Queen Mary was an amazing woman. What a disappointment her first born son must have been. Her second born and her grand daughter Elizabeth must have been her pride and joy.

Actually, if you look at pictures of Elizabeth Queen Mother from the 1940s, you can see that both Queen Elizabeth II and her sister, Princess Margaret take after their mother but definitely received some facial refinement coming down from Mary of Teck. Then look at Anne, Princess Royal and she's a doppelganger for her aunt Princess Margaret.

My mother's godmother was in Queen Mary's household and she told us the Queen was much loved and respected by everyone. She was a model of service and duty to country and I believe Queen Elizabeth learned much from her grandmother.
As a child, my own godmother took me to Windsor Castle to see the carpet the Queen had embroidered. I still have the souvenir book of this. It inspired me to take up needlework and with every tapestry I work, I remember the Queen.

Queen Mary was the bomb. Such an intelligence and lover of art, music, and literature. Wow, and what a tiny waste. And her taste in jewelry was unprecedented. I wish she would have made it to Queen Elizabeth ll crowning. George and Mary were a beautiful couple. That Teck Tiara is gorgeous. My favorite portrait of Queen Mary is when she’s wearing Cullinan 1,2,3 and 4! Her biography is the next on my reading list. I think she’s marvelous. And buried a
a fiancé, a husband and 3 sons. The gal went through it in Life, but still maintained the regal essence of a true Queen.

Queen Mary of Teck was related to Queen Victoria, she just wasn't a descendant. Queen Mary of Teck's mother, Mary Adelaide was a first cousin to Victoria. Victoria's father was the 4th son, while Mary Adelaide's was the 7th son of King George III and Queen Charlotte. So Queen Mary of Teck was a Second cousin to her husband, King George V.

Apparently Mary said according to her grandmother The Duchess of Cambridhe "They Thought The Duke of Teck would be a suitable match for "Fat Mary" He loved her passionately, not caring about her size and Queen Mary's grandmother said "It was a suitable match and after a quick ccourtshipthey married. They thought it would do....and it did!" 😊 The Duke and Duchess of Teck had quite a few kids and Francis was not known to have taken a Mistress.

Interesting that in pics as a young woman she was not as lovely as in her later years, when she was quite exquisitely elegant. It may happen frequently for men, but very rarely for a woman. She must have come into her own as a quiet force of nature. I believe her family set precedent for a Happy Marriage, which is often lacking among Royal unions.

From the people behind the craftsmanship of the Crowns of the old you can see the perfection of their craft....well executed well made. Even the style of Queen Mary's hair, perfect you cannot see a strand of hair astray. The clothes she wear, classy and dignified. People of the modern era are so used to the convenience that dignity is in the garbage and peolle refused to uphold dignity by surrendering to classy public appearance and make do with cheap, fleeting fashion all for the name of being judged as snub, insensitive.

It is a shame that Mary was not able marry that imbecile. Had she done so, she would have been relegated to some obscure second marriage in a German court. George would not have been forced to take on his brother's widow. Instead George would be matched with a German princess instead from the continent. That could have altered the dynamics following the death of Ferdinand. Had she not married George, the shameful abdication would not taken place.

I find it enormously entertaining that you've swallowed so much lying propaganda uncritically.
      1. Albert Victor wasn't stupid. It was easier for royal propagandists to portray him as stupid rather than to admit the truth that he was gay.
      2. If Wallis Simpson had possessed the guts to ignore Edward VIII's threats of suicide and violence and leave him like she wanted to, there never would have been an abdication - and Britain would have had a traitor king at the worst point in history. The abdication saved Britain.

@@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co This! There's quite a bit of evidence that Albert Victor wasn't stupid and sometimes seemed insightful actually. He was gay or at least bi and was caught in gay brothels. Some courtiers were probably relieved he died because they wouldn't have been able to hide those scandals for years if he had lived to be king. People cling on to the 'stupid' thing because it was spread by The Firm to make George look better by contrast. Albert Victor wasn't a bright student, but that doesn't necessarily mean he was an imbecile. Edward VII wasn't particular bright in schooling either. To me Albert Victor reads like someone that had ADHD or a slight learning disability, but nothing as he's been portrayed. He was someone with average intelligence like most monarchs in his family.
Also, agree with you about Wallis, it's a good thing Edward VIII abdicated. He would have aligned with the Nazis and was far too careless with state secrets. Good riddance!

@@feyrol42 Albert Victor was never caught in a gay brothel. He was implicated as being involved in one by a disreputable person but was never sighted there even after lengthy police surveillance of the premises.
