Another great video! I love your quick videos but these in-depth ones are even better - full of so much info, tips & tricks. You are so likable too; easy to listen to and watch. Keep up the great work! Oh and I like that you used a take on the Pantone 2016 color (s). 😃
I like your "how to" videos! The thing I don't like about using white polish as a base color is that when you clean around your nails with the brush, sometimes the colors fade and you can see the white on the borders, idk if I made myself clear? But what you said about using the lightest color of a gradient is really helpful! Thumbs up!
Love these types of videos. I mentioned this before but I'd love to see a water decal 101 type of vodeo. I'm still trying to figure out if water decals and nail stickers are the same or can be used the same way. 😩
Thanks Kelli. My nails are short and 3 color gradients just were not going well. For some odd reason I thought a gradient had to be 3 colors otherwise not a gradient. Thanks for the great, helpful video. I can now try gradients again.
Throwback Thursday ^^ I could rewatch your videos forever tbh ^^ Back when liquid latex was still new haha, how times have changed It's strange to see your hair be just one colour 😁
I’ve never done this technique and I’m excited to try. Stupid question about the sponges: can they be reused? I’m thinking that I can have several color combos on different sponges and then reapply polish?
Unfortunately once the polish dries onto the sponge it won't be useable anymore! But with these wedge sponges I usually can get 4 different manicures out of them, two on each side using different gradients - other people just cut off the used portion!
Thanks for this video hun, for some reason I can't quite grasp the gradient nail manicure, I'm going to try again after watching this, you make it look so easy lol xxx
Do you just place the sponge straight down on the nail, like you don't start at the side and kinda roll across? For some reason this is how I've been doing mine lol. I am gonna try like you did. I would love to see a how to on the dry brush technique, I can never get mine quite right lol
I definitely would recommend that you check out liquid latex on Amazon. The 4oz tub is $10 and it works sooooo good!! You get more bang for your buck. Loved the tutorial. Thanks for the tips!!
You should totally try Simply Peel! I find it works the BEST when trying out latex "protectors"! It is kind of pricy but I LOVE it! It drys in 3 minutes!
Yes, I have Simply Peel as well - you can see me using it in my previous videos, and I even did a comparison with it and another latex brand. This new brand I am trying dries quicker and is easier to apply, so I am seeing if I like it better ;)
So, question about doing gradients, and maybe I need to watch the video again, but... do you let the polish dry before re-sponging? Does that question even make sense? I am still learning to do gradients, but it seems when I apply a 2nd or 3rd coat too soon, it pulls the polish off... what am I doing wrong? Thanks! Love ALL your videos.
+Gina Tiernan hey Gina! I actually did a more in depth video about gradients - it's in my Nail Polish 101 playlist - I think it gives a LOT more specifics about how to do it!
Are there any other options for cleaning up other than acetone? I'm not sure I want to use that on my daughter's skin, but the clean lines look awesome!
+Lizzie Mills hey Lizzie! I totally understand your hesitation to use acetone. You can use regular nail polish remover, or if you think her skin might be sensitive to that, you can just apply vaseline onto her cuticles and then wash it off once the gradient dries!
Love the Shirt! LOL!! I absolutely Love Gradient Nails. I was wondering if you have ever done a Gradient nail with out a base color? Just using the base coat & then the Gradient??? Would love to see if that is possible!!!
Hi Kelli Marissa, I love the nail polish storage shelf you have behind you here, the 360-degree tower. Did you build it yourself or can you purchase it somewhere??? :)
+Ditte Sørensen I don't dampen my sponge because I find that makes the design look a bit spotty :) But I'm glad you found a trick that works for you!! Thanks for watching
Haha omg twins!! Thanks so much Kelli! I used to use sinful colors but I found that it had a really strong smell which I didn't love. I'm not sure if it's 3-free!
Haha oh gosh thanks Jen! It's actually a blend of a bunch of colors - I have a lot of fun playing with my eyeshadow. It's a mix of colors from the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca remix palette and the Morphe 35W palette!
Hi Kelli. I am okay at this look. But, I put my base coat on before and top coat on afterwards but there is a prickly look (it feels prickly too) what do u do?
+HeyItzMorgan I think you might be getting bits of sponge on your nails! You should use more polish on the sponge - more than you think you need! That way, it'll be wet enough that it won't come off on your nails and leave those prickly spots :)
+Addy Padilla for the gradient, I usually don't wait long. By the time I finish my last nail and reapply the polish onto the sponge, the first nail is ready to go again! :) since it's such a thin layer it'll dry really quickly.
Great video! For me the best polishes to do a gradient with are opaque holos. Like A-England ones. They literally do all job for you and the result is stunning all the time.
Do I need to let the dabbed polish dry before dabbing the next coat? My spong always picks up the old polish, so I can see my natural nail again at one edge! (Yes even the base colour is gone!)
+MissTrevelyan yes, let the sponged on polish dry - but then reapply the polish to the sponge until it's wet with polish! That way, you won't wipe off the polish that's already on your nail! (And don't press down too hard!)
Hi Kelli,I saw a video in the past, not yours, and she dipped the sponge in water, but you didn't,do you know why she did that? I rather not dip in water too much mess.I prefer the way you do it.❤️
+Yvette Kirkland hi Yvette! It sounds like you didn't put enough polish on your sponge - it has to be completely saturated for each coat of the gradient, so it doesn't dry out and stick to your nails!
Is red your favourite colour? I just noticed you seem to wear red a lot and reddish looking eyeshadow, which you definitely pull off and I'm jealous because it's not an easy color to wear on the lid. 😭
The first few minutes of the video is an in-depth explanation of why I am taking the steps I do for the "real video", so I would suggest watching the entire thing if you are a beginner!
I Love You Kelli..Your always and will be the person I watch for great nail designs and nail advice❤️❤️💅🏼
That comment means so much to me.. Thank you Leslie :)
Another great video! I love your quick videos but these in-depth ones are even better - full of so much info, tips & tricks. You are so likable too; easy to listen to and watch. Keep up the great work! Oh and I like that you used a take on the Pantone 2016 color (s). 😃
Thank you so much for your kind words! And oh man I didn't even notice I used the 2016 color scheme hahaha! Maybe it was subconscious hehe ;)
who else just spent the first part of the video staring at all of the nail polish's to the right?
Meh
Brenna SAME!
Yes
You are my favorite nail artist❤️😘😂❤️❤️
Thank you so so much!!!
Love it! I've tried so hard to do gradients, but I could never get the right concept. This video helps me so much! 💅❤️
Yay I'm so glad it was helpful Bree!!
This was so helpful! Loved the vid Kelli!

