you guys got some nice sized blues that day. the ones i get are a little smaller. but im only really fishing a few feet off shore on any cover that i can see. the lake here does get deep here fast though. so im getting em between 1-6feet of water. even if its a little bit bigger then hand rock sometimes there is a hand sized bluegill/redear holding near it. the bad thing about my way though is usually there is only a couple near the cover. so best to keep moving so dont catch the same one over and over.
i use size 8 gamakatsu circle hooks with barb pinched down or off i like to catch and release so barb off makes for super easy release. and the circle hook allows me to still put small piece of nightcrawler on hook without falling off. any hook smaller then 8 is good though like 10 or 12. sometimes i use the long shank ones too to make releasing them easier. some small hooks they swallow so for fishing for em for a couple months every night for a couple hours i like the size 8 gamakatsu circles the best.
I found drop shotting bluegill works well im lakes or ponds where the water clarity is poor. Don't move your bait too much when its hot or cold out. Once you find a bed dont drop right on it or you'll spook em. Stay to the sides.
YOU EXPECT A REPLY IT'S ONLY BEEN 8 YRS. LOL YOU SEE HOW MUCH THEY CARE ABOUT US. THEY FISH LAKES MOST OF THE TIME NO COTTAGES NO FISHERMEN. MY 6 YR OLD CAN CATCH FISH THERE.
Carter Courtemanche They will definitely bite scented worms and plastics, and they will peck at hard baits of all sizes. I catch them all the time on small crankbaits and poppers (highly recommend the Rebel Grasshopper Popper, also he Storm Hopper Popper, except it often hooks bigger bluegills deeply), and have even foul-hooked the odd bluegill on lures as big as a Zara Spook. Bluegills can be quite aggressive. They have a voracious appetite, and like many species, they will harass other fish that are sick or dying.
You guys make it look so easy on camera.
Thank you fishing is cool.😃
Nice bluegill.
Shore fish a public lake less than 10 acres. No boat or technology. Only then will I be impressed!

dropshotting is a technique used mostly for bass but you have a hook then the weight(like a bell sinker) tied beneath it.
You need to spend thousands to fool bluegill? You have my pity!
What style and size of hooks do you use for drop shotting for bluegill?

How can you find bluegills in open water on graph?

Can you show how you rig up
I've caught bluegill on 6-8 inch worms while bass fishing, they will eat just about anything they can

I would be eating all that I caught.
catch an mutilate !
Then pretty soon the big fish are gone. Keep the smaller 8 in fish and always throwback the big males.
