the thing about Gabi's plastic surgery is that female celebrities get criticized for not being open about getting plastic surgery because they're "setting unrealistic standards", and they also (esp in gabi's case) criticized if they're too open about it because they're "setting a bad example". i'm not even a fan of gabi but women really can just never win in the eyes of the media.

being open about surgery and filming the entire process are two completely different things. if she just said "yeah i've had this, this, and this done" then no one would have an issue, but filming the process and talking about surgery in a positive light to your young fanbase is problematic. if people want to know what to expect before having plastic surgery/cosmetic procedures done, they simply have to ask the doctor who's going to perform the surgery.

This is so interesting. I always liked Gabi's content more. I thought she was more sure of herself, not trying to relate to everyone. she 100 percent looses in editing and filming but I think Gabi was more entertaining. they tried to be opposites but I think in a way they compliment each other, especially when they are not making it obvious.
I think you don't know both sides of the story, I don't blame you for it. but both Niki and Gabi have very different ways and styles of making their videos, and no Gabi's videos are not all the same,they might have produced for the sake of audience at one point which every creator did in this quarantine due to the pressure. but this is the problem with people who have expectations on twin sisters to be on the same standard with same level of talent. She went from posting Disney princess videos to now doing outfit swaps with popular RUclipsrs. She really peaked back in 2016 and now and is in the transition phase of doing more mature like content.

You may have looked good when you were a teen or you might have not or even if you were not "pretty"(generally) you didn't bother and embraced it. it's not the case for everyone and you can't exoect everyone to be the same. Gabi clearly notes in her videos that she doesn't promote surgery and she did because of her satisfaction. and it's just how RUclips algorithm works, young girls dream to be rich and fancy and that just happened to be Gabi and she just happened to have a surgery which makes her feel good.

i have a twin and it's like expected for twins to either be exact opposites or exactly the same and it's literally so annoying because if your not completely different it's like you have a shared identity. me and my sister literally started going to different schools just so that we could actually begin to find ourselves and be ourselves without everyone thinking of the other one when they were around just one of us
I have younger brothers who are twins. It seems like it’s really hard to forge your own identity when your whole life is shared. They share a room, share a friend group, share birthdays, and are always compared to each other. Being a twin must make it hard to find yourself and assert your individuality. From looking at my brothers, however, I’ve learned that twins often have more compassion and empathy, and if they can work through the hard times, they have best friends for life.
Same, even though it wasn’t that strong in me, since I’m a fraternal twin. But I was always constantly compared to my brother, and that actually screwed me up mentally, principally when I was being bullied. My parents, my relatives and even my friends made me feel that if I was more like my brother, things would go better and I still have a low self esteem due to that
i'm so osrry that happened to you. as a twin myself, i'm very lucky that my sister and i have a really good relationship, but i think the fact that our parents payed extra attention to not comparing us, really helped. they especially asked the school director to not put us in the same class for example, so we could have seperate friend groups and different teachers. if i end up becoming a mother of twins, i will for sure pay attention to things like these.

I think no one pointed out how the relationship between her and her twin sister were going. just a week ago I almost had a misunderstanding,my mom sat down and made me understand in a horse spectrum, now I'm very careful and acknowledge what I would do otherwise. sometimes if I excel at something, I'd feel superior to my sister unknowingly and vice versa, and we start ordering each other to do the same. I think we found our own pace a bit and in the end of the day no matter how much we cry and fight together, she's mine and in hers❤️

I'm a twin and I can't imagine constantly being compared to my sister by millions of people. I do theatre and she's a cheerleader. I'm more quiet and she's more outgoing. She's more sporty and Im more bookish. We are very different but we love each other. It's really hard when I hear people compare us. The nice twin, pretty twin, smart twin, fun twin etc. it makes me feel like I need to be more like her sometimes.

