If the battery dies in 6 months, that's $3k down the drain. And what do you mean by "missing out"? AFAIK, Surface is the ONLY brand in market with a glued-on battery, literally every other laptop in existence has a user-replaceable internal battery.

Hi Matthew, what high quality laptop models do you recommend for high school children aged 14-16? You think it’s best to go for MacBook Air M2 or Windows laptop (which model)?
For any sort of gaming, Apple is a no-go. For any program that is older/more niche, Apple is a no-go. How much longevity do you want, so the kids won't have to swap out their laptop once teacher asks them to use a specific program?
I honestly felt like they should have went with an AMD U series processor or even P series Intel for better performance so that more could go to the GPU. It was so close to what Acer accomplished with its Concept Ezel series, but comes up a bit short
Yup, too expensive for the regular consumer, which is always how I've felt for MS products. Now with the M3 release, it's even less tempting, both for the MacBook crowd and for Windows users tired of hearing about the significant advantages of using Apple silicon--and I'm using a Dell XPS 9530! Pass, again.
How can you compare performance of a 14 inch laptop with 16 inch laptops? 16 inch laptops have more space which gives them a better cooling system, hence allowing to use higher watt chips.
This is just, wow. I think Microsoft understands it is not competing with anyone, just like Apple understands that. Microsoft is delivering an incomparable product. But that price for an IPS display that maxes at 500 nits even for HDR content, AND it doesn't cover 100 percent of the P3 color gamut? That is unforgivable. I feel like anyone who is interested in this is wanting, or in many cases needing, a mini LED display with a greater color gamut. And c'mon, there's no comparison to the MBP 14. Like I said, Microsoft knows it can't deliver a product that good for that price (Microsoft just doesn't make enough of the components inside nor can it buy it at the scale of some other Windows OEMs). BUT, at the same time, and dare i say even if it cost the consumer a bit more, this machine NEEDS a better display to attract the ever so small segment of the market that would be interested in it.
Not only that, but the response time is so bad on the screen that you have very noticeable ghosting on text and images when scrolling on webpages or down a vs code file...
what high quality laptop models do you recommend for high school children aged 14-17? You think it’s best to go for MacBook Air M2 or Windows laptop (which model)?
If you put this laptops screen in viewing/gaming modes(placing the screen before the trackpad) it won’t thermal throttle and run full 100watts p.s use a game controller or wireless keyboard to enhance perf and gaming. Less throttling.
@@PlazDreamweaver eating 4K 10 bit RAW video and most importantly my time matters the most. No lag and fast rendering. I have zero regrets. Worth the investment
I feel like the hang up with these reviews are either comparing it to a Laptop, when this is a 2-in-1, or comparing it to low end 2-in-1s, and I don't mind spending the extra money. I am looking at powerful 2-in-1s, high end 2-in-1s, and this seems more worth it for that, even if I'm not sure there are more powerful 2-in-1 options out there (Because everyone is either trying to review these in comparison to laptops or gaming laptops, or cheaper 2-in-1 devices that don't even have a dedicated GPU and push 16GB of RAM on 1/2TB hard drives). I just found out the other day about HP's $5,000 foldable Specter, and Lenovo's and ASEUS's more high end $2.5kish 2-in-1 laptops, but all those still use onboard graphics (Don't get me wrong, Onboard graphics can get amazing these days, but from looking them up, they ain't it). So I'm just assuming this is the one for now if I'm looking for a quick mobile workstation that can complement my powerful desktop workstation? Basically I want it to be able to run a few games like Planet Zoo and Spider-Man 2, the Sims, as well as Photoshop and illustrator, while also still being able to run stuff like basic UE5 editor or Maya all on the go, without crumbling into dust.
I mean there's def the potential for this type of laptops, however trying to be jack of all trades but master of none doesn't really cut it. Having a MBP14 inch + ipad is close if not lower in price...
