Hi Blanca I am one of your scrubscribers I only use youtube have been following you for about 9 months just love your videos.I love and look forward to you going to the orchid shows .i cannot get around so much any more so just remember your doing the videos for us seniors who just love orchids
Awww Juanita 💕 you can count on me to take you to the shows. I was there this weekend. I hope you enjoy watching. I will be going to many shows moving forward as I am now attending shows also as a vendor. I will make sure I capture the most beautiful orchids so you can enjoy them at home ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for watching and hope you have a wonderful evening. XOXO!
I learn so much from each video you post. I've always loved Vandas because they seemed less picky, yet I realize that I wasn't giving them the care they needed on a consistent basis. Many were attached on Palms and for different reasons - just not thriving. I now understand a bit better as to why thanks to your informative videos! 👌😊😃
Awesome information, thank you! I love to see how you care for your orchids outside. I may just try this on my live oak. I wasn't sure before if it would thrive there as I've only seen you attach them to palms before.
Blanca, you are absolutely right R&R orchids does steal the show every time at the Redlands festival. Unfortunately, he will no longer be a vendor at that event again. But don’t panic, you can order his orchids through his website or attend his events. I refuse to buy a vanda that’s not from R&R because his plant quality is superior to any other nursery. None of his have ever gotten sick meanwhile, vandas from other nurseries have been sold to me sickly without my knowledge and I’m just told the leaf was cut because it had sunburn when I’m actuality it hada fungus or virus and they clipped it to hide the signs :/ I have learned to buy a healthy plant from the beginning in order keep it alive..btw, when your vanda in bloom is too top heavy you can use a zip tie and attach the stem to the wire in order to prevent it from breaking off..happy growing and I enjoyed your video like always..Fran
Orchid Fanatic oh wow I was looking forward to their beautiful displays. I guess I’m going to have to take a drive to West Palm Beach to see them 😊 Thank you so much for the heads up!! The Vandas I got from them are fantastic. Thanks again 🌸😊
Hello, Dear Blanca Tq much for your kind information some of My Orchids plans having flowers I'm so glad your lovely explanation See you. My sweet friend Blanca 😘💞🌹🇲🇾✌️
Meu deus, nunca vi tanta qualidade de orquídeas Vanda... fiquei encantada...sou apaixonada por orquídeas, Vanda só tenho uma...pena que não entendi, porquê só falo português...
Ynse Schaap sure! I have a few already. I show how I attach some dendrobiums and another of Cattleyas. But I’ll be happy to show more. I just have to buy some more in bareroot. Hopefully at the Redlands show. 😊🌸
When you're getting low on Superthrive, try ordering the seaweed (kelp) extract from Amazon instead. I'm not kidding, in three months it has made a really noticeable difference in root growth, speed of growth, blooms on plants. I'm using the 32 oz liquid kelp from GS plant foods, $15.95 and worth every penny.
Michael McCarthy yes! you’ve been telling me to try it im going to order it. Do I use it the same way as Superthrive? I add it to the fertilizer? I’ve also heard Mega thrive is great too. That’s what they use at RF orchids. Thank you!!
@@blancasorchidgarden yes, same way as superthrive, but application rate is 1/2-1 tsp per gallon every other week. Mega Thrive is basically the same as superthrive but is meant as a separate (no fertilizer added) foliar application. Because the cuticle is so thick on Vanda/ Catt/ Phal/ Den leaves, I can't imagine it being absorbed in any useful amount except by roots. It is also ridiculously expensive.
Michael McCarthy just ordered the seaweed extract. I’m going to try it Next time I fertilize. So you use it every other week? Do you add anything else in between? Can I alternate the Superthrive and the Kelp?
Orchid Diva some say every other week, some say once a month. Because we’re in FL and orchids grow faster, I go with every other week. There shouldn’t be a need to use superthrive on off weeks.
Hello, beautiful collection of vandas😍. I live in Kendall,Fl and I would like to know which is the nursery when you buy the Vandas that comes in a pot with holes?
Hey, lovely lady, & the orchids are alo nice ! I draped Tillandsia usneoides ove the roots of my vandas, & found that the orchid roots really thrived with this. How about trying this idea for a vanda that isn't doing so well?