Then I started to watch Niki's vlog channel more, and see how she was more authentic and fighting to find herself and her image and that totally pulled me into liking Niki more. Even though I still like both girls a lot, Niki has grown a lot, and became more of herself. She's blossomed and I love that for her. And Niki's music????? Niki's music videos????????? I’m a twin (he’s a guy) and I couldn’t imagine being pinned up against my twin like that. The competitiveness runs deep in twins.... like I was seen as the athletic one and my brother the smart one. My brother quit swimming bc I was faster then him when we were 12. Yet in hs he went back to it and for the year we were going the same times lol I did not want him to beat me. However we both swam in college. Dating was hard... I was told by some guy that he could never kiss me bc “it would be like kissing David (my bro)”. He went to an all boy school and myself the sister school, and let me tell you that hit deep bc the dating pool was not big. Plus there is so much competitiveness that comes with different miles stone like getting your drivers license, taking the sat/act, applying to college, applying to jobs post graduation, etc etc. but even things like walking, reading, who was invited to birthday parties, etc. ppl always tell me they want to be a twin, but I don’t think they realize the dark side of it

I will say - Especially now I would love to see one of these on Alisa Marie, personally I think out of that lifestyle girl era/group she is now the most successful by far! While sure her content may have made a bit of a more direct change initially in the years since her burnout video she has done a really good job of cultivating a more mature audience of mid to late 20 somethings. She also to be seems to take a much more longterm and smart business approach to her main channel and works insanely hard (does editing, planning and just so much work on her content). Additionally adding her producer TK and how that elevated her content even more is really impressive, plus her vlogs are soo soo popular & her podcast with Remi (Pretty Basic) which is also a smash hit! But somehow she's always seemed to stay humble and mature - she does buy some luxury things (as she should she's earned it) BUT doesn't seem to show off in an obnoxious way

I feel like Gabi is kinda like a Tana Mongeau kinda character where she's more of an entertaining problematic character than an actual person, and that's why she always got more love and attention, while Nikki is way more authentic in the sense of opening up or showing a more relevant side of herself to her fans. I noticed something with the boyfriend challenge videos where Nikki and Gabi would compete on who was the better girlfriend or boyfriend. Gabi in general would win basically all of them because Gabi and Colin would almost always give each other a 10/10 or a 9/10 at the worst. I don't think it's necessarily because they think everything each other picks in these challenges is perfect--I think it's because they're the couple that idealizes and over romanticizes their relationship. It's just who they are. Niki and Nate I think love each other just as much, but they have a tendency to think harder about how the person actually did on the challenge and give a one hundred percent honest opinion. If they thought the other person did a terrible job they would say it, but in an affectionate teasing way. I don't like that it made the twins compare each other in their relationships because to me comparing "scores" wasn't healthy or an accurate representation on how well their relationships were going. And in general all the Niki vs. Gabi challenges were like this. I noticed that they continued doing the twin vs. twin videos but they cut the scoring portion and I think it's for the best. They actually talked about how much they enjoyed the challenges and wanted to keep doing them despite what people suggested, but I think putting a number on it wasn't healthy.
I used to be a HUGE fan of gabi’s like I wanted to be her I even had a fan account ya ik weird. But with saying that her fan base is EXTREMELY toxic when I was in it and in group chats with other girls it was crazy. When the whole sleepover thing first happened girls were catty and viscous there have many problems in this fanbase. Also all the girls are very unhappy and say that gabi has saved them, there have been quite a few girls whose friends would come into convos to say that they had attempted su*c*de and I was maybe 10 or 11 with a few girls younger in those chats looking back it seemed to be extremely toxic and honestly scary bc how young these girls are.

I occasionally watched some of their vids and always got the impression that Gabi was disinterested or couldn't be bothered which was always a little off putting and how many vids they've done switching bfs was also an odd choice 😂

As a twin myself, I understand the internal struggle of feeling like you're constantly in the shadow of someone. My twin sister always did better academically and socially than me, and to be compared to her by teachers, peers, shit even family, it's overwhelming and I don't even have a big RUclips channel. Luckily that comparison has mostly stopped from outside sources, but I think that's because she's now got ME and I'm her carer, so that 'power imbalance' is now switched, and she understands what it feels like to not feel up to par with someone. And we've dealt with our shared traumas lol, so that removed some anger from her side, making my life infinitely easier. She used to be my biggest bully, now she's my confidant and support network.
The girly girl and tomboy thing is just so annoying because when I was a little younger it was always look down upon to be a girly girl and wear dresses and prolapse thought acting or dressing like a boy was better or superior like hoonneeyyy nnnooo