I'm torn between the Laptop Studio 2 and the Asus ROG X16 Flow. The Asus has better specs for cheaper, but not sure how the drawing on the screen compares, which will be the main use.
one looks and feels like a premium device, the other looks like a cheap 200$ enterprise device. anyway go surface pro not studio if you dont mind the GPU
Key difference is in the stylus. X16 uses MPP 2.0 and SLS2 uses MPP 3.0, which is roughly 8 years ahead of the older version. If your main purpose is "drawing" and not handwriting on screen, that difference is worth the extra price.
Problem is that basically you are paying about $2k for "Design and features". It's about too much, as you can get a "good laptop" and a premium table for that amount of money. Sure, it's a good product, but it's more on the "luxury side" than on the high spec/features side. On the other hand, if money is not a factor, cool go for the highest spec model, $3600 USD.
the design could be better if they put another hinge in the back, like surface pros or they could just put one hinge in the back of original surface book. I have a surface book and still love it but the price for entry level of the surface is as much as yoga book 9i which offers another level of productivity by two screen with pen (although I prefer to use my slim pen). Even foldable x1 fold 16 inch is CHEAPER than most of the configuration in the surface. I think comparing with MacBook is not fair as it doesn't have touch and pen that are big issues for productivity and cannot be ignored!
The Surface Pro was MS effort to push Windows tablets, and Samsung and others followed the lead, and it was an utter fail, and relative to sales, no longer anything other than a niche sector. Then comes this Laptop Studio and rightly, Windows OEMs were hesitant, and were correct. This is again a product that has very limited demand and def is not the future of creator laptop/tablet hybrids. The obvious elephant in the room is that a tablet should be as light and portable as it can possibly be for mobile tablet usage. This is too heavy. I still think that a thinner and lighter laptop complimented by an Android/iOS tablet would be more professional in efficiency and productivity.
You can easily get an M2 Macbook air and a mid spec gaming laptop for the price of this. This laptop is trying way too hard to be an All in One, but then not giving you the performance for an All in One.
3:03 I completely disagree with you that a haptic touchpad is inherently better than a good traditional glass touchpad. Imo, only Microsoft and Apple have mastered good haptic touchpads. Dell's & Lenovo's are pretty terrible.
Obviously I'm referring to good haptic touchpads. MacBook Pro & MS Surface Laptop Studio being the gold standard. Also, Lenovo's Z series laptops have great haptic touchpads as well.
@MatthewMoniz I wouldn't like the front buttons on the Thinkpad Z series being haptic. And I haven't heard anybody liking the Z series touchpads other than you. Granted, I've tried a lot of laptops (not as many as you have obviously), but Apple really does have great haptic touchpads, and have had them since 2015.
Surface laptop studio 2: worse spec and more expensive compare to Macbook Pro (The selling point of this laptop is the use of the display) Why don't you compare it to m2 pro 14"?
Don't you think that saying such things like "weird design" is very subjective, when you're making a review. I have watched a lots of reviews on Microsoft Surface Studio 2, but there is no reviews which help me to decide between GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 2000 Ada GPU onboard, is it really good for modeling in Revit and rendering? How critical this difference is? Why configuration with RTX 2000 Ada doesn't have 64 GB RAM, only RTX 4060 has? Are those missing 32 GB of RAM being compensated by RTX 2000 Ada performance? But everyone in their reviews keeps just repeating all the things you can read on Microsoft Store Website by yourself, about unique formfactor, or keep adding some very unnecessary subjective points of view. No, I like the review, but it's already tenth review I'm watching, and they are almost the same. I need more Infos and Details XD XD XD!

Key Considerations: Processor: The Zephyrus G-16 features the i7-13620H, while the Strix G614 has the i7-13650HX. Both are powerful, but the HX variant offers slightly better performance. RAM: The Zephyrus has DDR4 RAM, while the Strix G614 boasts faster DDR5 RAM. Display: Both laptops have the same 165Hz WUXGA display, providing smooth visuals. Storage: Both offer a 512GB PCIe NVME SSD. Graphics: Identical Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPUs with 8GB DDR6. Price: The Zephyrus is priced at $1790, while the Strix G614 costs $1686. Verdict: If you prioritize slightly better CPU performance, go for the ASUS ROG Strix G614. If you prefer faster RAM and are comfortable with the slightly higher price, the Zephyrus GU603 G-16 is a solid choice.