I use my nails short so your tutorials are very easy for me to do. Love your tutorials, beautiful desings!! 😄💅
Hi great video 👍 was wondering where you purchased your nail polish rack/holder?
+Detrick Reed thank you! Actually, my boyfriend made it from scratch for me :P
+Kelli Marissa ohhhhhh your nail art is good
I took your advice on using an elf concealer brush for cleanup and I LOVE it!
Yessss it's my favorite!!!!
sssoooo good
What do I do when I can't sleep? Watch your videos of course. Thank you Kelly! :)) Been catching up on gradients too.
I'm going to try this out today. I just love these tutorials.
Thanks for the video! It helped a lot! Love your videos, keep up the good work!❤️
I'm so glad I could help you!
+Kelli Marissa It helped me too. thank you
I like your "how to" videos! But what you said about using the lightest color of a gradient is really helpful! Thumbs up!
I know exactly what you mean! I hate when that happens. I try to be really careful with cleanup so it doesn't, haha!
soooooo helpful cause I suck at gradients also thanks for all of your great videos
Thanks so much Selena :)
This is beautiful. Did you ever do a plain white base with a pinky-red pinwheel at Christmas?
Awesome tutorial and obsessed with that gradient!
Thanks so much Claire :)
Love these types of videos. I mentioned this before but I'd love to see a water decal 101 type of vodeo. I'm still trying to figure out if water decals and nail stickers are the same or can be used the same way. 😩
This is so cool, I have been wanting to try this! Thanks so much Kelli :)
Happy to help Gayle! Best of luck to you :)
I haven't commented on your videos in ages but I love your videos keep it up your doing a great job Kelli ❤️
I'm so glad to hear from you, Ciara :) thank you!
Great video as always Kelli! Very helful!
So glad you enjoyed, Marisa!
Thanks Kelli. My nails are short and 3 color gradients just were not going well. For some odd reason I thought a gradient had to be 3 colors otherwise not a gradient. Thanks for the great, helpful video. I can now try gradients again.
Hi Carolyn! I'm so glad you found my video, then :) I do 2-color gradients all the time, and I love how they look!
Throwback Thursday ^^ I could rewatch your videos forever tbh ^^
Back when liquid latex was still new haha, how times have changed
It's strange to see your hair be just one colour 😁
Hahaha oh man the normal hair!
@@KelliMarissa thank you. I was thinking that cutting off the used part would be easier
Thanks for this video hun, for some reason I can't quite grasp the gradient nail manicure, I'm going to try again after watching this, you make it look so easy lol xxx
+Sharon West I'm so glad I could help, Sharon! If you need any extra pointers, I'm happy to give you more tips!!
Amazing! Loved it, thanks for the help, I am new to nails and you are amazing and I am really inspired!
+NailsByErin 05 I am so happy to hear that Erin!!! Thanks for watching!
Great video Kelli! Very helpful!
Great tutorial. Loveeeee your makeup
Do you just place the sponge straight down on the nail, like you don't start at the side and kinda roll across? For some reason this is how I've been doing mine lol. I am gonna try like you did. I would love to see a how to on the dry brush technique, I can never get mine quite right lol
+Gina Rose I do just plop it right down, haha! I think it's easier that way and keeps the polish from getting sticky :)
Yes! I have such a problem with it getting sticky, I'm gonna try your way next time lol
I definitely would recommend that you check out liquid latex on Amazon. The 4oz tub is $10 and it works sooooo good!! You get more bang for your buck.
Loved the tutorial. Thanks for the tips!!
Why do you have Baylee Jae's RUclips picture? Do you like her or something?? Not that there is anything wrong with that. I love her.
+Zoey Berrier I'm sorry, I don't know who Baylee Jae is :/ I've had this picture for 4 years now lol
syderena Oh! Well if you like art she draws and stuff and has a vlog channel. If you want, you should check her out!
+Zoey Berrier Ohhhh!! I do like art, thanks, I'll check her out :)
syderena :)