As someone who also has gone through an “opposite twin syndrome” of sorts (and grown up in the same town as Niki and Gabi) their animosity towards each other was inevitable even if they didn’t fuel it. Family, friends everyone seems to have this stupid fascination with comparing twins together and it caused me a lot of pain growing up. I’m a few years older than them but I really feel for Niki and could relate to what she was going through a few years ago. I feel like I had this delayed adolescence of sorts because I didn’t feel like I could be an individual until into my 20s which I also saw in NIki.
I realized for Hannah’s videos I literally self care. I get a notification that she’s posted and I’m like okay it’s ME time. I’m literally here lighting my own candle of the day: a local made evergreen scent, steeping my tea and having a bowl of popcorn. I almost never do that kind of ritualistic “‘me time” but every time I sit down to watch one of Hannah’s videos I always do! I have no idea why, I guess Hannah just inspires me to take some time for myself. Being an adult is hard 😂
The amount of effort you put into this production is incredible and reflects so well! I haven't watched these girls since the 2016 days when I was a young teen but was so interesting to see how they have evolved over the years from an outside lens. Can't wait to see more of your videos :)

being open about surgery and filming the entire process are two completely different things. if she just said "yeah i've had this, this, and this done" then no one would have an issue, but filming the process and talking about surgery in a positive light to your young fanbase is problematic. if people want to know what to expect before having plastic surgery/cosmetic procedures done, they simply have to ask the doctor who's going to perform the surgery.

This is so interesting. I always liked Gabi's content more. I thought she was more sure of herself, not trying to relate to everyone. she 100 percent looses in editing and filming but I think Gabi was more entertaining. they tried to be opposites but I think in a way they compliment each other, especially when they are not making it obvious.

one of the saddest things ive heard gabi say in a video (i dont remember why i was watching it? i feel like it was a surgery video) is that in MIDDLE SCHOOL, she had a list of plastic surgery she wanted to have. it broke my heart that a 10-12 year old girl felt that she needed it.

i have a twin and it's like expected for twins to either be exact opposites or exactly the same and it's literally so annoying because if your not completely different it's like you have a shared identity. me and my sister literally started going to different schools just so that we could actually begin to find ourselves and be ourselves without everyone thinking of the other one when they were around just one of us
I have younger brothers who are twins. It seems like it’s really hard to forge your own identity when your whole life is shared. They share a room, share a friend group, share birthdays, and are always compared to each other. Being a twin must make it hard to find yourself and assert your individuality. From looking at my brothers, however, I’ve learned that twins often have more compassion and empathy, and if they can work through the hard times, they have best friends for life.
Same, even though it wasn’t that strong in me, since I’m a fraternal twin. But I was always constantly compared to my brother, and that actually screwed me up mentally, principally when I was being bullied. My parents, my relatives and even my friends made me feel that if I was more like my brother, things would go better and I still have a low self esteem due to that
i'm so osrry that happened to you. as a twin myself, i'm very lucky that my sister and i have a really good relationship, but i think the fact that our parents payed extra attention to not comparing us, really helped. they especially asked the school director to not put us in the same class for example, so we could have seperate friend groups and different teachers. if i end up becoming a mother of twins, i will for sure pay attention to things like these.

I'm a twin and I can't imagine constantly being compared to my sister by millions of people. I do theatre and she's a cheerleader. I'm more quiet and she's more outgoing. She's more sporty and Im more bookish. We are very different but we love each other. It's really hard when I hear people compare us. The nice twin, pretty twin, smart twin, fun twin etc. it makes me feel like I need to be more like her sometimes.

I’m a twin (he’s a guy) and I couldn’t imagine being pinned up against my twin like that. The competitiveness runs deep in twins.... like I was seen as the athletic one and my brother the smart one. My brother quit swimming bc I was faster then him when we were 12. Yet in hs he went back to it and for the year we were going the same times lol I did not want him to beat me. However we both swam in college. Dating was hard... I was told by some guy that he could never kiss me bc “it would be like kissing David (my bro)”. He went to an all boy school and myself the sister school, and let me tell you that hit deep bc the dating pool was not big. Plus there is so much competitiveness that comes with different miles stone like getting your drivers license, taking the sat/act, applying to college, applying to jobs post graduation, etc etc. but even things like walking, reading, who was invited to birthday parties, etc. ppl always tell me they want to be a twin, but I don’t think they realize the dark side of it