How was it? ( Don't want to give negative vibes, but heard the hinges of 2in1 convertables in general are easy to wear out).
The screen is not detachable. So any risk for getting hot air when holding and watching movies?
reviewers get 16gb/32gb ram model so evrything is ok. if these are almost double the price of base models. Before 4gb and now 8gb base models are straight up unusable. U can only run 1 app or 1 tab at a time before u lose smoothness.
These glasses really fit you, mate
Thanks! I appreciate it
Laptops which are non upgradeable are already a no in my book
Great, carry your desktop everywhere with you
@@jiajunsun3845 what an ignorant response. You know laptops with SSD, battery, Ram replacements exist right ?
You are limiting your choice and missing out on some great devices for the sake of upgradeability. Although that is your perogative, it is not something I would even think about doing.
If the battery dies in 6 months, that's $3k down the drain. And what do you mean by "missing out"? AFAIK, Surface is the ONLY brand in market with a glued-on battery, literally every other laptop in existence has a user-replaceable internal battery.
Yep, took less than a minute to mention Apple. Of course.
I miss the iconic Book series
Damn, the battery life is pretty good, the only obstacle for this laptop is the price hahaha 😂
Ya its very expensive. You're definitely paying a Microsoft tax on this one. A lot of other laptops for that price with good build quality and more performance.
@@MatthewMoniz yes it's really a shame, with that kind of specs and form factor, this thing is perfect for digital artist or even comic artist who usually do 3d modelling for background etc
I leant there's a settings you can turn off on this pc that gives it 30% boost.
It is also not optimised for note taking.Display is sub par at that price point should include a OLED or Mini LED with thinner bezels.
How can you compare performance of a 14 inch laptop with 16 inch laptops? 16 inch laptops have more space which gives them a better cooling system, hence allowing to use higher watt chips.
Thats why the gpu is not performing like "other" 4060 because they are in 16 inch laptops. Same thing applies to CPU performance.
Asus is delivering 2.8k oled 90hz 550 nits at like 1100. No shot MS is giving an IPS at 3200, which isnt even 100% p3
Asus rog flow x13 / z13
If you put this laptops screen in viewing/gaming modes(placing the screen before the trackpad) it won’t thermal throttle and run full 100watts p.s use a game controller or wireless keyboard to enhance perf and gaming. Less throttling.
This guy.. everytime he brought something up he always respond with "but the macbook does it better"...
I bought this 2 days ago… I think I’m returning it for the macbook book pro with 128gb ram
Why do you need 128gbs of RAM? It's not like the M2 is doing any 3D design, game development, or anything else that needs 128gbs of RAM.
@@PlazDreamweaver eating 4K 10 bit RAW video and most importantly my time matters the most. No lag and fast rendering. I have zero regrets. Worth the investment
The Micro SD card slot is hilarious 😂
@@asdjesdsd Which is which in your opinion? Also the surface pro isn't powerful enough for what I need it for, unfortunately.
Key difference is in the stylus. X16 uses MPP 2.0 and SLS2 uses MPP 3.0, which is roughly 8 years ahead of the older version.
If your main purpose is "drawing" and not handwriting on screen, that difference is worth the extra price.
Can you imagine this but with a 100Wh battery and the best mobile AMD CPU+iGPU? One can dream.
Like the way that round the corner inside like smartphone
the design could be better if they put another hinge in the back, like surface pros or they could just put one hinge in the back of original surface book.
3:31 are you saying the larger 16 sounds worse than the 14?
I know this is not a gaming oriented laptop but there are cheaper options with more powerful gpu’s.
absolutely
I don’t see the “” keys, how do developers type those without that key beside the “z” key?
This is the Ballmer effect... worst product-value combination..
