+Oscar Gonzalez Yeah, I disregard most of them though. When you start making that many Avengers it takes away from the cool tight-knit group feel it originally had. The first 10 years were the best comics, the small group made up of primarily the same people. Those were the best storylines! "Cap's kooky quartet" was badass!

Marvel made their own version of Thor, so did Disney, hell even Fire Emblem just recently made their own version of Thor and Loki and Surtr etc. that’s just an example. As for Hercules, the same applies to him, aww man I would love to see him in a marvel movie! Who would win in a fight Marvel’s Hercules or Disney’s Hercules?

What I LOVE about this video is that the man's voice and tone goes perfectly with the background music. Also the visuality of the transition to the next avenger and their facts is spot on.

You missed Squirrel Girl, who became an Honorary Avenger, by being the Babysitter of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones baby. Yea its weird that she is a member by technical standards but I think she later became an Official Avenger in her solo comic.

Personally, I prefer the characters from the 60's and 70's. The classic Avengers stories with Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man/Giant-Man, Wasp, Hawkeye, Vision, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, etc., were great.
Me, too, maybe up to Mantis/Moondragon/Beast/Wonder Man.
I definitely would extend it to the 80s! I enjoyed the roger stern stage with she-hulk, captain marvel monica rambeau, hercules, namor, black knight. Maybe not the most classical members but the stories were entertaining

I recognized a few of these images as being from the Avengers Alliance facebook game (which was awesome). The art for Sandman and Dr. Voodoo definitely came from there and probably Luke Cage and Nova also. It was a great game which lasted 4 years even though it was only intended to promote the first Avengers movie.

Courtesy of an uncle of mine, my sisters and I were allowed to carefully read his comic book collection, that included the entire first volume of the Avengers. For many years they were my favorite, and being an Avenger had a special status in the Marvel continuity. But then Avengers-Inflation set in and way too many heroes joined. It was no longer anything rare or special at all. By the way, a careful reading of Volume 1 and the West Coast Avengers clearly shows that the Two-Gun Kid was NOT a member of the team, nor did the Thing join...the latter actually took a pass. Maybe they became members later, but they did not become members at that time.
He helps the team in "Avengers" #142 and supposedly becomes a reserve member in #147. He was and is still referred as member of Avengers today( last such mention was on 50-state Avengers cover set). And In West Coast Avengers V2 #9 When Hawkeye asks The Thing if he wants to join the team , The Thing clearly says :" Wouldn't miss it for the world", which literally means "yes." Hawkeye becomes even surprised by the fact that The Thing didn't start guffing around. Sure, it was for a moment, but it still counts.
One of the very best history rundown of a very heavy offshoot title in marvel. You put together a great and very simplified background and quick explanation of the many titles in its long history. Great job. It is an enjoyable and entertaining watch. Thank you.👍

Captain Mar-Vel is missed... he joined after Mantis in the Thanos saga along with Moondragon, then Two Gun Kid, then the Beast and then Hellcat... Swordsman also joined along with Mantis, and not before Hercules, he was a villain at this time...

You could always go eith omnibus , they have like 20 years worth of chronological stories in one book . They are expensive though but completely worth it for those who want to start from the beginning .

3:51 Rhodes, War Machine, didn't become the Iron Patriot in the comics, though he did in the films. Tht was Norman Osborn during the series "Dark Reign". While in some later comics he wears suits resembling this for a short period in response to his presentation in Iron Man III. Little mistake like this makes it feel like anybody could have written this video. Set that aside, I like how these videos are put together.

Rhodey didn't become Iron Patriot in the comics. In the comics, Iron Patriot was the alias used by Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) when he fronted the Dark Avengers.

One minute in and already an omission: Wonder Man officially became an Avenger for issue #9 as part of a plot by the Masters of Evil to defeat them but had a change of heart and saved them only to "die" at the end. He officially becomes the 7th Avenger.

The 1st time I ever heard of "The Avengers" was in & when I first moved to the U.S. and even tho I didn't understand any English, I my pops bought me both of "The Kree-Skrull War" issues & I'd flip through those pages & I'd marvel (pun intended) at the amazing art & I'd study the drawings. I still have both of these issues & somehow they're both in excellent shape.

He wasn’t killed immediately , though . He has his own quite big amount of appearances, mostly as support character because that’s what he was intended to be. He was a struggling superhero, with wish to help people ( he even enlisted in Iraq) and to be recognized, which was impossible because he is a D-list ( no pun intended) hero.most of his stories have tragic twist in them. He still appears in the stories, albeit powerless.
