    Well, you just keep impressing us with your math and design skills, Gary! I love your new ring cutter. I'll bet you have people wanting to buy one from you! LOL! I know, I know, you already had a job and you're not interested in having another one! This video is so well done, Professor! You are leaving a legacy for generations to come and I'm proud of you!

      Thank you very much Phil and yes I am getting a lot of questions on if the are available for purchase. So many variables on banjo shapes and sizes it might turn into a real nightmare and make me thinking I have a job again. I have not had that bad dream for a few years now LOL
      This was lots of fun to do and so for seems to be well liked. My video last week was a bit of a flop LOL.
      Thanks for watching my friend,

    As soon as I saw the thumbnail for this video a game show bell went off in my head...ding ding ding. I knew how well it would work to cut any angle accurately. I had to chuckle when I saw the popsicle used to set the angle. You think like me at times. At least on the simple things. What flavor was the popsicle? LOL.
    There might be a market for this jig idea. ????
    Well done, but be careful, you keep setting the bar higher with each video Gary.

    • @ThePapa1947
      @ThePapa1947  2 года назад

      Thank you Gil, yes I think this jig is much better than the other. But the other works good as well.
      I save those popsicle sticks for mixing 5 minute epoxy or CA and sawdust. They are actually from juice bars we like. Also some Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars as well.
      Thanks for watching,

    Gary, it's a beautiful bowl but I think you really outdid yourself in terms of creating an informative teaching video, especially for those who wanted a visual of how it all works and watched to the end. The jig is ingenious but I think you came up short in one detail that will have many of us scratching our heads. You failed to answer the key question: What brand of popsicle? Hi Gary. Quick update. The tool steel did finally arrive a few months back but I had a series of retaining walls to replace beside the house and spent six months with contractors intermittently (!) working the project. Every contractor and sub was to their ears with work so it was very difficult to keep people on the job as they had way to much to cope with and too few workers to boot. So here I am in December finally watching this video again. Now I'm off to find the other video that showed how you used a tool post and flat attachment to build a multi angle fixture as I do not have the equipment to easily manufacture the one shown in this video. But first off to the dentist. Thanks again for all you share, you have taught me a great deal. Best of the Season to you and yours. Cheers, Gord

      @ThePapa1947  Год назад

      Thank you Gord and hope those contractors get it all done for you.
      I understand limited time to get things done for sure.
      The first fixture I made will work just fine. I just like making fixtures so did the others.
      Best of luck and Merry Christmas.
      Gary

    Thanks for the lessons of how and why you cut the rings. Like the parting tool guide. Simple and sturdier that the previous wooden one.

      Thank you Stuart. I had this guide in mind when I made the first one. But I needed something fast so I made the wooden guide. It does work fine and by request I made a video on it. It will still do the job and you can put multiple slots in it. But I do like the new one much better.

    I always thought when turning bowls you waste a lot of material, you have shone away that saves that material and opens up endless possibility. Nice jig !! simple and very practical. I do tend to think that people over complicate things. Thanks Gary

    • @ThePapa1947
      @ThePapa1947  Год назад

      Thank you very much. For sure they does save a lot of nice wood that you have to purchase. I sure would not buy a huge kiln dried blank to turn a bowl. That is a shame for the real fancy stuff.
      I do not feel real bad if I turn something that was headed for the fire place though. Which it seems most of pieces of trees end up there.

    Thanks Gary, I was going to make the wood guide for my bar, but the new guide direct to the banjo is brilliant. I will have to make one and try it. I had made several bowls by cutting rings with bandsaw, but this looks much better.

    I am a furniture maker and get the bug to turn about one month out of each year, usually after taking a turning class. Thank you very much for the inspiration.
