I’m not a canned food fan…but kudos to you for always trying things! In this video I liked how you ate okonomiyaki with the special okonomiyaki utensils!
Funny thing is there is actually a restaurant in Japan that servers your food from CANS. They have shelves of various canned goods for you to pick out.
Those two were the ones that caught my attention the most! They looked SOO good. I swear the kind of delicious amenities in Japan is limitless. I don't know why the US doesn't market major Asian products more. Asian products are the bomb!! 😍🤯
DB is so nice about it but I can tell the canned Okonomiyaki wasn’t that great. I'd love to see you visit a proper Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki booth, those are amazing and definitely on my bucket list. There’s no place like that here and I had to try to recreate it myself.
I had Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima many years ago and liked it very much. I have made it myself and do so quite regularly - a bit of a simplified version, and with coleslaw mix as well as cabbage. I was happy to find the sauce at my local Asian food store.
Okonomiyaki are super easy to make and super tasty too. You can take short cuts like using a good processor to turn the cabbage and carrots into a meal then mix it with the flour, eggs, etc or you can put more effort in to hand chop the veggies and preserve the texture. My local Asian market sells furikake rice seasoning with bonito flakes, so I usually take that as a shortcut as well. Since the sauce is easy to make with ketchup, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sugar, I usually make that from scratch. My point is, properly okonomiyaki is delicious and those canned ones do not do it justice. -.-
Okay, made me hungry... need to see if I can find ANY of that in my local area... probably not. But thank you for sharing. Always look forward to the DancingBacons videos.
I would try most of these, but not the oyster balls or canned omelet. I love how the Spanish dish Paella ended up in Japan. Probably brought over when the Portuguese made their visit(s). This was fun. Thanks. 🙂
How did Sushi end up in the US? You ask anyone even on the coasts to eat raw fish in the 80’s and people would look at you like a complete weirdo or borderline insane person
I missed those... super cool cans. Wish Mitsuwa here sells them errrrhhh, these are perfect for car camping or even road trips, or even to keep as emergency food
I like canned food... I can't deny a good canned meal and I can afford some pricey stuff! It reminds me of my childhood and college days! And it tastes pretty dang good!
Fine dining during the apocalypse days 😅 But seriously, these canned foods are great to have around when you lack the essential items and tools to cook proper food. Japanese people knew exactly what they were doing, considering since Japan were struck with natural disasters most of the time.
They are years ahead of us. I would LOVE some of this stuff for my emergency canned foods stash. Their convenience stores are also chock full of things I would love to eat for cheap. And most of it made that day and with real food instead of a bunch of additives!
@@artalcoolique3341 Canned food can absolutely be made without additives. Canned means it's cooked into the can, but people make homemade canned goods all the time (usually made with jars at home.) You submerge the jar into boiling water and cook the ingredients inside and the heat seals the lid to the can and keeps the air out. But I was referring to their convenience store food when I said "made without additives". Like deli food in the United States, they have fresh cooked food in the cold case in the convenience stores---a lot more options than we have here.
Hey. In the canned deer and horse meat the really really lean bits were more than likely deer. And the fattier bits were probably the horse. Deer are really lean and the meat doesn’t have a lot of fat.
the takoyaki scared the living crap out of me! Compared to the ones that you get fresh from food vendors, you can see a major difference. But after all, it is canned food.
It would be interesting to know how much processed foods is consumed in different Asian countries. America has a lot of processed foods but there’s also a strong movement to implement more farm to table. With the American economy crashing and grocery prices soaring, a lot of people are starting to utilize growing their own food and supporting local farms.
Can I ask where you ordered a baby spatula and a baby spoon to eat that okonomiyaki? It’s funny I looked away while the microwave was running and thought for a second you had one that defied the laws of physics there😂
@@t2ohcharvard811 I wish but we have equivalent Dollar General stores here in Pennsylvania where I am. I don’t know why but I was stunned to see a perfect little spatula just like they use in the restaurants 😂. Just struck me as funny and kawaii

"Overall a good idea but it be great if we have firmer balls."
Words to live by.
Honestly those soggy rolled eggs seem like a texture nightmare, even though they probably taste great
Agree. The color alone was a turn off for me.
Dashi means stock/soup. So these eggs should be brasied rolled omelet
it all looks gross lol.
Let's be honest with our selfs here nothing in a can taste great

They have!
That lemon flavored soup looked delicious

Thank you for a very nice video of 10 Japanese canned foods 👍
This is pretty cool. It's amazing what you can put in a can, really.
Love it! I need more videos like it! So interesting!
The reason for eating deer is to maintain the ecosystem and protect crops, not just to get rid of them. Eat it deliciously and nourish it.
I love canned seafood. I always have canned herring, sardines, tuna and oysters or mussels.
That Omelette in a can looks really good reminds me of school lunches :)
Hilariously cute the canned chicken meal had THINGYS! They are so funny. I get a great laugh with every single video. I absolutely love their videos.
The paella did not even look that bad TBH, the rice in paella tends to be on the firm side, it is just how it is usually done.

That first one, I had a strong urge to pan fry and put it in a burger bun. Even knowing it's not for burgers, the urge is there😓
Okonomiyaki burgers are a thing, but the patties are often used as the buns, kinda like a ramen burger.
In terms of "veggie" burgers it's not a bad idea.

For some reason I really like the cans those are packaged in. Wouldnt probbly throw them away but used for storing something in them.
I'd have to guess the fatty pieces in the can of horse and deer was the horse meat. Deer is naturally a very lean meat
