Back in 2010 or so he cooked in his kitchen on the health channel (not sure if that's what it was called). It's cool seeing then, to this video, to now!
This just popped up after watching Sam for the past few years. I've went back & watched some of his early indoor shows, but this early outdoor show seems so tame now. lol. No swearing & he's even being nice to MAX! Too Funny!
Thanks for posting this. I just used this recipe to great success. I couldn’t find challah bread so I used a French Brioche; luckily they’re similar. The French toast turned out great! I didn’t even need to use syrup. For a little extra kick, instead of PBJ you can crush up a banana with a fork instead. Another recipe to my arsenal. Thanks again, Sam
I can't believe this came up. I been following you for a few years, and I just did a search of a basic thing I love to eat. Can't wait to watch this video!!
You make this so different than I do. I just make the French toast first, then use the pbj like a sandwich and sprinkle with powder sugar and syrup on top.. I'm gonna try it this way next time. Ps after all these years your neighbors are still getting in your vids and the quality of videos you make has aged like fine wine. I love you guys and your content!!
A no b.s type of video as always. I have become a really big fan of yours during the last month. Watch all your videos and absolutely enjoy cooking for friends. Keep it rolling!!
French toast (which in French says « pain perdu », which stands for « lost bread ») is made from old bread (baguette e.g.) or brioche, which has become too dry & hard for regular use, hence « lost ». The milk+egg is thus more easily absorbed, and it should be let soaking for a while. After pan cooking, only powder sugar (possibly including some vanilla sugar) is added. Believe me, no peanut butter nor jelly is necessary to make it taste tremendous !!
Looks good. Even though there is the jam in this, trying to usual "sugar and vanilla extract" would be a go for this recipe too. And...some butter with warm pure maple syrup. Remember, each element needs its own "seasoning" and in this case, the egg wash here missed out on that.
literally just got finished making this 2 am in the morning and to be honest its mehhhh for my taste buds but its not bad i can see how some people like it but it wasnt nothing mind blowing for me but love the video i'll most definitley will be back to keep trying more recipes
I made this today!!!!! (Too late to the party I know lol) I used homemade strawberry jam and instead of PB I used Tahini, which is more common here in Greece. It was awesome!!!! And you're so right - DON'T skimp on the filling!!!! (and the sugar in the egg/milk mixture I might add)
Oh and it was my first time making it ofc so next time I might add cinnamon (I think it'll go well with the strawberry and the Tahini) and less butter because it went kinda soggy :P
Might be a cool angle to mount an over head camera down at the evo or the grill that way your work space doesn’t get over crowded, and max can just edit it in. Nice video guys!
Lobster, eggs Benedict - Had that many years ago while on exercise in San Diego at a place called World Famous. Please make this my man, it’s a smile on a plate 👌
In Milwaukee we would make our PB sandwiches with mayo and bacon (and/or bananas). Or when camping PB&J w/ summer sausage. To douse it all in egg and brown on a griddle...truly Midwest heaven. Luv the rifs on just plain good classics.
@@mommaofthree2040 . It is probably something we dared on another to try one day as kids. We were out of bologna to have with our bread and mayo. PB on hand. Who dares? PB on banana...a cinch. Add mayo...a dare. Esp. with crunchy style PB. We were three sibs at the time. Perhaps yours have tried when you weren't looking?! I don't indulge any of it now. Just in my gastro-memory. Almond Butter these days, and honey, on GF bread. Sigh.
Sam the Man So Simple but yet Supa Dupa I love recipes like this when I make grilled p&j I butter the breads n grill I’ll definitely do it this way next time thanks for sharing....🍞🥐🥖🍇🍓🍞
Sam, what an awesome idea! I know a certain two year old and his mama who would absolutely dig on this. Thanks. P.s I wouldn't be able to make this too much though, lol. Thank you nonetheless.
Your French Toast looks Great! I Love Hallah Bread!--so soft and delicious! I prefer Blueberry Preserves to go along with the Almond or whichever Butter...
where do you get your recipes? You need to open a restaurant ive never eaten these foods before because its so unique and id pay to try your entire menum
This didn't seem appealing to me but I tried it thinking my kids would atleast like it but I have to admit I thought it was really really good thanks sam
i love your outdoor cooking area/kitchen wow its gorgeous ,that stove, amazing,i wish i had one,im lucky i have just a regular stove in my tiny crazy little kitchen, but i love your recipes and you make me laugh,so thats all i need thanks sam
Hi all this is named "pain perdu" (lost bread) in france. Why lost bread, because we do that with old bread to avoid throwing it. Thx for this vidéo :)
@@silent_amy I love regular Cap 'N Crunch, but I don't like the peanut butter kind. I love Reese's peanut butter cups. They have a Reese's peanut butter cups cereal. It was horrible!
Both Max and Sam have really spent time analyzing how to improve and it shows. The quality between this video and their recents is insane. Love the channel guys!! Thanks! PS - got my signed book for Christmas and the Knife! Love it!!!
The fact how his videos have improved is amazing from this being 2015 to his recents 👌
Xiandrox funny part is this the style of filming they televised, when he had his show. On the Padres channel
Back in 2010 or so he cooked in his kitchen on the health channel (not sure if that's what it was called). It's cool seeing then, to this video, to now!
I worked at a Country Club where they use Challah bread to make their French toast, the best French toasts ever. The bread is so dense and soft.
I’ve gained 6 pounds since I’ve discovered this channel. Thanks Sam..
Me too and just from watching
gainz bruh gainz! haha!
If you lift while eating badly its called "bulking up".
Only 6?
Huh not surprised. It worst for me I’m
Lockdown and eating especially this pb and j French toast every morning hahahaha