Blanca such a pleasure meeting you at the show this weekend. Vandas don’t get a winter hibernation? Do you water and feed weekly the whole year through? PS loved your candles!!
Ana Hernandez hi there! Sorry I missed this post. It was such a pleasure meeting you 💕my vandas get watered all year round everyday. In the summer twice a day and they get fertilized every week. No winters rest for any of my orchids 🤗 I am so happy you are enjoying your candle.
Hi,you can call me Chris I have another question hopefully you dont get tired with all my question,I have 2 Vandas and I going away for 2 weeks what should I do for my vandas and no one can water it everyday, NEED HELP PLEASED, PLEASE and than you so much.
Joventina Kilpatrick no worried Chris 😊🌸water as much as you can before you go. They should be ok. I’ve left mine before and when I got back they were fine. Just don’t leave them somewhere where they get over heated bring them indoors or put them under a covered terrace. I’ve never done water culture but some growers leave roots submerged in water. Maybe that can be an option for you. I would find out about maybe leaving roots in water while you are gone but find out more first I’ve never done that and wouldn’t want to recommend something that then later might harm your plant. Good luck hope this is helpful 🌸😊
Hi Blanca, I'd love to know which way your Vandas are facing on the trees - I've just got my first two vandas (one a seedling and the other almost at flowering size I think?) just wondering what type of light levels you have them - she is an absolute beauty. I'm in subtropical Queensland Australia.
Frith Brophy mine mounted ones are west facing but I wish they would be east or north facing. They get too much sun in the afternoon. I had to cover them in Spanish moss so they won’t burn. If you can mount them anything but west facing. The ones on my window sills are north facing they love it. 🌸😊 good luck with yours and Happy Growing!
Hey! I’m from Miami Dade as well. Love your orchids! I have the same mini pAlmer as you do. Also in the clay pot Ans bought at the same place. I’ve had her for about 8 months now and it hasn’t re bloomed yet. You mentioned that you may move her. How is that working out? Also, Did you ever experience the bottom leaves drop. Overall mine looks healthy but i have no bloom like all my other vandas and she getting the same treatment with the fertilizer. Looking for some advice😕
Hi! Haven’t moved her yet.. got some new roots but she still doesn’t look as good as the rest. Bottom leaves dropped also 🤔 I’m going to give her a few more months and see. I don’t want to disturb her since she’s putting out new roots and seems to be doing a little better. I’ll keep you posted 😀
Update!! My mimi has a spike peeking out! There is hope! Lots of Love was given to her! Lol Hope yours is doing well. I think when they cut my roots it really stressed her.
Nancy Lopez wow!!! Congrats!!!!!! 🎉🎊 Mine is not doing so good 😔 she looks so dehydrated. I water her everyday and nothing. So happy for you!!!!! Thank you for the update 😀😀
Orchid Diva don’t give up on her. I’m new to the world of orchids but I’m learning that that these clay pots suck a lot of moisture from our babies. I had to start watering morning and sunset. Also, I put a little Moss randomly in the holes to help hold in some moisture. Not too much. Maybe you wanna try. Good luck 🍀
Hi, give them a nice soak. Try dipping them inside a bucket and letting them soak for at least 15 min. Nothing else you can do. If your going to be away. It shouldn’t be too bad I e seen vanda’s survive with no water for longer than that.
Joventina Kilpatrick I like to purchase my Vandas at a local nursery. Unfortunately they don’t ship. If I purchased one online I would get it from Carmela Orchids. They are the only online orchid grower I buy my orchids from. Go on their website. Carmelaorchids.net
Joventina Kilpatrick I suffer with them 😢 thankfully in South Florida our temperature doesn’t get lower than 50 degrees in the winter and if it does the cold weather only stays for a day 😀 thank you for watching!!
PS I did notice the hard water spots on the new orchids I purchased as well. I looked it up.. If there are lime deposits or water spots on your orchid, remove them using a mixture made of one cup of water and two tablespoons of vinegar.. www.justaddiceorchids.com/just-add-ice-orchid-blog/bid/93359/preparing-your-orchid-for-exhibition-part-1