I still think that a thinner and lighter laptop complimented by an Android/iOS tablet would be more professional in efficiency and productivity.
does it not have ghosting?
@@cameronbosch1213 agree. Most hate the haptic touchpad. Worse
I would call it perfect if it had at least a 4080 option.
Surface laptop studio 2: worse spec and more expensive compare to Macbook Pro (The selling point of this laptop is the use of the display)
Why don't you compare it to m2 pro 14"?
When best desk setups video will come?

I need more Infos and Details XD XD XD!
my laptop with a 4060 being 1400usd, and with a higher res oled
How does it work when you program such as in Java or python?
Hii sir can you please help in between the two laptops which one I should buy:
*Asus Zephyrus Gu603 G-16*
Intel *13th Gen Core i7-13620H*
*16" 1920x1200 165Hz WUXGA* display
*16GB RAM*
*512GB PCIe 4.0 NVME SSD*
Nvidia GeForce *RTX 4060 w/ 8GB DDR6*
Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.2
Backlit keyboard
Windows 11 home
Rs. 499,000pkr/-
USD: $1790
OR
*ASUS ROG Strix G614* 2023 edition
Intel *13th Gen Core i7-13650HX*
*16" 1920x1200 165Hz WUXGA* display
*16GB DDR5 RAM*
*512GB PCIe 4.0 NVME SSD*
Nvidia GeForce *RTX 4060 w/ 8GB DDR6*
Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.2
Backlit keyboard
Windows 11 home
Rs. 469,000pkr/-
USD: $1686
Key Considerations:
Processor: The Zephyrus G-16 features the i7-13620H, while the Strix G614 has the i7-13650HX.
Verdict:
If you prioritize slightly better CPU performance, go for the ASUS ROG Strix G614.
If you prefer faster RAM and are comfortable with the slightly higher price, the Zephyrus GU603 G-16 is a solid choice.
Nobody here totally annoyed by the constant hot air blowing at your mouse hand at 6% Processor performance? Getting hot like hell from start? Electrostatic touch issues while connected to power source, which you need because the battery is definitely not lasting ten hours. Got it for 1400€ (49% off) but sending it back immediately....
I feel like they had to remove the usb type A for a HDMI port
Poor battery life and poor screen response.. I ended buying a Laptop 5 with 1000 euro discount during Black Friday, and I'll wait for Laptop Studio 3.
i think one of the item that most of the comments here agree on is: NOPE, no haptic touchpad PLEASE
LOL what!? Haptic touchpads when done right are wayyy better than a glass touchpad
Microsoft always behind.
Basically this whole video is about MacBook, if people wanted an apple product they would have just gotten an apple product. Alteast compare it to another windows laptop product. The are more MacBook lines than the surface laptop
Its compared to a MacBook because its in the same price range I also show tons of comparisons in the performance section to other laptops.
I just hope Microsoft continues to make hardware but it’s hard to trust them when they killed off so many of their hardwares. I really want a windows laptop that is Apple like and can game. I am getting older and I’m tired of all the gaming laptops out there with RGB, it’s not sophisticated, even the Razer line, just looks too kiddy for me.
For the price it should go up to 4070 Mini LED.
For that kinda price I mean... there's sooooooooo much better 😮
If you cant beat em, join em. thing looks exactly like a Macbook.
I dont think it looks like a MacBook but its definitely trying to compete with them
Lol what macbooks have you been looking at. The only slight similarity is that it's silver.
Without the Ugly Notch 😂
I am the only one who hates haptic touchpad, i just like touchpad because i dont click i just tap with two fingers or one fingers.... Dont like the button press feel on a touchpad
Everybody who tries to rely on a Microsoft product, has deserved the inevitable disappointment.

it's really the GPU at that price point. You can get other nice high end laptops for $1000 less with better GPUs and even CPUs in a 14" form factor.
The 13th gen are just about to be superceded so there are some good deals out there. It is hard to pay that for something that will be surpassed by the next-gen i7, which is reportedly a massive upgrade.