I only watch this cooking channel.
Great food, great personality.

You chef, are the Merlin to my Arthur.

Well I know what’s for breakfast in my house tomorrow. So glad I recently found this channel. Making the honey garlic spare ribs for supper currently!
Make the whole chicken! It's so easy and delicious everytime. I even make my own stock now, sams the man!
Wow!! This looks super good! I'm a peanut butter fan so this was a very magical experience for me lol. Trying this later on today.

I always liked the similarities between Frech Toast & Grilled Cheese
I like thicc, thicc
Thicc is good
Yeah i like it as well
Lol yeah
are we still talking about bread? haha!
I like how you like to experiment with different kinds of flavors and other foods. Really good stuff!

The best nut butter I've ever had is legit Hazelnut butter from the region of Izmir in Turkey, addictive to say the least
The best nut butter you've had is my nut butter.
Was looking for something new this morning for breakfast and was so glad to find this. Try it with a dark chocolate drizzle too.
Dude I live by myself and you always do simple delicious meals that I get ideas from. Saludos from Mexico. Im subscribing now
I've done this with bacon, raspberry and swiss! Oh my is it amazing. I wonder if peanut butter would take it to another level???
Peanut butter on one side, flip it over and jam on the other. Goes on way smoother.
Looks good. Even though there is the jam in this, trying to usual "sugar and vanilla extract" would be a go for this recipe too. And...some butter with warm pure maple syrup. Remember, each element needs its own "seasoning" and in this case, the egg wash here missed out on that.

Oh Wow!! That outside stove-top is so cool!! I wish I had a backyard to have one!!
Two of my favorite things together. Gotta try this one.

Always yes to French toast. How’s about a classic Monte Christo. My all time favorite sammy I’m sure you would kill it.

Totally enjoyed this first week outside using your new things.
9:35 when its so good you dont know where to take the second bite
jus barely found this recipe now and I can confirm it tastes gr8
May I recommend using ghee on the evo it doesn't brown like butter bit you get the taste of using grass fed butter anyway
Made this. Was delicious. 2nd time cooking
That looks amazing 🙏 I'm going to try it thank you
If you used regular sliced bread, would you take one slice of bread and split that in half doing to same process?
Looks so delicious. What if afterwards u battered it up and deep fried it, would that be too ridiculous?
Might be a cool angle to mount an over head camera down at the evo or the grill that way your work space doesn’t get over crowded, and max can just edit it in. Nice video guys!
Using the back of a spoon to get the peanut butter...... genius
Use a fork , you can thank me later
I like your new more laid back and professional vs. frenetic and profane approach. Keep it up.
Dude just made this for dinner and the fam tripped out. Lol. Soooo good. Thanks

Great PB&J French Toast. Made it for brunch. Big hit!
That’s a high food for sure
Just made this with nasty gluten free bread (all gluten free bread is somewhat nasty), made it taste JUST FINE:D

PB and banana is awesome too!!!!

in switzerland we call this bread Züpfe
i'm a big fan of the PB&J. i always have creamy and chunky PB and like 3 kinds of jelly lol.
So imma just take an uncrustable and make it into french toast
That actually sounds like a damn good idea hope it went well

I love his EVO.
Definitely making this for my husband
Those EVO grills are $3,995.00 plus tax so I bought a 36" Blackstone flat top for my outdoor kitchen for around $300.00.
I think Im trying this one!

How was it?
Sam , I don't like jelly .instead can I use a chocolate peanut butter or chocolate chips mixed with pecans & peanut butter ? How about Texas Toast ?
