You should try reading Janette Oke series. Especially the first “When Calls the Heart” Series and the return to the Canadian West. We have also now started the “Love Comes Softly” series. We read them as nighttime readers with my children. And my children and I love them! They show the importance of relationships with God, decency, submitting our emotions to the Lord, and they are enjoyable. Even my preteen son enjoys the nightly reading. They are a family win, which is a praise God moment, because finding clean enjoyable story lines that are God honoring can be quite the task!

Hello! My name is Kady Howard. I am in high school, but I love your videos so much. I love the homemaker chats; they are like having coffee with a friend. I have a few video requests. First, I would love a video all about your chickens. How you made their coop, what you feed them, how you keep the eggs fresh, why you don't have a rooster, and how you protect them. I dream of having chickens. I have always loved them since I was little. I would also like a video about what you do to prep your garden in the fall, how you prepare it for the winter and spring planting, and what you do in the spring before you start planting. Thank you for making these videos; I have learned so much from you!

I found a moment of quiet to watch for the first time in awhile!! And I am currently on this journey of prioritizing spending money here vs there…and I resonate so much with the shed story and the cardboard shelving. We needed to build a large fence around our garden area to keep deer out and if we would have hired someone and built a beautiful perfect fence it would have easily been $10-20k. But we decided to take the horse fence apart and make our own creation for WAY WAY less. While using materials we have.
First thing a neighbor comes and says it “well I wouldn’t have done it that way”, and I’m thinking in a perfect world we wouldn’t have either 😅but we need a garden next year and this is how we get there. No one can ever really understand what you’re prioritizing and why but I get this!!! When
You own more land it’s a wake up call to how many
Places your money could go 🤣

I re-read Jane Austin's books every summer when I sit outside in the sunshine 🙂. I'm very traditional & I haven't ever noticed anything feminist about them either. I like that they contain words that aren't used much or at all anymore. That way I can look them up in the dictionary! Love your channel. God bless my friend 🙂☀️

I really enjoyed this video! I love the idea of using the stamp shelf for your thread! Depending on how many of larger spools you have maybe they can be lined up on the top. The wood looks so beautiful, you really found a wonderful piece with that. And that crock, what a great find that is and I think your rolling pins will be awesome in it.
As a homeschooling mom we read a lot and one of the favorites was the Little House series. I read them out loud when the kids were little and my daughter (40) who was and still is a reader, read them on her own many times. I still have the set of books albeit tattered and worn. I would love to dig those out and read them again. I have never read Pride and Prejudice but I have a tradition of watching certain movies when we go on vacation. P&P is one of them. I really have to concentrate because even though I’ve seen it sooo many times, if I don’t pay attention sometimes I can’t understand what they’ve said lol. I hope you enjoy reading the next books. Have a blessed day. 🤗

I also have related to what you share lately about the husband & home is a woman's career. I have been having that yearning inside. I am single for awhile now, children grown, and I am growing, learning in God until God's timing for such a husband to walk along side. You are such an encouragement, and I thank you for joyfully sharing what you do!

Oh, Kelli! you will LOVE the Little House books. I read them aloud to my daughters when they were young (elementary age). We read aloud every single night! They really give you a sense of appreciation for what our ancestors went thru & how resourceful they were. My suggestions is to skip Farmer Boy until you have read Laura's books first. In my opinion, it interrupts the flow of her story & you don't need to know what he (Almonzo) was up to until you find out they will get married way at the end of the series.
Interesting fact: My mother's ancestors bought The Wilder's house (in Malone, NY) when they sold it & moved West. The house is now a museum & we took our daughters there to make the story come alive. It was very well preserved & a fun, interesting trip!
I love your resourcefulness & all of your 'shelf talk' made me think of 2 parts of the Little House series. #1, Pa carves Ma a beautiful shelf for her to place her one 'treasure', a china doll, on. They take this shelf & doll with them to all of their houses #2. A young woman (Mrs. Boast) they befriend shows Ma how to make a 'what not' & how to cut paper resembling lace, to adorn this cornershelf/whatnot. & what fun they had making it. It was not fine furniture, but being so far removed from 'civilization' & still wanting a beautiful home, these ladies had to make pretty things out of what they had on hand! Just like you! People around me tease me that I am like Ma Ingalls & what a compliment!!!!
We like the tv show, too, because it makes us laugh. But it is not accurate at all & alot of 1970s social justice ideas. But we still find it better than any modern tv. In the winter, my husband announces; "L-HOP Night". He pops the DVD in, I make popcorn & both girls come & settle in on the couch & we laugh & laugh.

😮 Oh Kelli! 😅I gasped, rinsed the tomatoes of my hands and dried them to pause the video!! I can’t believe you have never read the little house books!! These were a staple in my home growing up so much so I almost feel related to Laura! One of my most cherished childhood memories was a series rainy fall days where my busy dairy farmer dad couldn’t get out in the fields so he stayed inside (rare!) and read aloud to us while we built Lincoln log cabins (another thing to start looking for at thrift shops!). Each of us kids and all my cousins were all given a set of these books. Our original ones from grandmas house are so worn out you can’t even touch them! Anyway I call these my contentment books…. Anytime I start to get in a funk and feel discontent I get these out! Ma had such a way of doing with so little and is such a beautiful role model. Also…. The way Almonzo describes his mother and sisters and the beauty he saw in food is such a funny lesson on getting to a man’s heart through his stomach! And then there’s the long winter…. I always read it as winter sets in! Oh, and the first four years!!!! So good for the newly weds or soon to be married!!!
Kelly, I can’t wait for the inspiration you draw from these books!!♥️♥️
I’ve been married for 25 years and homeschooled 4 kids… and I still draw inspiration from your videos, I share them with my girls and other young people I know and I pray for you and Scott and the important kingdom work you are doing!!!
    ❤❤❤❤
…. Ok back to my tomatoes 🍅

      @juanitahofmeister6605 3 дня назад

Ps…. There is actually a chapter in one of the little house books where they clean up the cabin and ma takes paper and cuts scallops that look like lace and she taps it to a rough little corner shelf that pa made here and the girls just think it is the most beautiful and wonderful thing!!! Reminds me of your TP tube shelves! Seriously MA Ingalls was the queen of contentment. ❤

I am a mother of 9, a wife, a homeschooler, small homesteader, and adult child of a dysfunctional family. Struggling through a lot of abuse, and never taught any of the skills necessary for really life.
I constantly feel overwhelmed. Trying to learn how to live the life I want while also managing so many people and being joyful for my family.
It’s just so hard to manage it all and sometimes I just want to fall apart and melt on the floor because I feel like I’ll never be the wife and mother I truly want to be

Thank You for Your promises that children are an inheritance from You- Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them.
