    List was so spot on in terms of those that are near me in NY. Mutti and Cento I mixed together. And yeah Hunt's is so metal tasting.

    My honey swears by Tuttorosso brand canned tomatoes and Contadina tomato paste, which my mother used back in the 80s. Good enough for her, so I still purchase it. Just a matter of taste I guess.

    Cento, #1, for sure, but I'm surprised that Tuttorosso wasn't up there, Competitvely priced, both are lower than Hunt's or Del Monte.

    Giving Rotel a number 12 due to the lack of spicy heat is nonsense. You can buy Rotel, the "HOT" brand with real Habaneros peppers which has that spicy kick. Or you could just use good reasoning cooking skills, and add dry spicy seasoning to give it that kick. In my opinion, Rotel is a damn good brand. NOT number 1, but certainly NOT number 12, at least in my opinion. However the cook using it, just needs to use his or her tasting skills and add and take away spices and quantity as needed. In order to make a good meal. All I can ask is, am I wrong? If I am wrong to anyone who cares to read this. Then tell me why I am wrong. I would love to learn more from others.

    Saying cento is authentic San marzano 🍅😂😂 is a crime last time I saw cento they were getting sued over them saying they're authentic San marzano 🍅

    • @CraigCholar
      @CraigCholar Месяц назад

      TL;DR case was dismissed.
      Found this on Reddit:
      "The accusation is that Cento is misleading and defrauding customers because their San Marzano tomatoes are not properly certified, and do not meet the standards of San Marzano tomatoes. This, the plaintiff claims, amounts to fraud because the average San Marzano tomato purchaser would not buy Cento's tomatoes if they were not misled by the claims on the packaging.
      To support this, plaintiff says that Agri-Cert (the company which certifies Cento's tomatoes as being San Marzano) is not authorized to certify San Marzano tomatoes. He claims that only The Consortium of the San Marzano Tomato, PDO is authorized to do so. Therefore, he argues, the "certified" claim on the labeling is deceptive.
      Plaintiff presented no factual support for the claim that the Consortium is the only body that can certify San Marzano tomatoes, or that Agri-Cert cannot. The court found the claim that an average purchaser would expect the tomatoes to be certified specifically by the Consortium, rather than another organization, to be baseless.
      Also, the plaintiff mentions that tomatoes certified by the Consortium bear two seals. The court points out that Cento's tomatoes do not have these seals, so even informed customers would not be misled into believing the Consortium certified the product.
      Finally, the plaintiff claims Cento's San Marzano tomatoes do not meet the Consortium's standards for qualities like texture and number of seeds and are therefore not San Marzano tomatoes. However, the plaintiff could not establish that the Consortium's standards are the only acceptable standards.
      Since none of the plaintiff's claims could be backed up with evidence, the case is dismissed."

      I am pretty sure Cento has both certified San Marzano and the San Marzano "style", you have to read the label carefully to figure out which one you're getting. The real ones are obviously more expensive.

    What, what? Did you actually say " . . . don't often include sugar, which S&W add in the form of high fructose corn syrup."?? Do you actually not know HFCS is not sugar? That it's a chemical compound our bodies can't process? I would prefer sugar, but please get your facts right at least if you want to really say you don't want your tomatoes "sweetened."
