DISCLAIMER: I’ve had all brands of trolling motors fail on me before (long time subscribers know) so this is not a knock on the Move at all. Still a super solid trolling motor! Unfortunately mechanical issues are just apart of the game.

It’s the ones without boats that thinks it’s throwing shade. Because having installed all major brands except Move YET…. But I’m sure someone will bring me one to install. But I’ve seen them all fail.
I have seen the same problem with the move. It loses connection from the foot pedal
You have terrible luck with trolling motors you can’t get a break 😂 I have the move and love it. People without boats don’t know mechanical issues are just a part of it
We live just up the hill from ky lake around New Johnsonville on the west side of the river. Before the Asian carp bass and crappie fishing was great. Now not so much.
I was fishing w/ Denny Brauer when his trolling motor failed. I was shocked when he pulled out a completely new unit out of his second-rod box! Changed it out in 5 minutes!. (old Johnson ) in 92 on the Potomac.

Lots of guys carried a spare in the boat back in the day or had one in their truck. Gotta be ready.
When TM's only cost about 600.00 it was easy to do. Now days, no way unless you are highly sponsored.

Even if you carried a cheaper backup, when this much money is on the line, it’s stupid for these guys not to have a spare!

Back in the 60s and 70s we didn't have a trolling motor but my father could take a paddle and from the bow of the boat move it everywhere. I tried to do it but couldn't. He had his left bicep blown off at anzio so he was very strong in right arm.
It's called sculling..It does not require a great deal of strength, but is entirely technique. It requires a great amount of patience.
An.old man fishes brush tops in a lake in my area, using that technique. He fishes for crappie and uses the technique because it is quiet. He will catch fish when they are tough to catch.
My dad was also wounded at Anzio! He caught shrapnel from a German tank. He died of a heart attack in 1967,I was only 7 years old but he had already instilled a lifelong love of fishing and hunting and the outdoors . Salute to your father and mine! Truly americas greatest generation!
@@Scott-kn1cx My dad lived to age 86 after getting 3 purple hearts and having 3 heart attacks. The first one was at age 50 fishing on a boat alone. He woke up made it home and fell out again. Luckily my mother's doctor was there getting fresh vegetables and saved his life. Living to 2005 i think.
That’s why I still have a cable drive trolling motor.
wind and kentucky lake used to fish it many years a go in march for crappie just have to find coves and pockets with much wind just have to hang in there and fish !!!!!!
When the white caps come up at Paris Landing on Ky Lake, u got to get off, that lake will kill u. My dad started fishing there as soon as they made the lake in the late 1940’s.
Ky/barkley -My local lakes Carolina rig big green pumpkin lizards , flip big brush hogs on cypress stumps. Little bear and big bear creek also Johnathon creek.
There is a "Barkley Triangle" from the State Park ramp, up Little River to the bend, and out to the main channel bluff on the lake. I personally have been in THREE different rigs at completely different times when holes were blown in the powerheads, or waterpumps gave out. Something about that damned stretch of water out in front of Barkely State Park ramp!!!!
Hm…. Interesting. I don’t have a trolling motor either. Have a beat up 2011 Sentra though. Can’t get to “good bass lakes”. But gets me pond hopping in central Florida and I regularly catch 7+ pounders. No googan bait sponsorship, no stacks and stacks of pre rigged overpriced gear. Just one ugly slick and a baitcaster in my hands and the wife constantly texting when I’m gonna be home 😜.

During covid i had time again to travel back east to fish the womens tour, first tourney since the 90's, the event was at Hartwell, it had sprinkled on us the night before and i had the cover off prepping rods, first tournament morning lowered trolling motor and nothing worked, my control board in the ultrex was fried, tried drift fishing all day but that was futile! The days of having a second trolling motor with you are gone with the cost of everything now! Luckily there is an awesome minn kota service center at Hartwell that had the board and fixed me up for the next days fishing!

50 years of experience when it's windy and muddy in spring I work up and down the same bank shallow slow rolling a s o inner bait and then a heavy dropshot with a flashy 6 inch baby bluegill roboworm and thena sink the same color beleave me it works its a clear worm but very flashy like a disco ball WI d blown banks are best work slow with lo.ts of vibration have caught 35+ lb limits this way

@@Garminrulesyou don't see as many of them because they were discontinued. The ones you DO see on older rigs are still turning bass heads today. I've had four OMC cable-steer TMs and NEVER had to replace one.

gotta tell you dude, those aren't 2 footers where you're starting. so i think your 4 footer estimate is probably way off too. the waves are dying out as they blow into the shallow water there and when you panned out into the wind and deeper water those waves were a foot of less. when you caught your 2 pounder those waves were 6 inches or less. i've spent most of my recent fishing years on lake erie and on a 20 mph breeze and in open water the waves are predictably in the 3 - 4 feet range and usually very fishable. many times we've been fishing and the wind comes up, but if were on the fish even 30mph and 4-5 footers we'll stay out. where you caught the little ones, that was 1 foot or less, nothing to complain about.
Yeah I was over exaggerating on the 2 footers but the main lake did have some serious waves. And those waves up north are much more manageable to fish in. I’ve fished in some pretty big waves on Champlain and the STL River

@@muskietime by being dedicated and putting literally everything in unless you got a family with the money backing you up all ik is I see the boys I was in high school tournament now trying to go pro and going pro cause there family had money to pay for them to get it me on the other had fishing bass nation tournaments where one person every year gets that chance to go pro and you got to be the pro that one it the year before as well it’s not easy when your doing it yourself when you got the family company behind you it’s a lot easier

My baot has been oarked for almost 2 years because of a demolished trolling motor on KY lake. Can't afford to throw down a few grand when groceries are costing me as much as they are for a family of 4!

He told the guy to throw at that bush because that’s where he got bit then they talked about leaving it vs sharing it. No harm, no foul. Especially in that kind of make or break of a league you share with people. Info, areas, baits, and sometimes spots. It’s not what it was before and even to compare it as such from someone that does vs does it for a living are two completely different circumstances. I marshal the Elites a lot and it’s just how it is because they know your career depends on it just like theirs and helping one another every now and then, especially when somebody is having it rough, could in turn save you when you’re not doing good. As for the screen watcher comment, that’s where I give up with the politeness much past “if you don’t like it then don’t watch it” but honestly just cry harder. Every new technology has been the “end of bass fishing as we know it”. 🙄

I used to think that way, I have a 40hp outboard on my boat. It’s like me crying that you have a 300hp. If it’s legal you gotta have it to be competitive.

Yes, it did suck. I hope PP warrantied it. Plan is going for one next season. Fortrex is a great Dinosaur but I like the weight and size of the expensive one.@@ChristianGreico
