Nice bluegill! My wife and I each caught a bluegill today on just the hook! We thought it would be fun to try...and it worked! They must have been hungry.
From what I know from experience so far, I think bluegills will bite anything that moves... Caught them on plastic worms, crankbaits, rooster tail, hot dogs, night crawlers, spinner baits... Maybe it depends where you fish...

I was out there not to long ago and I only caught three fish. A crappie and two bluegill. I was planning on frying them up but I decided it wasn't much of a meal and let them go. I haven't been back since then. I live about a half hour away so it isn't a bad drive if you got any tips of where to fish I would love to hear them. I don't have a boat though so only bank fishing.
A buddy of mine caught a 2in bluegill and while he's reeling him in, a big bass came and swallow the bluegill. 2 fish in one. Lol. Its unbelievable but he just got lucky. Lol
David Fletcher Number 6 or 8 hook. The float doesn't matter that much. Here is a little known secret. Bluegills LOVE Slim Jims. Much, much, cheaper than the live crickets these guys are buying!

I recommend trying slim jims. Bluegill go crazy for those and its something to snack on while your fishing.

+AlanFishing use beemoths! Those things catch them like crazy! I caught 11 in 1 hour using only beemoths.
