- Frederick III and his British born wife Victoria had a total of eight children together. You might recognise the most famous of them all: the later German Emperor and King of Prussia Wilhelm II. But who were his other seven siblings? Well, we will answer that question in this two part series, starting today with his four sisters

I am always fascinated by the mostly unknown siblings of such historical figures as Kaiser Wilhelm II. Thank you for this close look at an extended royal family which takes us right through World War II. Can't wait for next week!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Between Charlotte and the next princess in Germany was Kaiser Wilhelm's only brother Prince Heinrich(Henry)at #3. I heard he was a lot calmer, a thinker and more rational in decisions than his brother. Germany might have been different had he ruled instead of Wilhelm. He also kept it in the family. He seemed to be happily married to his wife Princess Irene of Hesse his first cousin. Irene's mother was Princess Alice who was the 2nd daughter of Queen Victoria after Princess Victoria of Germany, her husband's mother. Irene's sisters werevals famous. Princess Alexandra, the wife of Czar Nicholas II the last Czar of Russia. Elizabeth who was married to the uncle of Nicholas, the brother of Czar Alexandr III of Russia, Nicholas' father. Princess Irene older sister was Princess Victoria of Hesse. She was the grandmother of Prince Philip of England and great grandmother of the new King Charles III.( add also before the word famous).
@@michaelverbakel7632 Yes, birth order is everything when taking into consideration extended royal families and inevitably leads to thoughts of what might have been - a Kaiser Heinrich, for example. Also, the daughters of Princess Alice have always been of special interest to me, probably because of their diverse fates, so I followed your reply all the way! I know that Alice was a carrier of hemophilia, since her youngest son had it. And of course her daughter Alexandra brought it to Russia. The German royal family was spared that.
Frederick iii and his queen Victoria (daughter of Britain's queen victoria) were the lost (due
to death) and last hope of Imperial Germany!. It is truly unfortunate that his reign was
cut short.
Intelligent and cultured, he suffers from an inferiority complex due to his left arm being paralyzed since birth. He will constantly strive to hide this handicap which prevents him from practicing arms and riding well. one of his big mistakes will have been to dismiss Bismarck who, although very old, would have allowed him to avoid certain political errors… thank you for this video 🙏
Thanks for watching
He actually rode very well. And 'cultured'? Not a strong quality.
Thank you for bringing them to light since many people don't know who they are.
It’s not often that the death of one individual massively alters the course of history but if Frederick III, with all of his liberal and cultured instincts, had not died so prematurely in 1888, then the militaristic, expansionist, hostile culture would never have developed as it was allowed to under his desperately inadequate son. It’s not a big stretch to say that that throat tumour precipitated the outbreak of World War 1 barely 26 years later.
I love German nobility and I love to study on Royalty and Statesmen ❤
"An uncommon woman" by Hannah Pakula has great info, diary excerpts & other contemporary anecdotes about Empress Frederick's daughters (and the rest of the book is fabulous too)
I will check it out, thanks!
Most Interesting !!

Thanks!
Beautifully presented thank you
Wonderful information! My ex-husband's family are direct descendants. Our 2 children have suffered with symptoms identical to the porphyria you thoughtfully mentioned. It may not be the answer, but it is an avenue to be explored. Thank you for sharing your insight.
Thanks! Very interesting!
I ❤ this video, actually I❤ all of your videos! You taught me new info on his sisters! I

So sad 🤔😒
Never get married first place ! 😅
Germany really should restore it's kingdom and be great again,
The kingdom of Germany sounds pretty intimidating.
This would be a big mistake
Perhaps a deeper knowledge of history would make you rethink that, as well as a deeper understanding of what being great means. Right now Germany is united and a strong democratic member of the European Union. You want a third failed attempt at world domination in order to show greatness by hereditary royals who got the position strictly by virtue of gender and birth order, rather than decency and ability? Most of us want peace in Europe, not a return to the periodic slaughter that plagued the region for all of its modern history. This is truly the ugliest and most disturbing effort to see the horrifying past as the good old days I have read on yt, even worse than those who think the Great Depression was the good old days.
Wilhelm II Told His Sister Queen Sophia Of Greece That She Would Go To HELL For Converting From The German Evangelical To Greek Orthodoxy,WOW,What A Brother!!! 🙄🤯🤪🥴😑
CONSIDERING HIS UNCLE had been the king of Greece before his assassination it’s ironic and WILHELM ran away before WW1 ended he was a immature man totally
Source bro
A bit weird, considering his granddaughter, princess Friedericke of Hannover, became Queen Federica of Greece (King Constantine's mother).
The conversion was required, as Sophie's husband was to be King of the Hellenes.

Great job. But please out of respect. Pronounce the german names. German. We germans also. Love our language...thank you. Alles liebe.
Also, I thought the Germans had been rightfully taken down a peg but clearly you missed the boat.
