the swing path is different. Thanks in advance
The shoulder position is the same but the amount of rotation to hit the ball is different depending on the type of serve you want to hit. If your hitting a flat/slice serve you're going to rotate more then a kick. Thanks
There are a lot of tennis tutorial channels out there that have something going for them but TTD is the best.
Thanks for the video. It only applies to kick serve, if I am not mistaken?
The shoulder position is the same for all serves but the amount of rotation to hit the ball is different depending on the type of serve you want to hit. If your hitting a flat/slice serve you're going to rotate more then a kick. Thanks
This needs a double like!!
lol...thanks! I like double likes!
can you do a video for left handers?
OH... ou...I think the lack of letting the non dominant shoulder stay semi up (not bending enough) is the reason why service motion sometimes feels so wrong and on the verge of hurting something. Makes sense, now You explained it. Welp, tomorrow I'll try to put it to test. TY.
thanks for watching!
Great video! After lifting the ball and the racquet, should it feel like your chest is pointing slightly upwards?
Yes, slightly. Thanks
I think I already watched all the tennis service on RUclips, but this video is the only one that makes sense to me💡subscribed with thanks 🌹
Awesome! thanks
underrated channel
Thanks
what does dominant side mean?
damn i need this bad
5 sec into video... Yes 👍
Shoulder over Shoulder👌👌👌👌
❤❤❤
Thanks Kevin. Very insightful.
Shoulder over shoulder
Yes, shoulder over shoulder! thanks
Kevin where can I take some private lessons from you? Seriously.
I'm located in Tulsa, Oklahoma if you want to get a private session, Contact support@totaltennisdomination.org
Thanks
Doesn’t this shoulder angle happen naturally? I can't imagine how you can keep them square and serve.
You are one of my favourites Tennis Internet Coach, your corporal and oralexpression is the best, and you dominate biomechanics. TKS!
Thanks
3:21 - The position
This was such a great video. Thank you. I think this is exactly what my tennis coach has tried to explain to me every Saturday morning. Now I understood it. Thanks again.
Kevin, I knew this, but I usually forget to make this "tilt" - thanks a million for the reminder!! Good pics of the pros tilting.
You are brilliant, teaching my son to get his head position right and it was a nightmare 😢 I was unable to explain it. Now i know how to do it ❤ You sir, are the best in business
Glad it helped! thanks
When the student is ready . . .
this video gonna save my marriage!
🤣 I'm glad that I could help! thanks
How tall is the tennis instructor?
lol..5'10
Kevin if you don't first tell us what serve your trying to achieve how can anyone learn what your saying? Because flat and slice are different.
Good point. The mechanics that explained in the video remain the same for all three serves. The difference to create spin is the path of the racket and the amount of rotation in the hips. If you want to kick serve, you will not rotate your hips as much as I demonstrated in the video compared to if you want a flat or slice serve, you will rotate your hips like I did the video. But the shoulder position still remains the same. Thanks for watching.
Just wwwwwooooow
Please rename the video to Bend Shelton! 😀
lol...Maybe next time! thanks for watching!