Kelli, where'd you get that AWESOME nail polish tower??!! I REALLY need one, lol.
+CatherineAnn923 my boyfriend actually built it for me, haha! Thank you!
Oh, awesome! You're lucky. My boyfriend's not handy at all, lol. But I love him anyway! LOL :-D
Are there any other options for cleaning up other than acetone? I'm not sure I want to use that on my daughter's skin, but the clean lines look awesome!

Hi Kelli Marissa, I love the nail polish storage shelf you have behind you here, the 360-degree tower. Did you build it yourself or can you purchase it somewhere??? :)
Marla Baker her boyfriend make it for her
Very helpful advice 😘
You can damp your sponge, so it dosen't soak up the polish that much👌💘
love your videos👍💕
+Ditte Sørensen I don't dampen my sponge because I find that makes the design look a bit spotty :) But I'm glad you found a trick that works for you!! Thanks for watching
woooow! that was reaally perfect.... i love it
+Mansukh Gajera :)

You are one of my favorite nail artists! I love your videos! We have the same name spelled the same! Have you ever tried Sinful Colors nail polish?
Haha omg twins!! Thanks so much Kelli! I used to use sinful colors but I found that it had a really strong smell which I didn't love. I'm not sure if it's 3-free!
DIY things you can use nailpolish for!
Hi!!! The sponge have to be wet before the nail polish? Or dry?

