    Sheabutter has a pretty high amount of nonsaponifiable lipids, but sheabutter is saponifiable to the most part and makes a very gentle soap.

      Agree, I've made only a Shea butter bar before, It does saponify.

    As a fellow soap maker, it's a good idea for you to wear protective eye wear when handling Lye, being caustic Soda based, it's very dangerous if you happen to get it in your eyes, not a good thing to show others on youtube a lack of basic PPE.

    Great video, thank you. I wonder how is it that your olive oil soap is ready for use after only 30 days, and not months to a year like I've seen in other tutorials. Is it the shea butter in it?

    Shea butter does saponify. Please check your information before including it in a video for all to see.

    Shea butter does saponify .. and one needs to practice safety while working with lye solution... Gloves n goggles would be a good start.

    1, Shea butter does saponify. 2. You are working with lye and protection should always be used. Gloves and goggles. Safety first.

    "Food grade lye. And it's very caustic" !!!!!!
    what exactly is the meaning of "food grade lye" ?!

    • @bobobibi7026
      @bobobibi7026 2 года назад

      It means it can be used for cleaning food related equipment. Many beer brewers use it for cleaning equipment.

    One shouldn’t say flavor when you are referring to how it smells, not how it tastes. Just a pet peeve of mine.
