Would we react the same way to our children? How does our generation define true love, respect and loyalty?

She's however the same person saying a woman shouldn't be asked to go to the gym to lose weight, by her partner. If her partner started developing a pot belly in their relationship I'm sure she'd be unhappy and ask her husband to hit the gym. The irony! Don't set weird body standards for people you are in relationships with. We wouldn't have liked it if our parents treated each other like that. Even if they did we obviously didn't like that it did. Simply go in for your preference and have the awareness that the human body changes as we age. Also be in a good healthy body shape before demanding same for others.
You have a point, but someone will enter a marriage and "leave themselves." Then, everything scatter. Stomach lying on laps and stuff. Healthy doesn't always translate to lean or muscular.

I'm amazed you're discussing a similar scenario I'm presently dealing with with my wife, whom I married 7 years ago. I understand that giving birth and all that will result in her having a bigger tummy, and I have begged her to train , but she has refused because of laziness.