You deserve a million subscribers
+spoorthidutt tirumala you are so sweet!!
not more than you :D
do you have to let it dry in between coats before applying another layer?
+DEnise CHavez it actually dries pretty instantly, so you don't really need to wait :)
Thank you so much for this it helped me a lot keep on making these videos :)
+jmh luvs I'm glad I could help!! :)
Very important question! What shadow is on your eyes? I'm really loving it!
Haha oh gosh thanks Jen! It's actually a blend of a bunch of colors - I have a lot of fun playing with my eyeshadow. It's a mix of colors from the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca remix palette and the Morphe 35W palette!

hi I was wondering usually what type of brand of sponges do you use?
+Vanessa Claro I usually just buy drugstore brand - Walmart or CVS!
Kelli Marissa Thank you :)
THanks, this really helped
+Emmy glad you enjoyed Emmy!
Love it *.*
Thanks!!
Hello! How long do you wait between coats for your nails to dry?
+Addy Padilla for the gradient, I usually don't wait long. By the time I finish my last nail and reapply the polish onto the sponge, the first nail is ready to go again! :) since it's such a thin layer it'll dry really quickly.

+Sorchathorn Yes!! That works the best.
Gr8 video, thanks for the tips, xoxo
Is that opi new Orlands collection on the shelf???
Yes it is!! I did a haul video about it last week :) :)
How do you keep your cleanup brush clean?
+Peach Cooper once you dip it in acetone, all the polish is cleaned off of it :)

Hi Kelli,I saw a video in the past, not yours, and she dipped the sponge in water, but you didn't,do you know why she did that? I rather not dip in water too much mess.I prefer the way you do it.❤️
+Vanessa V I've heard that before actually! But it doesn't make much sense since polish isn't water soluble haha!
Does it use less polish
what if u don't have the sponge thing what can u use besides going to buy them?
+Tere Espinoza I'm not sure there is another tool you can use! But the sponges are very cheap :)
Can u water marble? If so can u do a video on it cos I can't do it!
+Rebecca Hodgson hey Rebecca! I can def do a video on watermarbling!
Kelli Marissa cool! Hope it's great as the rest of ur vids ;)
Can you do a French ombre tutorial?
Ooh I love that idea!
Kelli I just tried this and bits of the sponge stuck to my nails. My nails were perfectly dry. What did I do wrong?
+Yvette Kirkland hi Yvette! It sounds like you didn't put enough polish on your sponge - it has to be completely saturated for each coat of the gradient, so it doesn't dry out and stick to your nails!
+Kelli Marissa gotcha. I'm going to try it again. Thank you so much!!
can you try watermarble??? please it would be soo helpfull
+Mansukh Gajera hey, yes I will definitely be doing a watermarble video soon :) probably later this month!
Kelli Marissa Thanks:) i am waiting:)
Is red your favourite colour? I just noticed you seem to wear red a lot and reddish looking eyeshadow, which you definitely pull off and I'm jealous because it's not an easy color to wear on the lid. 😭
Lol. I just realized in my last 4 videos I wore red! I don't know how that happened hahaha! I do love wearing red eyeshadow though :) :)
i did your skittle nail art (the ying yang)
YAY! Thanks :))
+Running for sanity :)
awesome!! I saw that but I was doing my nails so I wasn't that focused😂😊
;)
You should tell us exactly where to start dabbing the sponge. 1/4 of nail then up?
Hey Traci, it depends on the length of your nail :)
This is nice. Went to a salon and got ombre....will never do that again. Expensive, and very difficult to remove.
Can you make a video how to paint nails with white and nude nail polish please
Sure!
your self on your nailsss😗😗😗
You are beautiful!!!!
I'm French so I don't understand but I love your video
thank you soooo much. You are a master. could u do a mickey mouse desighn next. I LOVE your videos
+Sarah Gaudet hehe thanks so much Sarah! I'll add it to the list!
Instaed of getting that liquid latex you can get a whole tub of liquid latex body paint cheaper than that
can you please try a gradient without a sponge vidio
other wise 👍
👍👍
:)
how to clean the Neil polish off the sponge
+Verona James great idea!!
new subscriber! ^-^
+x雅丽 welcome to my channel!! :) :)
Is a ombre and gradient the same? I can never work it out they look the same to me 😂
Haha yes they are! Ombre is just french for gradient 😁
Real video at 3:55
The first few minutes of the video is an in-depth explanation of why I am taking the steps I do for the "real video", so I would suggest watching the entire thing if you are a beginner!
😄
