Charles III's Cousins

  • In today’s video we will discover the lives of King Charles III’s many cousins. To be exact he has 22 - only two of them come from his mothers side of the family, while the rest are his paternal cousins. We will uncover their lives, their children and perhaps even their deaths. Some of them are better known to the public, just like his maternal cousins David Armstrong-Jones and Lady Sarah Chatto while most of his paternal cousins were forgotten over time. Perhaps due to the fact that all of his aunts married into German royalty. However as the monarchy in Germany was abolished after the first world war, all of the monarchs lost their titles.

    David is known professionally as David Linley but he is no longer a Viscount and is the 2nd Earl of Snowden following his father’s death in 2017.

    Thanks for this interesting video ! FYI, Princess Frederica of Hannover went to British Columbia, Canada, to study at Simon Fraser University. She met her future husband, Mr Cyr, there. Their two children, a daughter and a son, were born at the beginning of the 1980s.

      Three of his nephews attended his funeral but there were many more who couldn't attend due to the limit on numbers. The three who attended were those he was in regular contact with but there are many more in both the Danish and Greek monarchial lines.

    Lady Sara Chatto has never been royal. She takes her rank from her late father, the Earl of Snowdon. Princess Margaret publicly stated, "My children are not royal. They just happen to have a Princess as a mother". The children of Princess Alexandra are also not royal.

      @@krishnavyas313 Quite a while ago I chanced on a list of people by 'rank' to succeed to the English throne. It was over 500 names, some listed more than once because of their ancestors' marrying within the family. . Most were without titles and 'the world' had probably never heard of them. I'm going to find it again as a curiosity. There's misogyny in who's royal, I gather.

    • @nl887
      @nl887 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@richardw3470yh theres alot of misogyny as it always used to be the first born son who was to be king and a woman could only be queen if there was no sons, even if she was older than the son. Now women hold their place in the line of succession as queen Elizabeth changed the rule when Charlotte was born but pretty sure the rule where princesses cant give their title to their kids hasnt been changed. This is the rules for the british monachy though in other countries its different

      Ferdinand Soltmann, but yes. Of course Kraft's children knew the family history--they knew it didn't come from their grandfather Gottfried who was descended from Prince Alfred, because neither of them had hemophilia, so they knew it had to come from their grandmother Margarita, especially because Margarita is descended from Princess Alice, who was known to be a carrier. The only surprise is that Alice's oldest daughter Victoria of Hesse was also a carrier, and passed it on to her eldest daughter Alice of Battenburg, who passed it on to her eldest daughter Margarita. It doesn't seem like Alice's other daughters were carriers, and certainly Prince Philip didn't have hemophilia.
      Unfortunately, Prince Kraft was cremated, so there's no way to test his remains and see if he had hemophilia.

    Holy Schnikies David Armstrong Jones (or some such...Margaret's son) looks exactly like his 2nd cousin Prince William of Wales. Sadie's Sarah. They all have that same giant mouth that King Charles has and Queen Elizabeth II had.. inherited from...I don't know who..Mary of Teck? George VI? It had to come from the agnatic line of Saxe Coburg Gotha to effect all of the cousins.

  • @ABC1701A

    So Margarita, Theodora, Cecile and Sophie were all Prince Philip's sisters then?
    You are only mentioning first cousins as well I notice, King Charles has lots more cousins that those mentioned here and although most are 2nd or 3rd cousins they are still very very close.
    But who were the three nephews who attended Prince Philip's funeral, I thought they might have been Cecile's sons but the ages are definitely wrong, they were much much younger than they would have been (example born in 1931 puts him at 92 but the none of the nephews who attended were even close to that age), and they would also be cousins to Charles.
