there is regulation.. one per day.. but this lake has 0 worries of running out of trophy catfish.. if you arent getting them you arent in the right area. and yes there are tons of them and i only fished here a year and i already know that. and where most of them are you cant commercial fish there anyways so really you dont have any worry of running out of trophys you just need to learn to fish the lake and dam better. most trophy fish get thrown back anyways. the better eating are the ones that are bertween 1-6 pounds.
The best bait ive found on barkley is yellow bass super easy to catch one fish will probably last all night and the skin is as tough as it gets ive caught probably 10 catfish between 2 and 20 lbs off of one piece
These carp are great bait, especially since they don't come off the hook each time something bites. Every time I go to the dam the first thing we do is find a dead one and cut it up for cats.
I just watched the vid on the carp madness in kentucky 4 yrs ago Does this carry on is the asian carp problem still bad Im in uk my folks live in southern spain for catfish you want to get on the river ebro in spain they get cats 200 lb plus big monsters Also take a look at guys fishing in india for a fish called golden maseer i may have spelled it wrong Tight linès gentlemen
the carp are a big problem.. they get on my trotlines and mess up my commercial gear all teh time.. mainly because where i fish with the lines is mainly big heads and the avg size is like 40lb plus..
@@bankfishingislife5484 where do run into them? Id like to know because they are fun to catch and ive had a bit of trouble finding spots to target them
the lake will never run out of fish.. its a myth if you think it will. you can never overfish a lake.. the only time its possible is when its very first stocked with stupid fish after the spawn though all the fish are then natural to the lake and many will survive.
thats a myth and if you fished ky and barkley lakes and dams consistently you know it will never be short on catfish. never ever.. unless they drain it and kill them all on purpose. but people will never outfish it even with the commercial fishing going on there.. it will never be overfished..
where do you think restauraunts and fish markets get their fish.... the sky.. lol.. we commercial fish ky lake and barkley and the rivers and supply the fish to the markets which supply it to the other places. lol.... if you fished a lot you would know the lake doesnt need you to release every big fish.. there are hundreds of thousands of big fish in that lake.. also when paylakes are open a lot of monster fish caught from commercial fishing do survive and go to paylakes.. just saying.. the lakes and dams will always have monsters. just learn to fish them and you can catch them yourself and put your kids grandkids on them also.. but not if you just cry about it.
@@jtotherog i call bs.. bad fisherman always blame something.. learn to fish. and 99% of the fish i sell to market are 4-6 pounds.. so not sure what you are talking about. and the lakes/dams have millions of fish in it lol.
those first 2 fish are great examples of why i cant stand fresh water fishing anymore. those guys just brought them in , no big deal, no real fight, but if they were catching ANYTHING that size in salt water, they would have had a battle royalle of their hands. i am just board fishing fresh water. the fish are weak, spuratic, and just plain boring.
Great vid guys, love that , '' you loose that fish you're out''! Alot of fun!
great show! love those cats
Great coverage, now if we can only get some regulations on the trophy catfish we would definitely have a great fishery for years to come.

Very nice catfish!
What kinds of rods do you use catfish with and line sides
How deep were you dropping that line? Which damn is that?

How would someone go about freezing swim bladders for later use?

indiana146 yes it's still an issue but there still a problem but it's better than it was 2 yrs ago. I live 15 minutes from ky lake

Wished more people practice catch n release on catfishing so our grand kids would have a chance to catch more big cats

Uncle Jim knows how to catch em got to go up against dad some time hahah
Great viedo
LET THE MONSTERS GO. A big cat takes years to grow to that size. If the big ones don't keep breeding, there'll be none for your grandkids.

Really blue catfish no offense
All ways catch and release. Save the big ones for our children to catch. Go to captain D's if your hungry LOL
Anglers arent the issue, its commercial fishing