I will say - Especially now I would love to see one of these on Alisa Marie, personally I think out of that lifestyle girl era/group she is now the most successful by far! While sure her content may have made a bit of a more direct change initially in the years since her burnout video she has done a really good job of cultivating a more mature audience of mid to late 20 somethings. She also to be seems to take a much more longterm and smart business approach to her main channel and works insanely hard (does editing, planning and just so much work on her content). Additionally adding her producer TK and how that elevated her content even more is really impressive, plus her vlogs are soo soo popular & her podcast with Remi (Pretty Basic) which is also a smash hit! But somehow she's always seemed to stay humble and mature - she does buy some luxury things (as she should she's earned it) BUT doesn't seem to show off in an obnoxious way

I feel like Gabi is kinda like a Tana Mongeau kinda character where she's more of an entertaining problematic character than an actual person, and that's why she always got more love and attention, while Nikki is way more authentic in the sense of opening up or showing a more relevant side of herself to her fans. I noticed something with the boyfriend challenge videos where Nikki and Gabi would compete on who was the better girlfriend or boyfriend. Gabi in general would win basically all of them because Gabi and Colin would almost always give each other a 10/10 or a 9/10 at the worst. I don't think it's necessarily because they think everything each other picks in these challenges is perfect--I think it's because they're the couple that idealizes and over romanticizes their relationship. It's just who they are. Niki and Nate I think love each other just as much, but they have a tendency to think harder about how the person actually did on the challenge and give a one hundred percent honest opinion. If they thought the other person did a terrible job they would say it, but in an affectionate teasing way. I don't like that it made the twins compare each other in their relationships because to me comparing "scores" wasn't healthy or an accurate representation on how well their relationships were going. And in general all the Niki vs. Gabi challenges were like this. I noticed that they continued doing the twin vs. twin videos but they cut the scoring portion and I think it's for the best. They actually talked about how much they enjoyed the challenges and wanted to keep doing them despite what people suggested, but I think putting a number on it wasn't healthy.
I used to be a HUGE fan of gabi’s like I wanted to be her I even had a fan account ya ik weird. But with saying that her fan base is EXTREMELY toxic when I was in it and in group chats with other girls it was crazy. When the whole sleepover thing first happened girls were catty and viscous there have many problems in this fanbase. Also all the girls are very unhappy and say that gabi has saved them, there have been quite a few girls whose friends would come into convos to say that they had attempted su*c*de and I was maybe 10 or 11 with a few girls younger in those chats looking back it seemed to be extremely toxic and honestly scary bc how young these girls are.

As a twin myself, I understand the internal struggle of feeling like you're constantly in the shadow of someone. My twin sister always did better academically and socially than me, and to be compared to her by teachers, peers, shit even family, it's overwhelming and I don't even have a big RUclips channel. Luckily that comparison has mostly stopped from outside sources, but I think that's because she's now got ME and I'm her carer, so that 'power imbalance' is now switched, and she understands what it feels like to not feel up to par with someone. And we've dealt with our shared traumas lol, so that removed some anger from her side, making my life infinitely easier. She used to be my biggest bully, now she's my confidant and support network.
The girly girl and tomboy thing is just so annoying because when I was a little younger it was always look down upon to be a girly girl and wear dresses and prolapse thought acting or dressing like a boy was better or superior like hoonneeyyy nnnooo

As someone who also has gone through an “opposite twin syndrome” of sorts (and grown up in the same town as Niki and Gabi) their animosity towards each other was inevitable even if they didn’t fuel it. Family, friends everyone seems to have this stupid fascination with comparing twins together and it caused me a lot of pain growing up. I’m a few years older than them but I really feel for Niki and could relate to what she was going through a few years ago. I feel like I had this delayed adolescence of sorts because I didn’t feel like I could be an individual until into my 20s which I also saw in NIki.
I realized for Hannah’s videos I literally self care. I get a notification that she’s posted and I’m like okay it’s ME time. I’m literally here lighting my own candle of the day: a local made evergreen scent, steeping my tea and having a bowl of popcorn. I almost never do that kind of ritualistic “‘me time” but every time I sit down to watch one of Hannah’s videos I always do! I have no idea why, I guess Hannah just inspires me to take some time for myself. Being an adult is hard 😂
