  • Let's kick off a new series! Probably looking at 7 videos (8 if you count this one) where I go over everything I know about tuning this transmission!

How much of this info corresponds with the "transverse" version of this trans, aka the 6T series (45, 70, 75, etc). I'm in the process of researching some tuning upgrades for my 6T75 in a 2013 GMC Acadia. Some for general shifting concerns, some for slight TCC shudder, and a few other things. Most of the vids, and info I've seen seems to be the same between the 6L80/90 (tons of vids), and the 6T70/75 (not so much vids) as I look at my settings in HPTuners. For example, the 6T75 has those exact same params for Torque Factor, and Speed Ctrl Terminate as well as many others. So is it safe to assume most of what applies to the T43 TCM for the GM A6 "L" and "T" are the same? Thanks, about to move on to your Part 2 vid!

I don't have experience with the T version of the trans. My gut tells me that all the concepts from these vids will apply to you, but I don't have any way of knowing that. At a minimum these videos will give you a conceptual understanding of what settings do what and how to tackle the changes.

@@SilverSurfer77 Thanks for the reply, I have to agree as I pretty much had my 6T75 trans tune open in VCM Editor and with the exception of a few params, most of what you talked about and covered was in there. The values were different in some places, but it make sense since yours was likely a V8 engine, and mine's a V6 with significantly different power and torque curves. I'm in the data logging process at this point, and will start with the somewhat benign change to just disable TCC in the 1-4 gears, and see how that improves things. Really great videos, you really do a great job to give the why and how of a lot of things where most just say do this or that, and you're honest to say when you don't know what something does, or doesn't...much appreciated!!

Hello. Can this tune be done if the transmission is swapped into a different vehicle running a Holley ECU?

This guide is really dealing with the OEM T43 TCM module and tuning with the parameters that HPTuners has exposed. You may have a Holley ECU, but what are you using for a transmission controller?

Is it possible, or advisable, to remote tune a 6L80? Is there a way to contact you directly?
