I tried the red Barilla, and it was so noticeably better, I switched --- even though it's a 50% price premium.
I use De Cecco. Tastes pretty good. Haven't seen any bronze extrusion stuff at Albertson's. Yet.
This was interesting and good to know. Like most cooks I focus on the sauce but the pasta really is the star of any pasta dish.
You didn't comment on ingredients. The reason I buy Barilla al bronzo is the ingredients listed on the box, "semolina (wheat)". That's it, nothing else. There is no niacin, no riboflavin, no folic acid, etc.
Love the videos!❤
Yeah, I didn't even notice Dececco isn't all bronze cut. The standard spaghetti is.
Just a small point as a New Yorker, Rao's is pronounced Ray- os, like the East Harlem restaurant pictured on the wrapper. .
Good to know, thanks.
Rummo is my go to. Another fantastic brand.
It’s RAY-ohs
Do any of these contain eggs or do you know of any that do? Thanks for the video!
Pappardelle is the only dried pasta I know of that has egg in it, but I'm sure there are others. Fresh pasta always has egg in it.
Thank you! It seems like the best reason to just make my own at home!@@MartyThePastaGuy
have you ever tried any of the gluten free pastas? If you have, could you please do a review of them? thanks.
I have tried some of them, but I felt like I was wasting my sauce on them. I started making a sauce that seemed more appropriate for the flavor of those pastas - it was sort of a lentil ragu that was thick. It was decent, but I got tired of it after a short while. I liked the Trader Joe's brand the best out of the ones I tried (I think it was made from red lentils and quinoa).
@@MartyThePastaGuy thanks, the best gluten free pasta I have had so far is Andean Dream, they are made out of rice flour and quinoa flour. I hadn't tried the Trader Joe's one, I will look for it thx.
@@goddess131 Okay, I'll include that brand if I make the video.
PLEASE Do pasta sauces next, Sir.
If we compare with the price, di martino would be the best. In germany, it’s even cheaper than barllia and de cecco.
As italian i would Say barilla's bronze is rated too high, 2.5/5 imho
I was so surprised that it tasted better than their regular pasta that I may have gotten carried away, lol.
When he said "Yuck" I started laughing. Get the pun?
I missed the pun, what is it?
Yuck yuck yuck is a series of words that means laughter. For example, "Yucking it up" means laughing with your friends. @@tonitrus553
I thought de cecco was bronze extruded
I believe it is, and it says so right on the box.
They just started a line of pastas that are bronze extruded. That's a pretty new thing with them though and it's not all of their pastas, just the ones that say it on the box.
